Yep- and it's been that way throughout history. The average height of Spanish soldiers was around 5' 5"'; that of Roman soldiers was around 5'. Tall Gallic soldiers shocked Roman soldiers of the very early Roman republic because of both their nakedness and their height (from a diet supposedly heavy on dairy products).
However, residents of the Thirteen Colonies were considered to be extraordinarily Tall by people in England; due to considerably better diets, in particular more Protein than most people, other than the wealthy or nobles. The average height of Caucasian males in the early 21st century is 5'8 to 6'2; Caucasian men in New England of the 1760's was roughly 5'5" to 5'10" so 3" less, on average. Time travel's biggest problem is that the earth was in a far different place in 1787 than in any part of 2022. A time travel would need to be a time and space traveler to cover such an unbelievable distance.
At one point in the movie our time traveler says "im amazed by these new societal constructs", discussing such phoenomenah as women prioritising career over marriage, women doing mens labour, voting and wearing mens garments. At least in part, this movie is propaganda. A man from 1789 would certainly not be this liberal. In fact by todays standards he would be a far right extremist. At no point does he defend the values of his time, now does he show any difficulty adjusting to this alien society. Beyond his arrival, he is a modern man with modern values. If you are doing a recap on on a time travel movie, you should take take a few moments to learn calendars, 1787 is 18th century.
I doubt that women of today would be attracted to a good man from the past. Women would find his chivalrous attitude towards women offensive. Oh, there might a few women that like men with manners. Now if was a pirate they would be all over him.
It's Katteskill falls? Not Katterskill point? I lived there for 25 years, never heard of it, but who am I do dispute a computer? I like to knitpick, ignore me.. Where it gets out of hand, no doctor in the world would entertain that his story could be true. It was cool they used Rip Van Winkle to set it up.
So there were no De Lorean in the 18th century?
Who else thought of John Marston when rip remembered his name?
It was a happy ending for everyone except for Ted.
I can t imagine anyone from the past wanting to live in today s world, except for maybe the medical advancements. Also people who don t fit in society might find it appealing.
You probably have a very romantic fiew of the past
How about toilets, absence of brutal tortures to name a couple?
You wouldn't say that if you were a POC.
@@karinland8533 And you probably have a romantic view of the present. Somehow this is never discussed.
@@ricardog2165 If you're not a BIPOC then you would want to live in the past and why not? You should not try to think as a BIPOC if you aren't one.
Grate film
Wish I could travel through time.
@@jasonmarin8187 just walk across time zone lines
“Her baby daddy”. Lol
You could talk a tiny bit slower because it’s hard to follow because too much is happening just slow down a bit. I know it’s a recap doesn’t mean you have to talk fast too.
A.I. was weak in this vid. The better ones cost money
She's super cute.
Your title is ONE HUNDRED years off.
It's happy ending for every one, what about that police officer
😆
She wasn't into him, anyway. But I heard that a cute female police officer was transferred to his office and they fell in love. Their relationship is working quite well. 😊
Should've lured him into the cave and sent him back to the 18th century 😂
Ted probably thinks he is a nice guy
Ted thinks Ted is a nice guy yeah
"17th Century Man Accidently Travels In Future" Except he's from 1789, which was in the 18th century.
Must have done some more time travel
Please tell me the name of background music
Kate and Leopold movies plot... Hugh Jackman , Meg Ryan movie
Old boy looks more like he is from 1867 than 1787, and neither are the 17th century, unless he's a Pilgrim.
This was actually a very good movie, well done, and I don't particularly like Hallmark romantic movies.
Star Trek did some time travel themes, the one with Khan was great specially it was far more realistic than this film.
1787 is in the 18th Century, not the 17th Century. Please update the title.
OH to be with my good lady now and in the future.
A major miss of the film. So much wasted potential for conflict in the plot.
It is just entertainment. The story teller told it the way they wanted. If you like it or not, to each their own. It is a fantasy story, not reality.
@@jeh58 Since you so marvelously missed the point i can only assume you're american.
@@TheNorthernDane Wow, prejudiced a bit are we? If you don't like the premise of the movie then don't watch it. What does me being American have anything to do about it. Yes I am an Oregonian. Lived in Germany for ten years and in Asia for five plus years. Where are you from, and what different cultures have you live with?
@@jeh58 Yes. Ive met very few intelligent americans. My prejudice is founded on evidence. So when you completely missed my point, naturally concluded, and was right. Im european. Ive been around half of europe. I speak five languages. Three of them are native to me.
@@TheNorthernDane I met some Europeans that are A-holes. I don't stereotype the majority of them as such. I do understand the point you are trying to make. Was it valid, yes if that is the way the story teller was trying to go with this movie. The company who produce this is Hallmark, they do holiday card and feel good movies. That is why it is more in the fairy tale story type. Have you ever seen the movie "The Princess Bride?" It is non nonsensical but a fairy tale type of a story. Jumping to Americans unintelligent was narrow minded though. I am retired now but the iobs I've worked I've lived, ate with all kind of people from all over the world. How many Americans have you truly gotten to know?
I was mad at her but her randomly saying I believe you was cute 😊😊😊
I would be leery of accepting advice from the law enforcement officer who did knowingly act with criminal intent by prosecutorial misconduct to incarcerate an innocent man who wanted to live an unfettered life.
They had a time machine.. and no one gave a fuck.
Editing video in so slow motion is somehow weird, cause you dont feel the movie fast pace and squences......
Why do the buttons move from one side of her jacket to the other (6:24) and writing on the badge and car is back to front?.
That was a lovely story.
The Bohr atom? Not on a physicist's board!
They could always have a dentist check out his teeth. Though a thing to note, land farmers in 1700s America didn't have much of a sugar diet and therefore no tooth decay.
Tell that to George!
Sugar isn't the only thing to cause tooth decay.
So, after a perm and a shave ... Mr. 1789 looks exactly like an actor from the 21st Century. Who'd a thunk?
Surprised he didn't have any old diseases...and bad teeth...because tooth paste and brushes weren't around back then...
@@rayharvey1330 I read somewhere once, that ancient people had relatively good teeth even without dental care because of the kinds of food they ate (less sugars and so on). He didn't necessarily need to be diseased but the costume and make-up guys could have put a little more effort into making him look and feel more "ancient".
@@_mosesb Doesn't look like a high budget movie.
That's the dude from Dreamcatcher, who had the bad gas and then exploded in space slugs.
Can any1 please tell me the name of intro song
I so thought they were going to get transported to the 1700s at the end.
nice
IOf he's from 1787, that's the 18th century, not 17th.
Wait till he finds out about "they, them" identification. In 2022
The 1700's was the 18th Century not the 17th Century.
1758 is the 18th century. The 1st century went from 1-100. 2nd to 200 etc. So the 18th goes till 1800. And our 21st goes till 2100
