- SkyCal was over the scene of a wild high-speed chase through Los Angeles and Orange Counties on Tuesday evening, in which the suspect is believed to have hit one person and crashed at least two other uninvolved cars before finally being taken into custody.
the one chp car could have pulled in front when the truck was stopped but it didnt. im very disappointed in chps lack of stopping ability. the chp let this go on longer than necessary.
You know they do that on purpose so chopper up ahead can record content and so KCAL can have an audience.

This law enforcement agency could learn a thing or two from the Arkansas State Police - they NEVER would let this go on this long - they would have ended this before it even got on the surface streets. I've never seen such an incompetent pursuit.
Well, Deputy Frank Sloup from Pinal County SO would've ended it even faster than ASP, and then Sheriff Grady Judd from Polk County could've given a truly entertaining media briefing on Frank's 2-block, 10-second chase.

You're dead wrong. I've seen some ASP videos and they have pitted cars into innocent people and since they have QI ..they walk away even if they caused the death of innocent people. I don't know why they reported he was going 100 m/hr. He was clearly going 135....the chp knew he was dangerous and failed to detain him.

The police had him stopped and had pulled their gun on him. They could have easily detained the car with their vehicles but failed to do so.
You nor anyone else witnessed the cops draw their firearms...neither did they get the opportunity to get out of the cars... now you're just lying.

Yet another CHP blunder, failure to block, backing up to let him go forward, what a joke dept.
They didn't back up... the mistake was they stopped where they did and didn't roll more forward to fully block him in. They left a gap and the driver took it.
Forsure the pedestrian should sue bc it's cops fault for not ending the chase early when they had all them chances, they always let these chases go on for long periods just for views or adrenaline

Missed opportunity while stopped behind the semi. At my department, we apply pressure to the car to avoid this sort of situation. We’re smaller and less funded than CHP, so the only excuse would be either policy or the CHP trooper didn’t want to scratch up his Explorer lol.
Where is Arkansas State Police when we need them? They need to send officers for training.
Got to be policy - in the past CHPs were so aggressive yet competent, we have nothing but respect for them.

For the folks questioning why they did not pin the car in when it was behind the truck, simply policy and safety. The ground units did not all have confirmation if the suspect was armed or not, so you assume they are armed. Pinning the vehicle in may resort to the suspect attempting to "shoot his way out". Both cars were danger close with no room leaving LEOs unable to retreat to safety from their vehicles if he opened fire.
Please don’t give anyone chased if the police had to intention to stop the chase. It will endanger innocent lives. It seemed that the police were afraid of the suspects.

They couldn’t get a better shot for a couple of different reasons. The CHP helicopter was already in the airspace and the marine layer was an issue. They talked about it during the pursuit when they lost the shot.

Why are LEO's allowed to chase these vehicles at high speeds endangering the public, then in some cases PIT a vehicle into innocent victims. It's beyond me, there is tech available to stop engines, gps trackers. Hey, how about combine the two? No, they use "spike strips", the lamest tool I've ever seen, if they're successful. Ugh!

This is why they keep a far distance when drivers are too reckless and they aren’t put happy. They’re very careful about balancing how their efforts could endanger the public. This is why the chopper is used so much. Funny enough, people complain that they’re not aggressive enough in CA.
The guy was driving more than 100-mph on the freeway without any lights on, swerving in and out of lanes WITHOUT ANY LEO behind him. FOR MILES. They kept the spotlight on him to keep an eye on him but also illuminate the area for other drivers. The guy was a danger to the public before CHP even attempted any take downs. Your kindergarten understanding of law enforcement is the real public danger here.

I think the helicopter pilot was PAID by the driver of the speeding car not to show the accident between him, the pedestrian and the other vehicle. Too coincidental that the whole rest of the time the cameraman was tuned right to the car.
