After I purchased the Endless Summer compilation in 1974 when I was 11yrs old, I had to get their entire back catalog. I then purchased Carl & the Passions/Pet Sounds 2 LP set and The Beach Boys In Concert the next day. I love In Concert as it was the first time I heard the early singles & Pet Sounds material in stereo. Great presentation!
I recently found your channel and enjoy your Beach Boys videos. You’re very informative and I love your humor at the beginning of each video. I picked up the 3 disc Sounds of Summer and am blown away at how good the 70s stuff is, I never knew! I’m hesitant to get their 2012 remasters catalog because part of me thinks they will remix everything like the Beatles did after they released their 2015 edition of Beatles 1.
Glad you like my videos! Plenty more to come! The group's 70s work is some of their best stuff! A great decade for them (not commercially though) and releases like Ten Years of Harmony help to showcase that. I know some of the 2012 stuff has already been remixed since but the 2012 ones are still prevalent on many later releases and will likely be used for years to come so you should be good to get them.
Before the box set, the studio version of “We Got Love” was released as an iTunes bonus track to Holland, and is superior to the box set version, as it contains the original full length edit, not the shortened 2022 box set edit.
I think Carl chose to do the Bicycle Rider lyrics on Heroes and Villains because the Smile album was allegedly scheduled for release not long after this very concert album was released. I believe Carl actually mentions its coming release during the banter on this concert album
It's mentioned for their Carnegie Hall 1972 show but I don't think it gets mentioned here. But they were indeed tinkering with those songs for a potential Smile redo. It would have been interesting if that had come to fruition.
Say, what would you consider a complete Beach Boys Live Collection on Vinyl? Would it include the "Sail On, Sailor" Set, because of the Carnegie Hall Concert included?

Glad you liked it! This album does a great job of showcasing both the oldies and the new material! Did you go out and buy Holland too?

I got this album at Christmas in 1973 and I remember Sloop John B.being on that album,I'm not sure if you mentioned it
I did, it's a cover that really stand out on the album. It must have been fun to get this one as a Christmas gift!
Excellent and entertaining review, as always! Great stuff and thanks for the kind "shout out." Very cool t-shirt too!
Part of the 2022 "Sail on, Sailor" clothing line! LOL Glad you liked it. Thanks for making your great video; it really helped me out!

You're right! I forgot about that; thanks for reminding me!
The BB album I listen the most!
A good choice!
great review, my favourite live album but very close with the knebworth album both rock, cheers man
I should do a video on the Knebworth one too. That album rocks pretty hard as well!

I would count Carnegie Hall as part of a complete live collection. It has some parts that are very unique to it and not replicated here.
