Can you swap out the XR battery for the XR Ultra LG battery? Will the XR still work? Thank you for the detailed review.
@@steve5nash that is what Jeff Keenan asked as well. The XR and XR Ultra scooter neck that houses that battery is the same size, but larger in diameter to the GXL and GXL V2. I placed the battery from the XR into the XR Ultra and powered the handlebar console on. However I have not been able to ride it outside to fully distance test it or the XR.

These scooters do not have an app like some Segway and others. As far as a docking station, best bet is a simple home made dedicated area setup for charging the scooter. I have shelves in my garage setup for each with their dedicated power adapter velcroed to the top of the shelf above.

A small pump that would fit in a small backpack might be useful. I will say that small scooter air filled tires can be a pain to inflate. However, they should keep aired up for a long time unless there is a break or hold in the air tube inside the rubber tire. I don't use a gauge really, but you can

It's really up to the individual on whether to purchase the GXL v2 or XR. I can tell you that the battery used on both scooter are the same 36V 5.2Ah 187.2Wh. The improvements on the XR consist of the color scheme on the XR, internal locking pin when folding and unfolding, and the locking tab on the rear fender. The XR's power button is more tactile, but generally nothing more. I believe that the front led light on the XR is a bit better, but I need to do some testing to confirm. In addition, the base neck of the XR tiller, where it attaches to the base of the scooter, looks to be reinforced.
If I just want one for fun which one should I get?
I would say any of the GXL or XR scooters would be a good choice. If you don't plan on riding an extremely long distance the new XR is a good value and has minor improvements (mostly cosmetic) over the GXL V2.

You said at the 3:12 minute mark. That it goes five and a half miles an hour. It goes around 17 and 1/2 mi an hour depending on the weight of the rider
I did make a mistake. For an average adult around 160lbs max speed is ~15.5 mph
The speed is wrong on the gotrax. Get a gps tracking app on your phone. Still not stopping me from buying another one

Their website says they have an LG battery on the ultra but there isn’t any LG branding on the battery when you show it?
The individual batteries wrapped in plastic all have labels from the manufacturer of the batteries themselves as well as a label on the battery tube. However, I did not break the wrapping around any of the batteries tube anywhere to verify manufacturer labels.
I just bought the Ultra I really hope I like it! Looks easy to setup! I read some place that some guy has a GoTraxx and it lose power could be from keeping the battery in the heat? So I'm going to keep mine in the house and charge it only when it needs to be charged. Should be here next week!
Now that you've had the scooter for a while. How is it holding up? Any problems/issues?
I've not ridden the scooters since around fall 2020, but so far I've not had any failure issues. I have one scooter with a tire I have to replace (oldest scooter. Around 4yrs old).
I've had one issue where a person was getting the power button stick and the scooter seemed not to power on, but I fixed the issue by taking the power assembly apart, cleaning it, and making sure it was not gummed up. I'll do a video soon on that

How do I know when my tires need air? I ride it daily on pretty awful NYC streets. I have the Ultra for about a month and have never filled the tires yet. I imagine I probably should by now, but don't know how.
I completely understand. I have had an original GXL and didn't air the tires for over a year. You can either use a tire pressure gauge on the tire (but be warned the tire stem in those small tires are a real pain in the rump) OR you can eyeball it with your weight on the scooter (you can use your phone camera to video the front tire while putting all your weight on the front tiller to see if the tire gives too much).
@poweronfun I took it to Paragon...the wheel was giving when I pressed it in. The guy said it seemed the inner tube ripped away...so I ordered a new one and some tire irons. Wish this complete ignoramus luck...

Do you think the Xr Ultra battery would fit in the regular GLX?
It may not, but I am not completely sure. The battery tube of the XR/XR Ultra look to be just a bit bigger diameter than the GXL/GXL V2. However I have not measured them to verify.

I found a visual difference! The charging port cover for the ultra is gray and the port on regular is black!
There is a nice sticker decal on the bottom of each scooter as well.
How do you go to the 2nd gear
Would really like to buy one. What about the battery.... Can I buy one if the original dies after a year or so? And if so what does something like that go for?

The battery brand labels would be on the individual battery cells in the heatproof wrap around the batteries. I cannot say I've unwrapped to verify, but I have no reason to doubt that their claim is disengenious.

I have an Ultra but I can’t find the way to switch to the second speed.
The Ultra model I have (early 2020 release) has two speed modes (1 and 2). I am not certain if they removed the slower speed mode or not, but it wouldn't surprise me if they did (again, I am not certain at all if they removed speed mode selection on newer models).

@@jamnjoe19 elite goes about 2miles farther...has a taillight. Does have only one power setting where untra has2. Battery is in footboard instead of handle tube. Battery is 7ah instead of 5ah.

Do you think the new XR ultra battery will fit the original XL? They have the ultra battery up for sale at $119 already. The motors look the same I bet they are just over driving it with the new controller which might be built into the top of the battery pack.
That is a very good question. I believe the XR Ultra battery will fit in the neck of the XR. I also believe that the tiller/handle is identical. II plan to try the XR Ultra battery in the XR this week and see if there are any issues.

What version of the Gotrax scooter do you currently have? Do you commute with the scooter or just ride for fun? If you commute with your scooter now and it's either barely getting you to your destination then I would say the XR Ultra is a good fit at a decent price (just be sure to grab a discount code somewhere) with it's stronger battery. It's also worth noting that Gotrax has a premium scooter coming out sometime later this year with even more mileage, but also at a higher price point.
WARNING: gotrax has an F rating on the Texas BBB. They are a US warehouse for fully Chinese made and assembled scooters. They don't do any of their own repairs or assembly. They sell new buyers scooters before sending out customers waiting on returns/service. I purchased two(2) may 1 2020. This was the experience. Currently August 24 only have one(1).
Thinking about buying the Ultra just wants to ask how is it after two months? I'm going to buy the AIR EXTENSION TUBE as I see it looks hard to put air in the tires? What do you have to say after the two months of having is?
All the GXL and XR electric scooters have air inflation extensions in the box so there is no need to buy one. Weather here has been warm often enough now that I've ridden both XR and XR Ultra a good deal more. The Ultra has noticeably more battery than the GXL and XR models as expected. I still need to do a review, distance test, and compare officially

Just got the ultra but i am not able to change gears. I hold down the power button like it told me but nothing, it seems like it’s set on one gear. Are they making them like that now or do i have to trouble shoot it? confused, please help!
hi, I own a model that has the 2 models but have a friend that has a newer one with only one model. they make it now with only one speed mode. hope this helps

Looking for a Scooter ( speed not priority ) . My concerns: No Stem/handle-bar Wobble, Distance, Under 40lbs, Shocks/ride-comfort, Braking. Any input is appreciated. Stay Safe everyone.
The scooter is sound all around. The handle and stem are stable with little to no wobble. Braking is solid if not surprisingly fast.

Dont buy it, its a piece of crap, i bought it after 2 months it just died dealing with CS is a nightmare. it is alot of fun for 2 months and then it will just die. read the reviews online they all break. the good reviews are people writing them in the first few weeks Again stay away spend the money on a quality one and oh yea it doesnt have an LG battery like they claim
Experiences seem to vary. Saying "they all break" is not factual along. I have not unwrapped each of the scooter cells in my scooters, but I've not seen proof of your statement that the scooter doesn't use LG batteries as the company claims.

What's the range on the xr ultra?
Other than what Gotrax stated, I hate to say I have not performed a range test yet. I'm hoping to do that within the next week ( along with a tire replacement to a solid tire).
@@PowerOnFun I'm assuming like most electric scooters it'll get around 75% of its actual range unless you live in a flat area. I might be wrong so I'll have to wait and see.
