"Mr. Krabs can I get a raise?" "You get a raise when I say you get a raise and you leave work when I say you leave, YOU GOT THAT YOU LITTLE BARNACLE?!"
Clancy Brown, who’s also Mr. Krabs, was only 35 when the film was released. Tim Robbins was almost 35 at the time. Morgan Freeman was actually 57 years old when Shawshank Redemption was made.
There are 2 types of assholes in life: the school bully type who will openly abuse people (Hadley) and the passive thoughtful type who pretend they're decent people but actually are just in it for themselves (Norton). When we're kids, it's people like Hadley that we watch out for, but as adults it's people like Norton that we need to watch out for.
Warden Norton is a frightening bastard. Sure, Hadley is a sadistic thug, but there is something about the warden's more restrained, sophisticated evil that is honestly more scary to me. That little nod he gives Hadley to go beat the inmate up. The script to this movie describes Norton as "he looks like he could piss ice water." Quite an apt description. He is the epitome of coldness.
He's an evil mastermind, who's particularly good at his complete lack of compassion or ability to see inmates as human beings. Everyone below him are tools to use, and to be discarded when they've outlived their usefulness.
Tomulescu Alexandru he screen tested for the role. They do that all time in movies, multiple actors will screen test for same role depending what is and narrow down who like best based on performance.
msms2535 Andy got a little gray as well as Red and both needed reading glasses. Norton went grey and his hair shorter. That's about it. Shawshank Prison was an easy life.
Not completely true. Compare the scene where Red and his "gang" are introduced, where you meet Floyd, Heywood and the Italian-looking guys. They all have grayer hair and more wrinkled skin.
Jesus... I know this is only a film, but a max-security prison must be hell. These kinds of clips just remind me of never to stupidly commit a crime lol.
freakyfornash That's the problem with prison in real life- readjusting to life after prison is a huge problem. It's damn near impossible. Hardened inmates become psychologically so familiar with prison that they call it their home, as you rightly say. Employers look down their noses at convicted felons, but can you blame them? Would you hire a rapist or a murderer?
in our country are different prisons for convicts who commited major crimes and for those who commited minor crimes. To be wrongly convicted is very bad and to be wrongly convicted and put in a hard prison - that's a tragedy.
Put your trust in the lord your ass belongs to me...lol...I heard that same line at Parris Island in '75 on Easter Sunday, except their version was You can give your heart to Jesus but your ass belongs to The Corps...when the DI's were telling us we could go to Easter Service if we wanted to....he recommended we all go with that line...and I sure did, what a nice reprieve it was...I'll never forget that mass.
Been fascinated with the idea of how people should set up a prison. I saw a documentary about a Japanese prison where there is no violence, rape or murder of any kind. Inmates follow a severely strict regimen to their days and are not allowed to be idle in their cells. They must be studying or doing something productive at all times in their cells. They are forced into an apprenticeship work program where they earn the money for their cell supplies and food, thus saving the taxpayer many expenses. They will end up leaving prison having learned a few useful trades such as auto repair and woodworking so they are viable workers for society upon release. The foreign inmates are required to learn all the various marches/salutes and the guards are very particular about how accurate they are with their form. What is the punishment for not abiding by any of this you might ask? 6 months sitting in a chair staring at a wall while you are not eating or sleeping! The Warden here is strict, even someone to be feared of as he is just as much of a murderer as these inmates are. I find it funny when you see American prisons where it is basically an industry and there is almost no effort in the majority of them to rehabilitate people who will rejoin society one day. Certain murderers and psychopaths just cannot be let out though but many other prisoners can and should be after their time is done.
That's what prison SHOULD do. Punish, and further educate. You are here sitting out a sentence, and while you're at it, you're going to learn skills that will be useful to society when you get out. Because it is the lack of useful skills that (is one of the reasons, not all of them) put you in crime in the first place.
you see that's the problem, I'm no puck/rebel but I would happily sit and stair at that wall instead of doing one days work for that prison happily knowing I'm a liability that the prison hates. again that sounded really puckish but I just know that's all I'd do
One of satan's favorite deceptions: present a false "Christian" as a "Christian", making others think negatively of Christ/Christianity, and then others will think that gives them an excuse to reject God's truth and His offer of "forgive and forget" to avoid the coming judgment for breaking His Laws countless times. God will judge false Christians more harshly - do not be deceived: judgment is coming for every one of us, myself included. Even most churches will not preach how Jesus warned more about avoiding hell: *"And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him."* Luke 12:4-5
Put your trust in the Lord, while I try to play the lord...i wonder what had happened had he asked Jesus the same question. Nortion got karma, now he burns in hell, the hypocrite
The punishment is the prison. Not saying the place needs to be like classy resort, but getting beatdowns, and living like in a shithole is overkill for most prisoners. How can you get rehabilitated with that? If you don't, eventually you will serve your time, and then eventually commit another crime, only to get sent back in. Wasting the whole point of prison in the first place.
"Mr. Krabs can I get a raise?"
"You get a raise when I say you get a raise and you leave work when I say you leave, YOU GOT THAT YOU LITTLE BARNACLE?!"
"UNGH!!" *coughs up blood*
Mr. Krabs had a hard life as a guard captain
silencedknight yes he sure did have a hard life as a chief guard. He looked like he was 30 years old over a 19 year period!
Clancy Brown, who’s also Mr. Krabs, was only 35 when the film was released.
Tim Robbins was almost 35 at the time. Morgan Freeman was actually 57 years old when Shawshank Redemption was made.

Face Off Norton is the perfect example of the saying "Bitch in Sheep's Clothing"
I wasn't there to see it but I heard Byron Hadley started crying like a little girl when they took him away
Warden Norton is a frightening bastard. Sure, Hadley is a sadistic thug, but there is something about the warden's more restrained, sophisticated evil that is honestly more scary to me. That little nod he gives Hadley to go beat the inmate up.

Rule #2: Don't ask when you can eat
Jeez, it was just a question...
yortzandat 😂😂
replyvideos 101 true it was, and he got his answer tho too.
Yer followed by assault.
"But, that being said, what time will you tell us we can eat?"
I believe in discipline and the bible!
In this comment section you'll receive both
"Put your trust in the lord. Your ass belongs to me" I love that line
the correction officer always played a GREAT bad guy
Clancy Brown :) www.imdb.com/name/nm0000317/
Bob Gunton looks and acts the role of a strict prison director just perfectly,I don't know how they picked him,he was literally perfect
They tested him.
Tomulescu Alexandru Bob gunton is a very underrated actor, but he plays a great villain. He was also the villain in the second Ace Ventura movie.
I wonder if his role as the police chief in "Demolition Man" won him this role.
Tomulescu Alexandru he screen tested for the role. They do that all time in movies, multiple actors will screen test for same role depending what is and narrow down who like best based on performance.
Nobody ever ages in this movie.
msms2535 Andy was the only one I noticed go grey
Did you not notice Norton and Red's greying hair?
msms2535 Andy got a little gray as well as Red and both needed reading glasses.
The end credits list his character name as Hungry Fish Con. LOL
No blasphemy in comments
fuck god
Praise be to thy Allfather he who gave his eye for knowledge but i would give far more
Well he did ask them if they had any questions.
I loved this movie. One of the best all time
It's interesting to see the sort of religious undertones of how the warden hides behind the bible while also being relentless and terrible.
Hadley should be on Beyond Scared Straight scaring kids and they will definitely not come back to prison
mr. krabs, when do I get paid?
"Put your trust in the Lord.... Your ass belongs to me!" CLASSIC! LOL
Byron Hadley has got to be one of the most reprehensible characters ever put on film.
0:42 I'm still laughing at the fact that I'm hearing Mr. Krabs cuss. XD
Jesus... I know this is only a film, but a max-security prison must be hell. These kinds of clips just remind me of never to stupidly commit a crime lol.

This was late 40s. I doubt prison staff could get away with this kind of shit today. Still, there's the other inmates to worry about.
in our country are different prisons for convicts who commited major crimes and for those who commited minor crimes.
To be wrongly convicted is very bad and to be wrongly convicted and put in a hard prison - that's a tragedy.
Just the Captain and warden as witnesses? They would get away with it easily.
Go to prison, don't read a book about it. You'll learn different.
Love clancy brown
"I'm Mr Norton, The Warden" I'm pretty sure if I was there Mr Hadley would have kicked my ass right there cause I would be giggling silly.
Well, at least Hadley’s name wasn’t “Mr Guard.”
You EAT when we say you eat
Daytripper N7 You SHIT when you say shit.
Daytripper N7 you PISS when we say you could PISS.
*cough cough *
yeah but when 😎
Damn Mr. Krabs, you savage!
Nice to see what Mr.Krabs does outside the water.
Mr. Krabs must've had a bad day
What's for supper? A Nightstick!
No matter where you go (even in prison), you will always have someone time about food the whole time.
Hungry Fish Con is his name in the ending credits. LOL
"Put your trust in the lord, your ass belongs to me" I got that.
The Shawshank Redemption - Best Movie Of All Time
If you like fantasy films
Art thou feeling it now, Mr. Krabs?
Clancy Brown
THE ENEMY CANNOT EAT THE FOOD IF YOU DISABLE HIS FACE
"Put your trust in the Lord, your ass belongs to me....... Welcome to Shawshank"
The Kurgan cleans up real nice
Now we know what Mr. Krabs did to that inmate.
You know when the kurgen/ drill sergeant zim is the guard youre in for a bad time
Put your trust in the lord your ass belongs to me...lol...I heard that same line at Parris Island in '75 on Easter Sunday, except their version was You can give your heart to Jesus but your ass belongs to The Corps...when the DI's were telling us we could go to Easter Service if we wanted to....he recommended we all go with that line...and I sure did, what a nice reprieve it was...I'll never forget that mass.
'When do we eat'
Mr krabs sure is mean

He didn't say you starve them, he said that unless youre eating or sleeping youre sitting in a chair for months. The cramps would be terrible
you see that's the problem, I'm no puck/rebel but I would happily sit and stair at that wall instead of doing one days work for that prison happily knowing I'm a liability that the prison hates. again that sounded really puckish but I just know that's all I'd do
Seems a reasonable question to me
OH YEA MR. KRABS!
Prisoner: "When do we eat?"
Daenerys Targaryan: "You will eat when you bend the knee!"
Hmmmmmmm what does she feed them I wonder?
Best scene of the movie.
Looks like a nice hotel...
".. your ass belongs to the Corp."
Didn't know Lex Luthor swore so much haha
watch the wardens expression when the guys says when do we eat. He knew what Hadley was going to do.
No, his look told Hadley to do it.
I came here to give felons punishment and Bible studies, and I'm all out of Bible
Any questions?
Is it really better to burn out than fade away?
The warden reminds me of my old boss.
"Lunch will be served from 12 in the mess on the first floor."
I fucking love this guy
Take it easy Luthor, god damn
Chuck Norris: when do we eat?Norton: right away sir
Norton really scares me.
I thought it was just me that likes this scene..
Prison shouldn't be easy for certain types of prisoners.
Hey you're being a bit obtuse there don't ya think?
Was it the way he asked? Showing no respect lol!
"When do we eat guy" wasn't listening....The Warden already said your ass is mine...Hadley had to interpret
Basically phase 1 military training 😂
Prison version of Gunnery sergeant Hartman !!!

Luke 12:4-5
I like that the game no way out is inspired by this movie.
This was in my recommendations and I don't know why I thought it had something to do with Tide Pods
I never served at The Shank, but I would have straightened out Hadley if I had.
If that guy had asked it in a nice way, would Hadley still have come down hard on him?
Put your trust in the Lord, while I try to play the lord...i wonder what had happened had he asked Jesus the same question. Nortion got karma, now he burns in hell, the hypocrite
Dan Zalisnock Yep good Christian my ass. He's the true example of the saying "Bitch in Sheep's Clothing"
Great 🎥
Ya know in retrospect maybe ? What's for supper would have been a better approach ! 😈
Captain Hadley >>>> Sargeant Hartman=Highway=Foley
Prisons need to go back to being like this. Perhaps people will start thinking twice before committing crimes.
The Warden looks and acts like Jerry Prevo, 45 year southern Baptist pastor of Anchorage Baptist Temple.
OH YEEAAH
Sorry, but this is a Christian server so no blasphemy
The hypocrisy is nauseating.
Has Andy been caught yet ?
Including her...😨
pentecostal church initiation speech.
the us prison system....sad
What's it supposed to be like then? Prison is for punishment.
Simple, don’t do the crime
The punishment is the prison. Not saying the place needs to be like classy resort, but getting beatdowns, and living like in a shithole is overkill for most prisoners. How can you get rehabilitated with that? If you don't, eventually you will serve your time, and then eventually commit another crime, only to get sent back in. Wasting the whole point of prison in the first place.
gredangeo Your right.
gredangeo well said brother
Actually, Other than the prison corruption. The prisons should be run like Shawshank.
Recidivism would be at 0%
Correctional officers unseen heroes they deal with alot of shit!
Just once I'd like to cut loose on an inmate mouthing off. But it might hurt their feelings. So I guess that's out.
This speech is weirdly odd and strange
Don't say anything questions then if you are going to treat people badly for asking them
That hit was unnecessary.
This guy would be pro Drumpf.
Let’s not bring politics into it.
This movie needs a sequel with a PC feminist twist #ghostbusters #miloyiannopoulos
