This is a must see show! They completely rock the house! They are all talented, but Constantine shines like the star he is! Contgrats to the whole cast on being nominated, you all deserve it!
Constantine kicks the crap out of these vocals! Seen it live a bunch of times on Broadway and he is the real deal, nails the high notes every time. Thank God he didn't win idol, that would have ruined his career lol
@missstellathecat Very true. That's why I love musical theater because these singers/actors are the real deal. No autotune and other digital remastering for them, and they often do it while dancing hard!
In a way, this is what Broadway might need at time like this. Think about what RENT did for Broadway. It was one of the best things in the world and it changed Broadway forever. This, I truly think, is going to do just that. Rock of Ages was built for the old and meant to attract the young. Honestly, these people are talented and more than one has been on many musicals. So, I think this show is going to rock and I wouldn't mind that, after I finish school, this being my first musical.
@xxhii33xx i dunno man. it's a year later and they were at the tonys. did they win a tony? i think they did. that's not sarcasm, i think they did, but i'm not sure. your high school speech group must have been outstanding, and on acting steroids to beat this!
i disagree, xxhii33xx. the entire rock of ages cast is simply superb and perfectly suited for this show! they've been in numerous broadway shows including Rent, wedding singer, chicago, les miserables, kiss me kate, sweeney todd, wicked, sweet charity, beauty & the beast, the color purple, 42nd street, the producers, the lion king, damn yankees, a chorus line, xanadu, high school musical... and yes, even Hairspray (jeremy woodard). your high school speech group must have been amazing!!
Mario jimenez diaz the plot from the movie to the musical varies quite a bit. Instead of just the mayor wanting to tear down the city, a German and her son come in with a plan to tear down Sunset Strip and replace it with "clean, efficient living". Basically there's the main leader of the protesters who was the mayors assistant who gets fired after rebelling and trying to save the strip. She leads the protest against Hilda, who's son Franz is on the fence against the "rehabilitation" of the strip. The plot with the other principle parts is typically the same as the movie in the sense
Trust me i know theatre, I do Perform in Theatre and i have worked on the West End in Oliver as the 2003 Artful Dodger. and many others. i think i know what im talking about
If you see the show the guy sings in Spanish because he was supposedely hiding out in Paraguay after getting caught with a minor girl. So they have him do that part in Spanish.
@missstellathecat Don't know much about Wes Taylor. I agree about the Glee cast being digitally altered but keep in mind that the auditioned people from Broadway for Glee cuz they wanted triple threats. Some of them have been in the trenches 8x a week just like the ROA cast. I have to say their ability to sing on the edge consistently is amazing.
I saw this in Melbourne (with the Australian cast who were excellent) and there certainly is a story to go along with it. its a love story and then on the other hand, there's a side story about 'the Bourbon' (the bar where they work) being demolished... this video is obviously a promotional vid from a morning show. how can you judge the whole show harshly from just this?
true, it is a cliché plot line but i don't think it was made to be the next 'Cats', I think it was made for everyone to go and see and simply joy the atmosphere, humour and fun of it. I doubt they had a specific audience in mind when creating it as a show, its something that most people enjoy.. which does indeed lead to BIG MONEY. my point is that countless people enjoyed it all over the world, so I'd deem it worth your while to check out next time it comes around :)
dude ive like seen that girl with the pink hair before. i saw her when i went to go see ROA in June and then i saw her on facebook, and now here.. thats kinda creepy sorry.
Big deal I have done theater myself...Big deal. But you did not know what you were talking about because you had the wrong end of the stick when you read what I wrote. Now get over yourself and realize you made a mistake.
@ayaazmerali1 I think it's this cast that sucks cause I saw it with Dan Domenech, Rebecca Faulkenberry, and MiG Alaya and they were amazing. Yeah and constantine has always sucked
I would think that if you were gonna put on a huge production like this and show it on national television as well that you would teach the character who is supposed to be playing the guitar how to actually play a guitar that was half-way believable. He was strumming when there was no guitar in the song. What a joke. I wanted to see this but if the the production is anything like this then I'll not ruin my memories of great music by these pretenders.
get over yourself and realise i have talent and you dont. ok 2 weeks i will battle you to a sing on skype, inbox me your name and lets get to this, we will battle for money
This is a must see show! They completely rock the house! They are all talented, but Constantine shines like the star he is! Contgrats to the whole cast on being nominated, you all deserve it!
I saw this twice when it was Off Broadway. It was hysterical and so much fun, great singing too. Constantine was awesome, hope he wins the Tony.
beautiful!!! Const is amazing!!! I hope everyone gets a chance to go to the show! :) Hes come such a long way. Im so proud of him.
Constantine kicks the crap out of these vocals! Seen it live a bunch of times on Broadway and he is the real deal, nails the high notes every time. Thank God he didn't win idol, that would have ruined his career lol
Constantine, you blow them all away
Best musical I have seen! Highly recommend it!
This show was amazing.... SO MUCH FUN!
Hell yes constatine
Amy I love you! Maroulis is great too!
Was in the front row, of this, to the left. Brings back good memories to see the original Broadway (and many of the Off-off) cast. :-)
omg I envy anyone who will or has got to see this. Wow looks like it would be pure heaven to witness this play. I am so jealous.
this is one owesome show!!!
I just saw it on broadway this week, and i thought it was phenomenal!
Amy Spanger spectacular, each more beautiful day

@missstellathecat Very true. That's why I love musical theater because these singers/actors are the real deal. No autotune and other digital remastering for them, and they often do it while dancing hard!
this is going to premire en mexico Oct 24 2014 with Mexican actors and singers and is going to be soooo good :D

I saw it last month. I thought it was great.
i was there that day
i WANT that vest with the feathers on the shoulders, its the sh*t!
Honestly, I don't think their butchering anything. If anything, Constantine made "Oh Sherrie" better.
@amapunker76 what's "bubble gumish"?
haha i know!
she is like everywheree
thats funny bc when I went to see the show at the end of June the girl with the pink hair was there too.. and she was sitting in t/ front row
replace the guy t 8:12 with lemmy from motorhead.
that's what they were shooting for right?
@xxhii33xx i dunno man. it's a year later and they were at the tonys. did they win a tony? i think they did. that's not sarcasm, i think they did, but i'm not sure.
your high school speech group must have been outstanding, and on acting steroids to beat this!
@anne123480 If you can't get to the live show, the movie comes out in June!
did savannah wise leave or something, cause i know that kerry butler is playing sherrie now :S
haha i think i went june 26th but she was in the front on the left hand side and they used the lighters the whole time too
Great!
what do you mean by HAH?
did u go june 28? cuz thats when i saw her
i just went to see it today, and she was there front row. is she like a superfan or something?
I think the movie version was awesome!
i disagree, xxhii33xx. the entire rock of ages cast is simply superb and perfectly suited for this show! they've been in numerous broadway shows including Rent, wedding singer, chicago, les miserables, kiss me kate, sweeney todd, wicked, sweet charity, beauty & the beast, the color purple, 42nd street, the producers, the lion king, damn yankees, a chorus line, xanadu, high school musical... and yes, even Hairspray (jeremy woodard). your high school speech group must have been amazing!!
I would LOVE to be Sherrie to Constantine's Drew!!!
Could anyone sum up the plot of the stage version? I've only got to see the movie one and as far as I know they are way too different
+Mario jimenez diaz the overall plot is the same, it's just a lot more characters in the stage version and songs arranged differently.

@cannsmith I love Dan Domenech as Drew!! I saw him last night and unfortunately tonight was his last show! :(
Was that Wesley's understudy?
Trust me i know theatre, I do Perform in Theatre and i have worked on the West End in Oliver as the 2003 Artful Dodger. and many others. i think i know what im talking about
anyone else notice the guitar not being plugged in???
THATS MY UNCLE :) PAUL SCHOEFFLER
and the musical takes place in the 80s
If you see the show the guy sings in Spanish because he was supposedely hiding out in Paraguay after getting caught with a minor girl. So they have him do that part in Spanish.

@emoboi415 You lied to emoboi415... I saw the show and it's NOT for no reason! Lol
I saw this in Melbourne (with the Australian cast who were excellent) and there certainly is a story to go along with it. its a love story and then on the other hand, there's a side story about 'the Bourbon' (the bar where they work) being demolished... this video is obviously a promotional vid from a morning show. how can you judge the whole show harshly from just this?
omg. That's Wesley Taylor.

@chsturgill Haha, they even did a closeup during the guitar solo as though it was really him that was playing, even though it was clear he wasn't!
here's my audition for don't stop
wesley taylor is my love :D
I liked the Las Vegas cast :DD perhaps because I heard them first...
they are different characters from the musical
I don't get who all the people singing are supposed to represent in the 80's.
i agree with u
true that =D
it was the 80's...
She was 38 then, actually.
Tom Cruise confirmed to star in the movie version. Did someone lose their mind?
He played Stacy Jaxx.
Constantine Maroulis had the heaviest make-up job I have ever seen in this video.
28 people misses the like button.
In the show the guy has to hide out in Paraguay because he was caught with a minor girl, so they have him sing this part in Spanish. Pretty funny.
@mega48man Actually no. ROA was nominated for 5 tonys. It won none
dude ive like seen that girl with the pink hair before. i saw her when i went to go see ROA in June and then i saw her on facebook, and now here.. thats kinda creepy sorry.
@commentnotapproved1 theyre actually slurpies hahahah.
Yes i know that lmao. Hence why I said "The Movie Version". Trust me I know theater ;)
ive got to say, the london one is much better, their voices perform more through the songs
I'm sorry, but Sherrie looks 35?!
The NY cast I saw in March of 2012 was way better!!! Dan Domenech will be missed as Drew! :(
@emoboi415 LOL it's okay!! I was joking anyhow! :D
I like Dom Scott as Drew SO MUCH better.
This guy is the original Drew, he was in the party when rock of ages made it to Broadway
what the shit just happened?
Needs more cowbell! :-)
Meet the dark side of American Idol.
Big deal I have done theater myself...Big deal. But you did not know what you were talking about because you had the wrong end of the stick when you read what I wrote. Now get over yourself and realize you made a mistake.
Wesley Taylor
oh dear
I like the non-equity tour better...
Haha I loved the show but this is so hilariously annoying out of context.
2:00
@sarahlee1224 NOOOO that is a huge mistake
Steve Perry is soooooooo hard to imitate....
I like this but I liked the Melbourne cast better.
it was a musical first
Wesley Taylor- only the most amazing person in ROA.
Tom IS stacee jaxx
yeah! she was annoying when i went to the show and i saw her too! she was like standing up on the side and singing and i was like stop haha
@ayaazmerali1 I think it's this cast that sucks cause I saw it with Dan Domenech, Rebecca Faulkenberry, and MiG Alaya and they were amazing. Yeah and constantine has always sucked

HAH
this show fails to have big enough hair. which makes me very sad
get over yourself and realise i have talent and you dont. ok 2 weeks i will battle you to a sing on skype, inbox me your name and lets get to this, we will battle for money
i love this song so much, but constantine is wearing WAY to much makeup
