I hv also met ppl frm Surinaam (pehle naam bhi nahi suna tha maine) in belgium, dekhne se banda hindustani lag rha tha but thoda different. Usually I prefer striking with Hindustani guys in Hindi, but as u know we r more Indian and they reply back in English as Hindi being alien language :P.... well back to topic, this guy replied back in Hinglish but accent was different. Then he told me he is from Surinam and then also shown on map .. he is my fb friend now.. he holds very high values for our country, uski wife is trained in classical dance and won many awards and very down to earth. Even after many many generations they are still intact with their roots. Which is not possible for our confused Indians. Well I hv lived for a long time away from my country but always portrayed the real picture of India, it is a land of mystic and we understand its values more when we are away.... For some time western culture lifestyle may look good but I hv also seen them suffering, feeling alone, lonely at times.... not saying doesn't happen in our country. But strong family bonds keep us more together.............

on 17th July , I saw this interview and same day I met one person in OSLO, who was born in Uganda and came to Oslo in 1973. His father was traveled to africa from Gujrat (Anand district) at the age of 16 to construct railway lines in British Era. Interview was really nice.

Its not only about hindi. Its about ur mother tongue so even if you speak punjabi ,telgu,tamil,bengali etc all is to do to respect ur mother tongue and never feel that ur native language is inferior to other foreign languages

I was on a official tour there during 2004 in some of their cities like Oslo, Stavanger and to their offshore oil fields. I took every opportunity to understand how this society could attain such technologically advancement and a happy nation too. I found them as a community with a very different temper; comitted to take the bull by its horns.

I had few Mauritius trainees with me in Indian Air Force .They were proud to mention that they have Brahma ji ka Mandir in Mauritius the only one or two on the earth. They were freindly, well behaved and knew they belonged to UP from so and so village.

I visited Mauritius lots of Indian from bihar i seen they speak bhojpuri And they have bhojpuri TV channel, but still in developing conditions. English, French, Dutch taken hard working Indian for work to sri Lanka, Singapore, Malaysia mostly Tamil Nadu.
Khani dil Chu Lena wala hai, I am a descendent of girmitiya,many like me are still puzzled the neglect the mainland Indian population about its people abroad.Fiji Indian have maintained their sub continent culture and proudly highly educated and multi skilled.In one company it employs several doctors and allied health personnel from many regions of India.All bar one knew about Fiji and girmitayas but love our Language and food.

I had interactions with some Figian Indians, their Hindi appeared better , like they study in VIDYALAYA and not in school, their teachers are SIKCHAKS. And India is their ultimate place to visit...their ancestries is particular village in Bihar and they invite you to Figi where they have good motor VAHAN to show u different places.
Exciting and revealing as usual. The extent of exploitation and the subjugation of human soul on such a scale will remain a blotch on human history only when they are told and retold.

Have to get hold of this book. Pitaji was a Girmitiya brought to Fiji in 1911. As a child I grew up with a few Girmityas in the village.
