Some years ago, I crashed my motorbike into a tree and woke up in the back of an ambulance. Because there was no insurance involved (I only had third party and the tree wasn't covered at all) I later got a bill for £50 for the ambulance ride (which, apparently, is normally charged to the insurance company). I happily paid the bill as they'd been really nice and probably saved my life (I'd fractured my skull). A few years later I crashed my (different) motorbike into a farmer's gate-post and woke up in another ambulance. The medic told me that I'd just missed out on a ride in the air ambulance because it had been despatched to my location but wasn't needed as the ambulance just beat them to it (and I was only concussed, so not a real priority). I told him that was pretty lucky really, coz I know it costs £50 for a ride in your ambulance, so f*ck knows how much it'd be for a ride in the helicopter 🤣 (true story that)
may I suggest to crash next time in germany as a german citizen? Because, here you would pay 10€ for the complet rescue and ride. regardless if it´s an ambulance ride or if you are airlifted by a heli or what else is necessary. My Son won the "lottery" by crashing into an obstacle at an wakeboard park. And was airliftet to the nearest maximum care hospital with free capacity and all the necessary specialities. And we got a bill for 10€.
