    Boxed up my 2016 Specialized Ruze (Women’s version) today, and will be shipping it to you tomorrow after a consult Monday with Shane. I’m excited for my e-bike build. I’ve had many nice mtb’s but my favorite by far is my Ruze! That’s why it’s getting a conversion over a brand new e-bike under the Christmas tree! 🎄 😂
    ❤love what you guys do! Game changer! 👍

    Ive actually ditched the gear sensor without any issues, just pull the brake in a few mm, like its a clutch.

    Another awesome build. This one may be my favorite (other than the stock ring).
    Not sure about other places but e-brake cut offs, lights and a bell are required on an e-bike (by law) in NYC.

    I converted a full suspension rock shock bike also bafang bbshd, used a lekkie 42t sprocket 10 speed sram gears but had to mount my 52v 17.5ah battery underneath the downtube as there's no space in the frame for the back shocks, luckily there were screw mounts underneath for external cabling brackets so utilised those, plus an extra strong nylon strap for extra security of battery. Really like the ride as the centre of gravity is now quite low, can't set the front rebound forks too soft as they just catch the battery underside. This isn't a problem as its mainly used on trails and roads.

      What if you used it in place of car rides? You may laugh, but the sous chef, front of house manager and our top bar maid are all non-bikers that are now cycling to the shop where I work because they have e-bikes (yes, bike shop in a tap room).

      That is a great suggestion but I dont think my wife and kids would go for it. As it is we are a 1 car house and I do ride my bike/take the bus to work (with my bike on the rack for bad weather or quite often when I'm not up for a grueling hill climb)
      I'm very jealous of two of my coworkers who ride their ebikes to work.
      One day I will again....about 9 years ago I had a hub drive motor kit that I fried. Definitely want to go mid drive next time.

    If you like that one, the newer generation (2020+) is even better. Longer reach, slacker head tube, and even lower standover height. I sold my full suspension bike shortly before COVID hit last year, as it was overkill for my riding style, and then spent the next 6 months trying to find a nice hard tail. Ended up with a 2020 Fuse Comp 29. I love it and even though it was half the price I paid for my FS, it's definitely the best bike I've owned. I think the 29er is the way to go. Those came with 2.6" tires so you get the rolling benefits of the 29" wheel + most of the cushion from 27.5+. I don't really want to convert mine though - adding 20lbs of motor and battery would take away a lot of the nimbleness that I like.

      Should have no trouble getting what you want on ebay or Amazon, but I believe you'll be disappointed. The difference in braking is minor and modulation, not stopping ability (nothing stops faster than your tires start to skid). If you want to majorly improve linear pull brakes, use compressionless cable housing and "Travel Agents." I had to do something for a gal riding a Townie. Her rear brakes were worthless. Now they feel like hydraulic.

    That's awesome, I am inspired to build a Fuse!! What size bottom bracket did you have to use? Any problems with spacing on the drive side? I was looking into building a Surly Krampus but it looked like some people were having trouble the the spacing because it's a mid-fat bike, if you use a 100mm BB I would be concerned about a super wide q factor and tons of spacers. Thank you!!

    Hey Johnny, appreciate your content. I have a favor/request. Is there any way you can do a video on rear hubs in general and suggestions on a decent one for mid drive motors? I have had an ebike built, and the motor has ruined my rear hub because of the power (BBSHD).
    It was a no name hub that came on the bike "anTaj" which I can find no information about. I dont have a local bike shop so I have to ship it off to get fixed/replaced if possible or buy a whole new wheel which is very expensive for a 26x4. I have looked for used ones but havent had much luck on that front.
    Anyway, enough rambling. Since you do this for a living, I would defer to your expertise on this subject. It is not a quick release. It is a slotted drop out.
    I await your reply. Thank you sir!

      @JohnnyNerdOut  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @ryanohayre2809 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JohnnyNerdOut I’m guessing you meant “not if the brakes DON’T work well”? The brakes work just fine and the bike is in very clean sturdy condition, especially given its age. I’d likely just be doing mostly flat cruising rides with no intent on crazy mountain bike stuff. Would a switch to disc brakes be in order first?

      I put the biggest battery in 52v on mine, pretty sure it's a 20ah. Also you should be able to use the shifter cable internally routed. I HIGHLY recommend a different offset front chainring to better utilize all gears
