Hello, this worked a charm for me. I was running Ubuntu 16.04. Stopped VM on Azure and expanded disk. As you clearly stated, no other operations required, and once VM was up and running, i checked disk size, it had updated. Thank you for this clarification. Hi Cristian, Need to do in case if you are using RHEL/CentOS version 6.x ,7.x. but now from RHEL/Centos 8 it's increasing automatically once you updated in azure portal.
Hi Gun, Data will be accessible. it is not going loss. if you apply redeploy on vm,then you will loss your data if you have saved your data in temp drive. so please don't put data in temp drive.
@@LinuxFork i have installed cpanel&whm image from marketplace at Azure. Later ok i decided to increase the os disk size as it consist of 32 gb only. But the storage has not reflected into the / partition(it is there as an unallocated space) .. But it is under the same partition i.e /dev/sda.

Only thing to keep in mind is if the OS disk is already full, first free up some space and then restart the VM to see OS disk expand.
