  • POV Test ride and review of the 2016 Victory Hammer S cruiser motorcycle. I ride the bike through the city and on the freeway to see how it performs. This bike features a slick paint job, upgraded exhaust system, and a 250mm rear tire for that muscle look. All reviews are 100% unbiased and honest. The bike has a 106 cu in engine that puts out 106 ft-lb of torque and 97 horsepower, 6 speed transmission.
    Filmed on the GoPro Hero 3+ Black in 1080p 30fps Superview.

    I own/ride this bike since september 2015 (was the first to buy it in Canada!). This is my third Vic (Highball, Vegas Ness). This is the BEST cruiser I ever rode (Harleys, Japaneses, etc.). But I must confess I'm 6'2'' / 220 pounds, so it's a perfect match for big guys and girls... Agreeing with this review on most points; disagreeing with the front brakes sloppyness; mine's perfect... One thing missing: the unbelievable SUSPENSION, front and back! It is so edge smooth, even on horrible roads like we have in this part of North America (ever rode in Quebec south west?). I had persistent back problems with ALL my other bikes, Vics included;
    with this riding position and a Biltwell drag bar, it's gone! I usually change bikes every two seasons, but this one's gonna roll for the long run! Finally, it's definitively a eye-catching machine, so expect to be asked / hyped / congratulated a lot!

    Nice review. Rode a Hammer four 6 years. Wonderful bike. Never a problem. Took it on several cross country trips and it was my ride to work. I used two fingers on my front brake because it was so strong. Turning the bike was not a problem but you have to be deliberate when you do it. It would hold its line in a turn like it was on rails. Rode lots of twistys including Tail of Dragon . Just be prepared to be noticed when you ride it.

    Great review on the Victory Hammer S, but I must say; the front brake is (probably) adjusted like that, so if you get into a situation that you have to stop quickly, it will not lock up on you! ( In a panic stop ) Because if it did lock up, YOU and the MOTORCYCLE, could end up with the front tire washing out and on the pavement. I liked your video! Thanks for posting!

    They were the first for six speed, multipiston brakes, and the I think 250mm rear tire. I did the demo on one, and didn't care for the bigger tire when turning. still a nice bike, I would put the smaller width. Sweet colors, nice!

      The rear tire is stable at high speeds but low speed turning definitely requires more effort and awareness. Thanks for watching!

    My Yamaha 1100 is the same way, the front brakes are really mushy, and the rear brake will lock up in a hurry. The front master cylinder is good, tight, and works great, it's the calipers, and pads. I even replaced the pads last summer. I'm going to upgrade to dual puck calipers this spring.
    Even with the lower price tag than the Indian Dark Horse, I would still buy the Indian.

    What is the difference in the engines between the victory line up? I know they are all 106ci well new models anyways. I know they had the older V92 and freedom 100 now the 106. are they all the same or is there variances in like cams or gearing? The two I really like are the hammer and highball. I love the bagger look too so still deciding. I have rode sport bikes my whole life up until 2 seasons ago and bought Suzuki c50. it was cheap and wanted to make sure I like the cruiser. I can say I'll never go back. I have rode 2014 Kawasaki Vulcan vasq. 1700 and Harley dyna. But just think victory is a better bike from what I been reading

    so arch,
    between this hammer and the Vrod which one and why? and between Victory's cruiser lineup vs HD line up? Great video.

    • @arch417powersports
      @arch417powersports  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on what you want. VRod: Very fast, smooth, sporty. Hammer: More true to cruiser mentality, more comfortable, still powerful but not as fast as the VRod.
      It is hard to compare both lineups together and pick my favorite. I like some bikes from one and some from the other.

    What's your opinion on the Stryker compared to bikes like this hammer? I'm a Stryker owner... Wondering about the other bikes though.

    • @arch417powersports
      @arch417powersports  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Stryker handles better because of the smaller rear tire but the Victory feels more torquey and quick. The Victory sounds like more of a classic cruiser also.

      Thanks for the feedback. Looks like I'm going to have to consider it as a future option or possible trade.

    Thanks for your honest and accurate opinion. The direct competion from Harley is the VRod, the cheaper of the two VRods is the Muscle at $16,499 msrp while the Hammer S is $15,400. The VRod gives better clutch and brakes and the V Rod is a little quicker in the quarter, and a few other benefits for the little extra coin. So you do get what you pay for. Personally I prefer the Harley for the smoother ride, better handling and better brakes and clutch but this 2016 Hammer S is nice. Im sure many of us riders would like to hear your opinion of the new Octane even though it is a copy of the Scout lol. Thanks for posting and ride safe.

    If you find this bike to rough of a ride, you're almost definitely riding a gear too high. Drop it down and raise the RPM's and it smooths out pretty well.

    @archinuk417 great video, just wondering what kind of microphone did you use with your gopro?

    • @arch417powersports
      @arch417powersports  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      MXL GoLav MM-165GP. Yes, it is quite pricey but I thought of the use I will get out of it. My old ebay mic was dying and unreliable.
