We grow a lot of pumpkin and my wife, Terry, LOVES pumpkin pie. We have enough dehydrated pumpkin powder to make a pie every ten days for the next year but it still may not be enough. LOL😂 Last season I grew a variety of fairytale pumpkin with a rich orange and thick flesh. I like the taste better than our sugar pumpkins and plan to plant them again. Thanks for great content.

Thank you for walking me through this. I had a bumper crop of pumpkins in my garden this year and I was running out of freezer space. This is the perfect solution! I watched your video from 3 years ago where you make the pumpkin puree by roasting pumpkins (not the canned stuff) then switched over to this video for the rest. You are so clear in your instructions. As always, I am grateful! I am so happy that your channel is doing well. I started following you when you had around 20,000 subscribers and it's nice to see the growth - well-deserved!

this is why we purchased the stainless steel jug for our vitamix. we use it for hot food-- you should never ever use plastic anything with heat as it releases dioxins-- toxins that are cancer causing-- and for anything sharp like this that may damage the plastic jug. We love our pumpkin powder. I use it mostly in muffins and cookies. oh and we add it to our homemade dog food often. super informative video!

This is interesting. This is probably the only item I probably wouldn't think to dehydrate. Because I use canned pumpkin so much for cooking. I use it to thicken chili, to make beef stew, to make curry. I use it instead of wheat flour as a thickener. I don't really use it for baking, bread or desserts, always savory. But I guess if I were making a soup or stew and it is stil not thick enough, I could have pumpkin powder to add to thicken without adding more volume. Hmm...
Further in the comments someone asked about making a just add water pumpkin pie. I respondeda bout purchasing egg powder to use. I use whole egg powder and other powders to make a faux noodle ( molecular gastronomy ) and some have added spinach for green noodles. I think I could use beet powder for red noodle ( i am drying canned beets right now) and I could use pumpkin powder for orange noodles . Homemade Rainbow noodles, eh? Okay, I'll sacrifice one of my precious cans of pumpkin puree to make some pumpkin powder. you've convinced me!

All my pumpkins I grew I made mash. I have none left and I don't want to buy any. So pumpkin pie, pumpkin cookies, pumpkin cranberry bread, pumpkin soup, pumpkin log roll. We so don't buy pumpkin we grow them. We sure hope more grow better next year. Happy Holidays everyone!
