R.J. It is a good practice to keep your vent pipe the same size or larger than the suction pipe. If using downspout for the vent stack material, 3"x4" would be good for 3 or 4 inch pvc suction pipe systems. Remember to seal all the joints in an aluminum downspout vent stack.
Sorry dude, it looks just as bad as it was to start with..... That ugly vent pipe wrapping around the bottom of the soffit, and outside of the gutter! That's a horrible look. The original and your fix are pretty much the same! A much cleaner look us to run your pipe straight up the wall, and straight through the soffit, up through the roof with a pipe flashing installed. This way keeps the pipe tighter to the house wall, and more secure instead of outside of the gutter line.
When using 4 inch PVC, do you use 4 inch downspout or is 3 inch fine?
