You're a brave gal and my hat's off to you carrying on and trying to be a mentor for others similarly challenged. God bless you.

I was just looking out for pressure of the eyes and how to reduce it and found your surgery part 1 and 2 videos .. my heart goes to you and all the people suffering with glucoma. I am so scared as after the test doctor asking me to go for a second opinion . After spending so much doctor are so heartless asking you to go for second option why cant they suggest things at one go. I'm really worried and scared as a single women who is dealing with other health issues as well and now this eyes issue I'm fighting hell out there ..god bless to all and may they all recover from these horrendous health issues.

Thanks for sharing!! My wife has it in both eyes, and 1 eye is blurry the other not as bad. Drops every night, and it seems to be staying the same, not getting any worse.
I wish we would have known more about having more pressure in 1 eye sooner.
When the Dr. says your pressure is a little high, you need to see a eye specialist SOON!!
The Optometrist didn't tell us what that meant or anything.
Thanks for the info and update!!!

Just had surgery on my right eye on Tuesday. I had a trabeculectomy but my eye pressure spiked about a week after so the doctor had to do an implant surgery. I'm currently recovering and I'm grateful for the sight that's left in the right eye. My left eye is fine though. For now no pressure-lowering drops in the surgery eye.
Thanks for sharing. it's good to know I'm not alone here😊

Stay positive it's hard to sometimes I know. I have had 5 retina detachments, I have buckles on both eyes. I have developed advanced glaucoma in both eyes from all the trauma from the surgery's. Cataract surgery in both eyes & multiple laser and cryotherapy's. I think that's it but I'm starting to lose track, Oh yea I have diplopia too. LOL I can actually see pretty well considering, I have been able to drive up until this week. I have a fantastic retina specialist, he saved my vision many times! I'm having optic nerve trouble now, my glaucoma is starting to win the battle just in the last few months. I'm afraid I'm headed for the dark room now, but I have prepaired myself mentally for this final chapter in my life.

I understand and relate to a whole lot of what you’ve experienced. I’m torn between wanting to be totally dark in my severe eye, and wanting keeping the foggy, blurry vision that is left. It is mentally exhausting because the two eyes try to work together and it’s bringing my overall vision down, even though my other eye is quite good, thankfully. Good luck to you, and all of us living with this.

Thank you for the video. I am 47 year old Asian man and my left eye has Glaucoma. I found it out about 3 years ago doing a routine eye exam. The IOP is about 20 and eye drops doesn't really help much, I think. First laser surgery on the top portion of the eye, and I might try to do the bottom portion to see if pressure will go down more. I am trying to delay the surgery as much as I can, but I am not sure if i can given it's slowly progressing. Hope you, me and other Glaucoma patients will get cured one day.

Hello Caitlin, my name is Dexter I’ve been on eye drops for glaucoma in my right eye over 20yrs. I’ve also had laser treatment before too. My vision is good but lately the drops are hardly lowering the pressure in my right eye, the pressure has been as high as 32-35. Today my pressure is 25 in the right eye and 14 in the left eye, my doctor wants me to come back in a month to see if the pressure in the right eye is getting lower and if not, he told me we may consider doing surgery because he doesn’t want me to lose the vision in the right eye. My readings have been 1 month apart. I’m 58yrs old, listening to you gives me some relief just in case I need the surgery. From listening to everything that you’ve been through. I must say you look great for a woman who has been through the tube surgery.

Interesting! I have had glaucoma since 1985 and now at 72, I am on four different drops. Ten years ago, I had a retinal occlusion in the right eye and required monthly shots in that eye for the past decade. Due to all of this, I keep having new veins grown in that eye and now they are even blocking the tube even more that drains pressure from that eye. So, finally I found a doctor who is going to perform this surgery in hopes of draining the fluid in a more efficient manner. As you said, I don't expect to gain any of the vision that I have already have lost, my hope and the hope of several doctors is that it well spare me in the loss of that eye completely and having an artificial one placed in that space.

Hang in there, and thank you for sharing your experiences with us. I also have glaucoma and was diagnosed when I was in my late 50s. Like you I'm extremely nearsighted, and I have been wearing glasses since I was nine. Every night before bed I use Latanoprost, an eye drop for glaucoma. So far my vision isn't getting worse, and hopefully things will stay the same. It's good hearing from someone who has this problem because the doctors don't want to talk about it. I guess they don't wish to scare their patients.

Truly inspiring to see your strength and continued gratitude still throughout this entire situation. Good for you! I will say that the highlight of your facial features are your beautiful eyes! On a side note (and I'm sure you've done this), if you get the time to look at eye supplements and also your diet and what you're eating and maybe seeing a naturopathic doctor, who specializes in eyes to go over all the options. That's what I would do as I had my own health issues and was able to get over my Hyperthyroidism issue naturally without drugs. I'm very grateful that I didn't go to a regular doctor. They would have done more damage than good in my particular situation.

I really enjoyed this update because it’s very similar with my condition being a 21 year old who has steroid induced glaucoma. However, i had two glaucoma surgeries and cataract surgeries in each eye and my right eye is similar to yours being a small hole and blurry, so my left eye is my best eye currently. When I where glasses i also get a headache and strain because it is trying to match up. Hopefully, we both can regain vision again!

@@gaijin140 well I had my first glaucoma surgery back when I was 15yrs old and my cataract surgery when I was 14yrs old. It was only during this pandemic that my pressure risen back up to the point I needed another surgery. At first it was just my right right. They recommended me getting laser first before a second surgery which I did and it didn’t last long so I ended up with a second surgery just last year. Same as the left eye, second surgery this year because they knew it was slowly rising back up. I remember telling me glaucoma surgeries don’t last long either since it is a tube shunt so I figured that was why it rose back up. My glaucoma started from being steroid-induced taking the medication prednisone (pill) which caused my eye pressure to rise above 25. I was taking the medication long-term because I was already dealing with another medical condition.

they really don't know what works it's like they are just shooting dice. they really do not have a protocol for curing anything they are just trying to manage the pressure . you mean to tell me that they can do brain operations and heart lung and kidney transplants and they cannot figure out how to regenerate and restore the optic nerve! this pisses me off. anyway maybe the rtac treatment that I had may be of help to you check it out on my channel

I have glaucoma in both eyes and have for about 20 years. I use 4 eye drops twice a day, and have had laser surgery. My pressure and visual field test results are fairly stable, but I came across some new research recently. Vitamin B3 as nicotinamide is showing promise to help with glaucoma. I am taking 1000 mg/day. I would encourage people to look into this and perhaps start taking it yourself. I haven’t taken it long enough to see if there is an actual positive result, but I am hoping there is.

We are in the year 2021 after all. Stay well and hope to talk to you again. Cheers!

thanx for your update..i recently had pressure surgery for my right eye although when diagnosed about 6 months , pressure in both eyes was extremely high..my dr. told me he saw some nerve damage in my right eye which has been blurry since the diagnosis (had 2 slt's which didn't work)..pressure has stabilized but the doctor is keeping his eye on the left to make sure that doesn't get out of control..i also have cataracts which doesn't help and hopefully i will have them removed when the right eye heals..i was prescribed glasses to help with vision in my left but also protection because as my doctor says, if i was to get hit in the left eye it would be hard to see anything until the left eye healed..one of the things i hate the most is the constant dry eye, it's a nightmare...it's very hard dealing with all this but i keep my hopes up that one day science will find a cure for this horrible disease..much luck to you...

My fiancee have high pressure in her eyes and she is just 40 years old so its why i found your channel. Im glad we live in sweden so her if her eyedrops cost more than 200 dollar she get the rest for free. The doctor told her that it was bad but we dont know how bad yet. I keep my finger crossed.

Not sure how I stumbled across your page. I am so sorry for all you’ve gone through. Please forgive my unsolicited comments. (I am a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained glaucoma specialist.) My concern is prob more just to make sure all your docs stay on their toes for your good eye. Being that it is so near-sighted, it could be worthwhile for your main eye doctor to refer you to a retina specialist and let him or her do a scleral depressed exam (or take peripheral photos with an Optos or similar camera) just to make sure there aren’t any occult retinal holes or tears that could benefit from prophylactic laser to make sure they don’t progress to detachments. Being as near sighted as you are, it’s possible you have a bit of lattice degeneration in your peripheral retinas, and it could be good for a retina doc to just keep an eye on that for you annually. I’d also encourage you to follow with a glaucoma specialist doc too if you aren’t already.
Finally, if you have young kids (or young nieces or nephews) and they are near sighted, consider looking into compounded dilute atropine drops for them to slow the progression (and decrease their risk of other eye problems). I posted an article on it on my FB recently (publicly viewable). It’s not for adults sadly, but it gives additional hope and encouragement for the next generation!
Thanks for sharing your story. Hang in there!

Wow, great timing!!! I was looking everywhere in the web about more information on people who have glaucoma, as my dad have it and I may have inherit it. I have tons of questions like how did you know when to come in to see a doctor for it, how many treatments do you get, and many more!! But first I need to watch your first video on the surgery maybe it'll clear up some. I'm so glad I found you on twitch!!

Can u tell me right from your experience the detailed "ILL & negative effects" of prolonged eyedrop usage of PREDNISOLONE?
My Wife who recently turned 60 years old last July 25 had just undergone a 3- Consecutive SESSIONs of IRIDOTOMY & IRIDOPLASTY PROCEDURE to treat her glaucoma.
The 1st session of procedure last Aug. 02/Friday, was performed on her left eye with a more complicated nature of placement OR CURVATURE of the iris which is quite harder to perform the procedure on part of the Glaucoma Specialist. Although, her right eye had a higher pressure compared to the left eye.
The 2nd Session last Aug. 5/Monday, was performed on her right eye, although, some unfinished procedure was still done on her left eye.
The 3rd Session is just a follow-up sequence to the first 2 Sessions.
The FINALE of the Procedure was performed last Aug. 9 to both of her eyes.
My Wife Czarrie feels much better now, as far as vision of BOTH EYES are concerned - compared to the very 1st GLAUCOMA ATTACK last July 18 in the morn upon waking up. . .which caused a severe headache & blurry vision.
In that fateful day of her first attack i was shocked & stunned on what to do & HOW WOULD I REACT TO SUCH EMOTIONAL CRISIS. For I don't know then yet what it was?
But Czarrie knew then, that the extreme pain in her eyes has something to do with her eyes. . .
    . . .& She was correct!
I intentionally plan to bring Her in that fateful day to Our very trusted Ophthalmologist Dr. but to no avail, there wasn't any scheduled Clinic THAT DAY & secondly, there's no available car in my Sister-in-law's house where we were staying.
    After the procedure healing
Her Glaucoma Specialist who performed the PROCEDURE was reffered to us by Our good & experienced OPHTHALMOLOGIST advices US to proceed back to Our trusted Ophthalmologist Dr. for his commendation for Eye Cataract Surgery known as PHAECOEMULSIFICATION.
The Female Glaucoma Specialist recommend US NOT TO PROCRASTINATE the eye cataract surgery on the next 2-weeks (at least,) for high pressure on both eyes may surprisingly escalate.
I appreciate your VLOG INFO for i learned a lot of Statistics from U that a higher percentage of women are responding than men.
But don't u know that a MARRIED Man like me, find u "hypnotically magnetic". . .
. . .'though u find some flaws of vanity within urself.
I wish we could really² CHAT someday for I WANNA discuss an Ecosystem Technology & Outreach PROJECT of which U can be of BUG HELP!
Bye² for now! & GOD bless U!
Kindly browse & search for CRYSTAL VISION. IT'S an organic med. founded, made & developed by a decorated & be medalled achievement by a Filipino Ophthalmologist Dr.

I haven't try it yet, due to financial struggle & strains.

Guys, just don't trust your IPO measurements by just take a visit to your doctor. To get a correct aproach of it, the IOP should be measured during 24 hours (2 in 2 hours should work). I did it, and crazy stuff happened like: 20 at 6AM and 28 at 1AM... Ask a doctor if you should do this, he will not say no, I bet.

Sorry to hear about your situation. Hopefully a cure is discovered and FDA approved in your lifetime. Did anyone in your family suffer from glaucoma?
Because from what I have heard, it is largely genetic and it is damage to the optic nerve that causes glaucoma and not necessarily high eye pressure. Some people with high eye pressure won't develop optic nerve damage or glaucoma, while some with relatively normal eye pressure can develop optic nerve damage and glaucoma.

This 2 yr update and your prior video were very insightful, thanks for making these! Instead of another shunt surgery, is a trabeculectomy surgery a possibility? It's another type of IOP lowering surgery, except it involves no hardware. Best wishes for your eye (and other) health, going forward!

Hi Caitin, (kendo161) I wonder since the brain is so adaptable if it tries to fill in the missing pieces like it does with memory sorry you have to go through all that I can relate on a different level I've had a bad heart valve most of my life. in 2004 It caused a a blood vessel blockage in my brain had to have surgery which caused a stroke. the good part is the brain is very adaptable I switched fom being left handed to being right handed with time my cursive still sucks but I can print legibly. we know a lot more about the brain now. stroke used to be a death sentance. It forced me into retirement and I can't drive because of seizures that caused unconsciousness for a time till I got the right medication. but hey there is always Lyft , Uber or a taxi. Also wanted to mention that yours and a couple other twitch streams have made me feel a part of society again. So thank you for streaming and just being you. all the best Ken.
