Gunwharf opened as a shopping centre in 2001 and the Spinnaker Tower opened in 2005, it was meant to be known as the Millennium Tower to be opened in 2000. Your hotel room was very nice and you were down just as Victorious Festival was starting. You guys must come again as there is so much to see in our maritime history.

I live in Portsmouth and regularly go to Gunwharf to eat and shop, I must say its nice to see it through someone else’s eyes! If you live in a place you take it for granted, you made it look so attractive for a weekend away. Ive just spent the weekend in London, seeing a show and having a nice meal out and a bit of shopping!

(Fun Fact) The company which produced the iron for The Warrior (also berthed at Portsmouth) also produced the iron for The Spinnaker Tower. Gunwharf Quays has become very expensive recently, not as many bargains to be found as there were 3-5 years ago (it’s my local outlet and I’m not as enamoured any longer - plus the car park is astronomical to park in, making it a very expensive day out - locals in the know use the train, or, at a push, the Park&Ride) One thing well worth doing though (and not too costly), is dinner on The Victory - done that twice (food is catered in and, at Xmas, can be a bit lukewarm, but the history ..... eating where the ratings would’ve eaten and ship’s tour is amazing)
What a great place pompi is, spent a huge amount of time there in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. The queens hotel is till as beautiful. Have always recommended Portsmouth and southsea, well worth a visit especially if your interested in maritime. Your video brought beautiful memories back and I thank you for that.
