I saw this flick earlier last summer and I fell in love with it immediately. The music, the retro aesthetics, the lovable characters, the genuine sense of nostalgia and looming terror all blended beautifully.
I can’t wait to see what these filmmakers tackle next and I sincerely hope we get a definitive Blu Ray set of this film very soon.

Bad idea for a character: Masked Trasher. He is Masked Slasher's sibling or significant other who drives a garbage truck. They just shows up to ruin your audio mix.

Class of 1984 feels like Straw Dogs with teenagers as the villains.

I think the problem I had with this one is, there wasn't much mystery going on. I kind of wanted a few red herrings from which to choose. So it fell kinda flat. Also, I saw this maybe 4 months ago, and basically forgot almost everything about it, and I generally LOVE these throwback ensemble type of films--especially being an 80s baby.

Thats fair enough. There really wasnt much mystery here, haha.

I love the trope of the murderer who puts themself on the murder case. It's such a creepy and paranoid idea.

Had to come back to this vid because I just watched it with some friends. Man, I loved this movie. It was so suspenseful and so creepy and I was like huddled in my chair during the phone scene/conversation. I also found it hilarious that the only good jumpscares were by the blonde.

Then there’s Class of 1999 where the delinquent kids face killer cyborg teachers. Personally, in the Teacher Vs. Kids genre, I always had it down to The Principal and The Substitute as my favorites.

I didn't mind it. I got bored at times but I liked the characters, I liked the reveal of the pictures on the wall that pretty cool. The blond was hot. Overall the ending I didn't hate or love but it was decent overall.

I absolutely loved this movie. I want more, but I fear that a sequel (set in the 90s or 00s when the guy comes back for the kid) may just ruin it.

I really hated the ending of the movie. SPOILER ALERT. So this kid who did all this job to catch the killer, when cops are waiting just across the street to arrest him, he's just like: "Meh... the'll get him, where else he can go" I wouldn't be able to sleep, I'd wanted to see it happening. And thene there's cops: "Meh, we'll just a car with with all the ligts flashing and a bunch of cops in front of killer's house - he'll suspect nothing" It's just stupid and feels so lazy and it really makes the death of the most likeable character of the whole bunch later just cheep and unnecessary. And that dramatic bit at the end seams kind of undeserved and out of place this way.
BTW I just paused the video midway and went ahead to see the movie.

I couldn’t agree more with you. The ending of this movie just ruined it for me. The tone switch did not work - for me - and the killing was unnecessary and just a downer.

Stand and Deliver was the one with James Olmos(the song "Whiskey in the Jar" caused me some confusion).
I only know that because my High School calculus teacher had won some sort of 'best teacher of the year' award four years running, and she made us watch that movie.
We Were the AP class. There might have been two underprivileged people in the room, both of them were my friends from grade school and they HATED that movie. It undermined them.
She won the award a fifth time.

I'm more of a 90s kid, though. Kinda hard to remember stuff when you're an infant. 😋
BTW, I didn't hear the construction noises, but your audio did sound a bit odd, especially in the beginning.

    SPOILER GRIPE APOLOGIES
I loved 95% of this movie and the ending just took a big shit on all the build up and misdirection..... Throughout the whole film we were being led in one direction whilst loads of clues were sprinkled that someone else was the killer... Specifically Davey's dad. He had the van... He was always "working late"... He told davey to not watch the video camera... When they finally got into the room I was expecting a news broadcast to come on saying that the guy Mackey caught was innocent alibi etc.
And Davey's dad planted the bodies in Mackey basement room whilst Davey was grounded. I thought the survivor was gonna say Mackey wasn't the kidnapper or the guy Mackey caught Then when Mackey went on run I thought Davey dad had killed him and dumped body to keep police forever looking for Mackey. And film ends with Davey dad sitting watching a video of one of the murders and then you realised it was him. The hack ending was just so lazy and unsatisfying.
There were loads of red herrings which is a shame.. Because the red herrings for me turned out to be the actual plot.

Hour and 45 minutes i'll never get back, you knew the killer the whole time it was slow and dragged out nothing happened for the longest time
