- If you've ever set foot into Aquamarine Aquaristic or visited the Facebook group "Novice Reef Keepers Australia" you'll have come across Aussie reefing personality Jono.
Now is your chance to see the two home tanks behind the man, one SPS dominated display full of some of the most sort after SPS pieces around and the other is choc-o-block full of some crazy bright coloured Goni frags.
Check out all the corals, the great assortment of fish and all the equipment (including a heap of Reef Factory automations) that keeps these tanks afloat!
Too keep up to date with Jono's tanks and his adventures, be sure to follow his TH-cam: / @nrka
Two reefing maestros, awesome tanks and awesome footage.
Thanks Sub!
Love that tonga look and perfect for Acros.
It works perfect for acropora, and the flow reaches between the Branch's quite well
Yeah it’s a sweet look, both when just scape and also when full
Thanks for the video Sam. Great to see Jonos tank doing so well after all the challenges. And great to see that Millie looking so good as well, it obviously in good hands
I cherish that piece the most.
It’s looking great isn’t it John!
Great episode. Enjoyed watching 👌💯✌️🔥🙌
Thanks mate!
Hi Jonno beautiful tank.
Please take me through the process of how you cycled the tank using AF dry reef rock.
How long was the cycling process.
Thanks
Will see if we can get Jono on to respond for you :)
Beautiful tank! Any links to the light bar and mount? I don’t recall hearing what kind of light bar that is…curious if it’s available in the US? Thanks!
It's the reef factory reef bar L (120cm)
Yep it’s a reef factory bar and I believe BRS in the states carry them now :)
@zburnreefing Are you considering adding these to your Metal Halides?
Amazing tanks mate!!!
thanks for watching!
Thank you 🎉
Cheers Sam for the vid, nice set up and tank Jono.
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for your support this year!
Wow only just seen this video, absolutely love that tank 😮 what model are the power heads
Hopefully Jono will see and respond, jebao change their model numbers too often for me to keep up 😂
Dream setup
He’s done well!!
Nice SPS tank, beautiful gonis. Sam thank you for the effort you put in throughout the year to keep us entertained. Keep up the great work, mate! A happy Xmas and a prosperous new year to you and your family. Cheers mate!
Thank you Antonio, I really appreciate your support over the year. Makes a huge difference to making these videos possible!
Jebao pumps are so underrated
Honestly I got them as I was waiting to decide what I wanted.
And if just loved them so much they have stayed haha
Plenty of power that’s for sure
I have the jebao slw-20 and have it setup literally identical with that short pulse setting. It's like having a tunze wavebox without the bulky box in the corner.
@simonmiddleton6903 sensational!!
Have the Jebao wave makers and pumps running for 3 years with no issues. All the rumours and bad press are from LFSs 😂
Good evening, could you tell me the brand of this lighting bar and the support you used to attach it to the aquarium?
It is from reef factory
Looking forward to 2024. Juno makes it look effortless but that plumbing is beautifully done and was quite a task I’m sure. Maybe add some fish caves. Cheers
Appreciate the support! Jono does well, got a stunning tank on his hands.
Look forward to bringing you new content in 2024!
Well done sam and johno, enjoyed the content and managed to pick up a couple of useful tips to try. Just curious about your par levels johno and merry xmas to both of you
Thanks mate!!
Hey mate, par is 200-450 and I have a video on my tube about par testing the tank
Looking beautiful bro, keep up the good work and bloody clean your back wall 😂😂
Whenever your free bro come and clean it for me 😅😂 I think it cleaned it once in the year. I like the way it looks and it doesn't bother me to much.
I’ll come once a week and clean it 😂😂
Jono said you’d say that!!!
Love both of your work. What was the bacterial issue that Jono mentioned at the start of the video?
Hey Tam, I had a cycling issue with bacteria not seeming to attach and take off so a lot of stalls then when it did cycle the tank seemed over populated or had a lack of surface to attach to, the water was like milk so I added a UV and it went perfect in fact my water goes like that the moment my uv is unplugged or not working, not sure if it's cos I used Dr tims as with some investigation they say it should not be used in systems without sand.. But if never been totally sure for the reason but the UV is a must for me.
Thanks for the question
Iv had suggestions to add some live rock to help as I only add branches of acro or etc the tanks never seen abit of rock from the wild like you will find attached to some coral.
I'm just weary of it
Jono is quicker on the comments than me even 😅
Ciao potresti dirmi come hai regolato i canali delle lampade e intensità?
Temo di non saperlo, presumo fosse tramite l'app Reef Factory ma non pensavo che si potessero regolare i canali sulla prima versione della luce?
Please do an update video on that sos tank in a year
Can do!
Hi Sam, what is the blue and white filter pad called that you use in your cube 20 and where can I get some? Love your videos!
Hey! That’s a roll I’ve had for about 12 years believe it or not! I can’t remember where I got it or what it’s called though sorry, it was perhaps from InTank?
The biggest problem with Waterbox is actually getting one. They are never in stock and even if you get an order in, it take forever to ship and if it finally ships it is usually broken in shipping. Its like winning the lottery getting a Waterbox!
ah that's no good, where abouts are you based?
Any secrets to the Gonis?
I'll leave Jono to reply, but my experience is almost always manganese
Yeah the mangs, and just generally keeping nutrients up😊
Hi sir i want make aluminium stand for aquarium my tank water capacity is 65 gallon can you guide which profile size is best 45×45 or 45×60 can guide me please
Will probably depend on the design more than anything. Take a look at the framing technology website for their products or to copy the designs/profile for your tanks size
What was the light on the tank for the Gonis? 😮
It’s an illumagic pixel
@@ParkersReefwould your light schedule be in the public folder to where we could mimic your settings?😅
Mine or Jono's? Mine is very basic, lots of light for 10 hours a day with one hour ramp either end
In case it was referred to me, mine is basic to no real shifting except ramp up and down
what is he feeding the gonis?
great question, will see if Jono replies :)
Hey mate, I don't feed coral direct.
I feed my fish really well and in return their waste feeds my corals
is that a strippey ?
Hey mate yeah there is a Australian Stripey
Good with sps, touch and go with LPS 😅
How much manganese is he chucking in with all those goni's!? 😅
I'm doing about double recommended dose so 12 drops a day and latest icp still showing 0... Maybe I should go more 😅
I'm using coral essentials manganese for reference.
I also don't iodine and potassium daily on top of the basic amounts in the aquaforest + trace.
Gotta love manganese!
@@NRKA phenomenal colours guys 👌
Yeah, maybe do not share the link to Toplids,, my experience was not great and I’d save anybody else the multiple issues you’ll experience. Get anything else,, take a chance on an un known.
Don't worrie 😂 I did a video quite mad and they saw it.
In hindsight I prob should have taken the high road but that is history now.
Ah well, experiences happen!
Hi Jono, how long is the tube between the RO unit and your tank/IBC. Are there any issues with with that length?
Hey mate, is say it's about 10m. It works. The only issue is the amount of time it takes to purge or flush that amount of line but once the water starts to flow out its all sweet.
Great question, thanks for being available to respond Jono!
