  • How to build a chicken coop? Are you wanting to start raising chickens in your backyard for fresh eggs? In this video, we are going to show you an easy design for an A-frame chicken to build for your yard. This particular chicken coop will accommodate approximately 5 - 6 chickens. Hope you enjoy the video!
    This is where I got the plans for this Chicken Coop. It's an Ana White design, and we just made a few adjustments to it.

    Do the chickens need a rod to roost on?

    How did you figure out how to make the adjustments? I have a metal coop now and want to add a five foot long hen house to the back of that structure and I can't figure out the dimensions?

    Looks good but to small for me that will only hold one or two.

    Do you think this would work in winter where temps get in the single digits?

    • @OurGoldRoad
      @OurGoldRoad  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure how well any coop would do in single digit weather without a heater of some sort. But as long as you face all the openings away from the northern winds than your chicks should be fine. It is definitely not an insulated design, but it should handle southern winters.

    The plans you used. I've used them twice. Once about 6 years ago. And once again this year. I changed it up this time. I kept the width the same, but made the two halves lengthwise 6ft each. And use some shingles on top.
    My biggest issue both times was the door warping, but framing it with the 2x4's stops that, doesn't it? After the first door warped on this one, I used a rather thick piece of plywood and put mutliple coats of paint to protect it. It is holding well so far. The 60° angles were my bane both times. Do you have an email?

    • @OurGoldRoad
      @OurGoldRoad  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah the angles weren’t fun. And that is a good idea with thicker plywood and painting. Is it much heavier with thicker plywood?

    Chicken wire is useless against predators, you want 1/2 welded wire. You also want it on the bottom, predators can easily get under.

      Or through. We had 2 raccoons kill our chickens just by reaching through and holding them and chewing.
