The scariest part for me is during the estes method when you asked who was talking and it replied, "you know." We've heard this other times when asking about Sally. . . almost like the same spirit and tone
Sam being alone in that attic must have been one hell of a trigger! He’s brave, when he looked into the camera you could tell he was terrified, I just wanted to give him a hug, tell him that he was going to be ok. The way I see it is whether or not it actually triggered some activity (I feel like it did) getting into the mind space of those who have been there before him puts it all into perspective, like your feeling the way they did, and connecting with them. Feeling trapped like them. I also think that if something up there was negative, then I feel like maybe it was feeding on Sam’s fear. Makes sense to me that evil beings would do that. Feels like it got stronger the longer he was there alone. Fear is a powerful emotion, being trapped and vulnerable, not knowing what is there, what might happen, and knowing that you are powerless to stop it… be careful guys, PLEASE!!

I genuinely think that Sallie is actually protecting Sam. She never does any harm to him and seems to be there when he's most scared. And since he picked up the attachment of Sallie, there hasn't been as much activity almost like she protects him from them.
Edit: Holy crap this comment blew up. Sallie seems to have left with the new vids coming out we don't see much of her. But I still believe that she was protecting him/ scaring others away. However, I love all the theories that people have commented!!

After hearing that the spirit was going after Sam, especially after Colby asking if Sam was in danger, I would’ve bolted up that attic in a heartbeat-doesn’t matter who is up there….or what….. (I’m a very overly-heightened/sensitive person in general, but also an Empath)

Yes!! I really noticed it in this episode too. The way he looked at Lexi and smiled encouragingly when she began speaking was so sweet and kind I just wanted to reach through the screen and hug him for being such a good soul. Colby is a real diamond, and God bless those wee dimples when he smiles lol.

But that’s one of the reasons I really appreciate how Colby does it - he always has a big smile on his face so the person speaking knows he’s engaged and happy to listen. If more people were like that I doubt I’d feel awkward about maintaining eye contact nearly as much, if at all.

Sam being alone in that attic must have been one hell of a trigger! He’s brave, when he looked into the camera you could tell he was terrified, I just wanted to give him a hug, tell him that he was going to be ok. The way I see it is whether or not it actually triggered some activity (I feel like it did) getting into the mind space of those who have been there before him puts it all into perspective, like your feeling the way they did, and connecting with them. Feeling trapped like them.
I also think that if something up there was negative, then I feel like maybe it was feeding on Sam’s fear. Makes sense to me that evil beings would do that. Feels like it got stronger the longer he was there alone. Fear is a powerful emotion, being trapped and vulnerable, not knowing what is there, what might happen, and knowing that you are powerless to stop it… be careful guys, PLEASE!!
And the fact he was still trying to talk to the spirits in the dark while literally chained up is crazy. The bravery of Sam. I respect him so much
