Very interesting video! I think you presented everything really well. I don't know if you're interested in this kind of info, but the reason the "opal" colors only work on black (or dark colors) is because they are "interference" pigments. They are manufactured to work like a prism and break light into different wavelengths, but only reflect certain of those wavelengths back. On black or dark colored backgrounds, most of the light is being absorbed and so the effect is very obvious, but on white or light backgrounds, a lot of light is being reflected and so the effect is washed out. Thanks for posting this very helpful video and keep up the great work! :-) P.S. I'm not much of a "talker" myself (which, like your kids, mine attest to a little too freely. Ha ha), but I find I can chat about crafts almost anytime. LOL
Tiffany Solorio I believe +Kylo feels your pain is correct regarding the opal magic using interference pigments. I think the metallic are a pearlescent/mica pigment. The last one may be like the duochrome pigments like I’ve seen in some Daniel Smith watercolors. Duochrome colors appear to be one color on light and a second color on dark, unlike interference which is a single vivid color on dark, but are nearly invisible on light. I am watching on a phone, so it’s hard to know for certain. Hope that helps, and thanks for introducing me to a new product! HAGD 😸
Too badly aren’t marketed that way. Opal Magic is marketed like that but NOT the Metallique and it’s terribly disappointing because this wax is tiny for the price and who the hell wants watery brown poo color on white? Not me! Truth, there are several brands that provide solid vivid rich color consistent from black to white and double the size for less money. So I will not buy these anymore. If you want straight color metallics from Prima get the metallic acrylic paints. The turquoise is literally layered in brown on top. It’s weird.
Tiffany, you are NOT boring. Your videos are soothing and fun to watch--don't worry! No need to apologize. We love you. We really do. I'm glad I found your channel and I subscribed. ❤️
Thank you so much! I have just discovered these waxes and learnt a lot from you. You are not boring at all and your purpose of showing us how to use them is great!! I live in the south of Chile (end of the world) and if not for these videos there is no way I could learn how to use them. I am in love with these waxes and the many possiblities they offer, specially after watching you video!!! Love from chile!
Tiffany....great job in showing us the product and how to use it. Love all the colors and how you combined some of them. Not boring at all and thank you for sharing with us! Cheri
This is a great demo. I looked up something like this on your channel the day I ordered 2 waxes bcbi wasn't sure which one to get but this is so helpful when I order more. Thank you
You are not boring at all. I've been looking for a video about these. I bought the Metalliques but now I wish I had gotten the Opal Magic. Thanks for doing this. I love your videos.
I absolutely LOVE these Metallic Waxes, the colours are so gorgeous and I love how you can create different colours depending on whether your surface is dark or light, so it's like having two waxes, each one in a different colour, for the price of one. The Magic Waxes are lovely too, but as they only work on dark surfaces, I think I prefer the Metallics. Now I've got to go and buy the Blue Velvet wax, and the Vintage Silk. Beautiful 😍! Thank you for this great video tutorial. You explained everything very well. Love from Amanda
Thank you for making this video. I watched it all in real time! lol! It gave me an idea of what the colors look like and that's what I was hoping for. Thank you!
Thank you so much and no not too long. I love them all which is a bit of a problem. The antique are really different and I love the on the white. It gives it a really old look. Thank you for taking the time to show us.
Tiffany you did a great job with this video, I loved it. I learned something, I have 15 different ones and just learned there are 3 different kinds. So see you taught me something very good. Thanks for sharing!!
Hi new subscriber here. Don't apologize. You're not boring at all! I actually like just watching and learning without so much noise. These waxes are amazing and I can't wait to get some and try them for myself😄
Not bored at all thank you they just got all of these at Michaels along with paints stencils clay ect so I purchased 2 waxes to see but think I will love them
Well, I've been doing a bit of research in order to buy some as I don't have any waxes by Finnabair, so this video was of a great help! From what I read somewhere, I'm not 100% sure so please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, I think that the difference between the "antique wax" and the "metallic wax" is what you have already commented on. The antique wax has a brownish base in it, in order to give this antique look when applying. TFS and you are not boring at all!!! :) xxx
Thank you so much for watching. After I did the video I thought about it and of course it would be a brown tint... lol. Sometimes my brain doesnt work LOL!
I only have two colors and I regret not getting more when Michaels had them on clearance a few months ago... :( They don't even carry them anymore and I really love them and would love to get more.
I don’t know where you got the idea that you ramble. I loved this video, as I am new to mixed media and needed someone like you to show me the waxes, their properties, and how they worked on the two surfaces. I’m ordering them all and doing a search to see if you have a video on the Art Alchemy Metallique Paints. Thank you from your newest subscriber!
Great video! I'm just starting out learning about all these different art supplies and this was very helpful in learning what these waxes do. They are amazing. And I know which waxes I want now because of your video. Thanks.
Great video and a lot of great information. I wasn't going to really purchase any because I have a bunch of Viva Decor waxes but these have many different properties so I think they will make a great addition to my craft arsenal!! Again, great information and you are certainly not boring to watch or listen to!!! Thanks so much!
Thank you Melanie! I have never tried Viva Decor waxes. I do like the Tonic Studios Nuvo embellishement mousse as well. There is so many different uses for it.
How funny! I never heard anyone else think they smell like Raid except me! I instantly think of the smell after my grandpa used his old fashioned pump spray can. You know, the kind with the long plunger which always made a funny sound when pumped.
I just purchased a few of these at Michael's since they were 60% off. I wanted to know what they are and how to use them and wah lah I found your video. It is very helpful and not boring at all. :)
Thank you! I really want to buy a few of these waxes and I appreciate this video! Going to go with the turquoise! Beautiful! Loved the effect in one of your other videos!
Hi I am always so late to any party, I just received the mystic turquoise early today in the mail, then lucky me, stumbled on your great video. These are a little confusing, at least to me, because the packaging doesn’t give specific details about any differences they might have. I want to point out there is a big difference in the mystic turquoise you demo and the one I just received. Mine did not have that lighter brown color under the blue, all it had was more blue under the blue. I did watch a Finnabar video yesterday, she mentioned they can separate, the wax from the pigment. It did look like the dark brown, antique part of the name, was some what separated from the blue. I just took a toothpick and mixed it all together as advised in yesterday’s video. I didn’t notice prior to mixing 2 difference colors in the jar. With the luck I’ve had in my life recently, I have no doubt I must have the off tin and I’ll return it. Btw, loved the smell when I first opened too, I can see where your husband can say it smells a bit RAID, no though, arghhhhh, I’m done smelling it, enough already, my hands and fingers are attached to close to my nose I think and it’s a strong smell that doesn’t subside at all. Thanks for the educational video and I don’t think I would of ever known or had any idea that in fact, I had received a rare dud from their line of products, but it’s ok I still just love them all also happy creating!
Excellent job Tiff! If you don't talk much then people should really listen to what you say when you do! LOL No matter how advanced you are there is always a time to learn new things. I enjoy listening to you and learning from you! Have a Blessed day!
Thank you for doing this video... I've been wanting to get some but wasn't sure on which ones do this was a huge help. Love videos like this. Great job! Tfs, Janice
Tiffany, you presented the different waxes so well by using white embossed card stock and then covering the card stock with black gesso. As a newbie, this video was so helpful. I have a question that you might be able to help me with. I have a framed mirror that I picked up at the thrift store to overhaul (currently a yellow/ivory). The decorations on the mirror are ornate and beautiful. The mirror is for my granddaughter who is turning 16. So I want to make it for a young lady. I like the black gesso effect with the different waxes - colors really pop. If I decide to go with making the mirror with a base of white gesso and then use the colors that will pop on white. What colors would you recommend if I was going to have a white background. Also, I saw someone using a hot gun to make the wax melt? Does that make a difference in appearance? Thank you for taking time to answer my questions. All guidance is so appreciated.
Thanks so much Katrina. The wax that will work on white are the Metallique and the antique ones. I hope that helps. Also I have not tried melting it. I think that would be super cool!
I'm sure this is a silly question but I'm a complete newbie at paper crafting annnnnnd, I'm a craftaholic so I buy random supplies because they look cool.... What kind of paper are you using and what did you use to make the paper black?

Thank you so much, I am just now discovering the art alchemy products and all of the mixed media items and way in ooh over them.
There is paste... like modeling paste or light paste and you use a stencil and apply it. Let it dry and then paint it black. Then you can use the wax over it. I have lots of other videos sharing how i do this! Thanks so much for watching. I hope this helps.
Your video was great! just be you! Thank you so much for taking the time to show us what they are and how they differ on black and white papers! I love the ones that showed up on the white to! Again thank you very much! God bless! Love hugs and prayers! O:-)

Inka gold is very different to the waxes and if your inka gold dries out use a bit of water and use as a paint they are beautiful and so are these waxes. @@Tiffany.Solorio

So do you use them in acrylic painting s.?

what paste do you use for background and what is the black on background?
I used white gesso and black gesso to prime the paper before I added the waxes on. I hope that helps. Thanks so much!
Can these waxes be used on metal tarnished hard wear
They can be used on metal but I would not use it on something that will be touched often. The wax does dry permanent but if handled often it might smudge. I hope that helps some.
Tfs, a question, wich is that stencil?
It is a Prima stencil. I believe it is discontinued. It is called flourish damask. Thanks for watching.
what did you use on your paper?
