In Roberts defense, I feel like nowadays you need to say that! I’ve seen the top YT beauty gurus do makeup on other people and it looks like shiite! They can only do makeup on themselves which means they’re not real life MUA’s!

It's interesting watching a trained artist vs a "guru". Robert, Wayne Goss, Bobbi Brown, Whitney Hendrix, Jackie Aina ect... Have totally different techniques than the gurus. They also make it a point to tell you the difference between natural, day, night, editorial and stage make-up.

    • @lenaboyer6981

This is exactly how I think of it! It's the difference between saying "You have to wear blush" (not true) or "If you have a round face, you need to apply blush this way" (also not true), and "If you apply blush in a certain way, you will get a certain effect" (true).
I'll kick anyone who tells me I can't wear blush on the tip of my nose; I think it looks cute as hell 😂

Shao-Ning - I use foundation brushes to buff things out so they aren’t so concentrated/bright. Definitely start with a small amount of product but remember that almost everything can be fixed - worst case scenario, you need to cover it up and start again. I like to practice when I don’t have to be out the door like ten minutes ago.

This is really important but some girls seem to be resistant to any reasonable advice. I have a friend she wants her nose tip to look sharper and more pointy BUT she puts constantly a ton of highlighter ON the tip of her nose. And then complains: my nose tip looks so huge....🙄 and when I told her why her answer was: yeah but on IG (gurus) it looks so bomb, they also put it on the tip.... 🙄🙄
Alright girl, do whatever you want🤷🏼‍♀️ they want to change things but if you tell them how, they still know better...😂

Thank you Robert. My sisters got the cheekbones- I got the cheeks. I’ve been trying to have that look for decades. With your help, now I think I can achieve it. I just found your channel two weeks ago and have been binge watching you the whole time. It’s nice to see I’ve been doing some things right and I can improve others. As you age , techniques that were used years ago don’t always work anymore. I don’t want to look 21 again (slim chance) but I would like to be my best self and , if not modern, just fresh. I appreciate your educational techniques , expertise, and professional approach. Regards from USA, New Jersey.

I really appreciate you using a lot of product for us to SEE where the product is and how it's blending. I watch a few beauty channels, I learn their techniques, I try to imitate, and it just isn't applying the same.
After watching your videos I've had many of "Ah ha!" 💡 moments.
Thank you for your content 🙏🙏🙏

Thanks so much Robert. In my mid sixties I’ve a longer face, but still have a nice facial balance. This year I started using The Ordinary products, and begun wearing make up. When I was younger, I looked after my skin, with very little make up. Now I am learning all over again, and transformed but was confused with the different views on the cheeks. This is by far the best demonstration and explanation for my face shape. Kisses and 🌟⭐️🌟⭐️🌟to you.

So so glad I watched this video , I hv a round face and my whole life I always smiled and that’s where I would place blush on apples of cheeks because that’s how I was taught omg game changer !! Can’t wait to try this ! Subbed 😀

Thank you for this. Before watching this video I rarely wore blush because I looked as if I had Fifth Disease when I applied it, since I used such a heavy hand. Now I know what to do for my round face, what kind of brush to use, and where to place blush. Thanks for boosting my confidence.

I'm new to your channel and I'm so glad I came across it. Your videos have really helped me improve my technique. You really take the time to explain everything, even the way holding the brushes. Recently I've had complete strangers come up to me and compliment my makeup. It's really thanks to you and your videos. 😊🥰

I'm not sure if you already have a video explaining what highlighter is for, how to pick the correct color, and how much/little to apply, but that would be very helpful to me.

you're so charming! i really love your videos. I'm a complete newbie to make-up and pretty young too, and the make-up tips often shared by influencers never quite worked for me. i also find the make-up they display way too glam and exaggerated, when i much more prefer a more natural and subtle look for myself to enhance my features. your tips make a lot of sense to me and work really well!! im happy i found you to help me along this new make-up journey im taking 😁
