    Great video. Still working on figuring out which capacitors to order, since after my monitor quit and I opened it up I found 12 leaking capacitors. Its a wonder it worked for so long.

    My Acer AL1916W A just died. The screen went black but the power button was still on. I turned it off and back on and after the screen I was looking at shoed for 1 second then the screen went black again. A few years ago another Acer monitor died. I couldn't figure out how to open it so I threw it away. This time I am determined to fix it. My AL1916W doesn't have a single screw on the back.

      Same here, no screws on the back, and it happends the same but when I put the flashlight from my phone in some angle I can still see the image, so it's something to do with the screenlight in my case, try to check if the same happend to you, looking on some forums, it seems that I need to replace the light inverter or something like that, I just wish to know where to find that

    How to tell if a capacitor isn't working? My monitor isn't turning on at all. What could be the issue? Please help.

    I have the same monitor. My led went orange and never power up to green. I found 4 or 5 bad capacitors replaced them with new ones , no change. Still doesn t power up. I ve checked and measure all the diodes from power board , I have 4 CI on radiators I m suspecting they are right, don t see anything blow up or something, also 2 little transistors, which seem fine, resistors ok. From PoweBoard it goes out around 5V where it should be, and another voltage 14, 5 V or so into the logic board. What can it be? I can t figure it out. The led is stay orange. Press, press no change. It doesn t power up to green. I ve checked the little switch board seems ok all the switches. What are the 4 cables that goes left up into another long top screen board? Can it be faulted? Maybe u can help.

      derek33111 does it say no signal? If yes then it could be your cpu not the monitor

    Nice video. I have the same problem as 63 zituh. If I manipulate the buttons, I can make the Empowering Technologys pop up go away. It always comes back though. I don't think it's anything to do with the computer, I think the AL1916W is failing. Can you think of a reason it would act this way please? Thank you, Jamie

    Hi dude, great video. I have one of these acer, with same symptoms. Do you remember the specs of the ordered capacitors and how many of each?. I need to order them and i cannot see the board because the monitor is at my parents house. I’ll truly appreciate any feedback. Cheers. Edited: disregard my previous message i found the info in the comments below. Thx

    Thanks for the video Jim! Where do you order caps from?

      I ordered my capacitors from DigiKey but they could also be ordered from other places like Mouser or Amazon. If you have a local store that sells electronic components like Radio Shack or something similar, you might be able to find them there also.

    What are the values of the capacitors you replaced? I need the same ones on my board.

      CaptDantastic thanks for watching! Sorry it's taken a few weeks to respond. At 6:00 I mention one of the caps is 1000uF and the others are all 470uF. The ones on the board were 10 volt rated.. I'm pretty sure I replaced with 25 volt though. Capacitor like these should have their values printed on the side of them. Hope that helps!

    Thank you for your video, can I install a 16 V instead of a 10 volt.? Once you fix this, how long does this last?

    • @jimmyriggedsolutions3572
      @jimmyriggedsolutions3572  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes a 16 volt capacitor would be fine in place of a 10 volt capacitor. When done properly and carefully, this repair will last until the new capacitors go bad or until something else goes bad.

    Hmm... I have the same monitor, same model number, but no screws! I don't know how to get into it... yet

      same model different revision, if there are no screws that you can see then that revision probably doesnt have one. scratch stickers maybe there are some beneath them. gl

      @@petar932 Thanks for the reply. I finally braved the unknown and just pried it apart. There were no stickers other than the center info plaque. The frame just clipped together. I was able to get in and replace all caps.
