- This video discribe the procedure of calculation of Safe Bearing Capacity of Shallow foundation and Permissible Load that can be carried by a footing. We have used Terzaghi's Method for calculating safe bearing Capacity
Terzaghi’s method is, in fact, an extension and improved modification of Pandtl’s (Terzaghi,1943). Terzaghi considered the base of the footing to be rough, which is nearer facts, and that it is located at a depth Df below the ground surface (Df ≤ b, where b is the width of the footing).
Normally the BCS (Bearing Capacity of Soil) is determined by soil investigation on site through boreholes. This value has to be divide FOS = 2 or 2.5 ! Thank You!

Divide the SBC with Area of the footing.
Once again to tell how to compute the value of length of footing
For calculating bearing capacity, length of the footing is assumed as 1 meters. It is not calculated. If you're asking about design of the footing, the length comes from loading and flexural requirements.

Factors are available along with code. If codes are not allowed in the exam then you will need to remember them.
