Great video as always. I stayed in that delightful city some years ago in the month of August which is the middle of winter in the southern hemisphere with Auckland being almost as far south of the equator as New York City is north of it. While Auckland is not nearly as cold as NYC it is nevertheless very cool and refreshing at that time with the afternoon light very like that of NYC in say late November. I loved it!
I call it a cardigan climate. Hottest day of the year, you may still need a cardigan at night. Coldest day of the year, a cardigan may be enough during the day lol.
Here I am looking up reviews on this hotel for my upcoming trip and what do you know, my favorite TH-cam reviewer has already posted a review on it! Hell yeah, now I can book with confidence.
Thanks for the video Kevin. It brings back fond memories of when I stayed there in 2018. It's a solid hotel option esp. with the shuttle van service further into town, but next time I visit Auckland, I'll probably stay closer to the waterfront / marina end area. (Hope you got to try kiwi ice-cream !)
Ah good memories 😂 I remember we had the University ball there when it was still the Sheraton. When it was Langham , it was a bit run down. Now that they have revamped it can definitely stay there next time I m back in town 👌👌👏 thx for the review as always !
I am glad that you had a nice stay at the Cordis . Coincidentally we also stayed at the Park Hyatt Auckland where I had a better experience. Both were booked through Amex FHR
Nice room! especially the bathroom, has a classic and solid look to it. And trust the Kiwis to come up with healthy chocolate fountain option for breakfast lol😂😂 😂
Bathroom products at luxury hotels, you ask, yes, they should be a unique scent (subjective). l fondly remember the beautiful Le Labo Bergamote 22 from Park Hyatt Melbourne and wish we had taken every bottle of the shower gel and then asked for more because its so expensive. Every time l smell, it takes me back there. I remember a hotel in KL that had a chocolate fountain and ice cream selection at the breakfast buffet. You can guess what my then child ate for breakfast every morning of that stay. I really enjoyed getting a peek at this hotel, love it 👍
A beautiful venue overall. I like the scenic photos on the level corridors and the contemporary art pieces on the common areas. The room is quite refined, as well. As for the tolitries, I do believe that luxury hotels need to invest on the front and a cheap product does real damage to the overall customer experience
The thing that astounds me about it is… decent products really aren’t that costly, especially with bulk dispensers. The hotels pay a fraction of a fraction of what we’d pay for the same. Thanks for watching 🩴
Maybe check out the Langham in jakarta? Some of the rooms I've seen in some other reviews are stunning with floor to ceiling windows and marble everywhere.
@@tfft speaking of indonesian hotels, if youre going to bali hoping to see a raffles bali/buahan banyan tree review! Even though they're quite pricey and I know you fund all these yourself!
Looking forward to your next video. Brisbane local here! Did the same flight in a June but in J. No reviews of a Brisbane hotel coming up? A pity you didn’t stay at SO/ Auckland, would have love to see your opinion of that establishment. Ours was a disaster. If you’re on trip advisor read my review.
I was in Brisbane for around 11 hours 😅 The SO/ was on my list but rates for my specific time there were crazy high. As for TripAdvisor… after years in the restaurant industry, I stay as far away as I physically (and digitally) can from them lol. Thanks for watching 🩴
I'm someone who likes my soap to smell like soap. I'm very scent adverse. Last vacation I brought along a bar of Ivory soap to be on the safe side. I will agree with you that mint is better than lavender.
It's not guaranteed, but I'm trying to think of a time when there was no upgrade available and I can only think of one. Mind you, there are only for select hotels bookable through AMEX, not any hotel.
I'm not sure if this is possible but can you make playlist also based on your scoring (or maybe you have made them?)? I was searching through your video playlist for the >96 points and the 90-95 level, but couldn't find one. Thanks!
No lol. That would then mean making playlists that also focus on the worst scored videos which I've no interest to do. That aside, the "My Favorites" playlist serves the purpose well. Thanks for watching 🩴
What do you mean when you say that it feels solid and real during the section when you were describing the room? Do you mean to say that the furniture and everything inside felt durable?
Thanks
Great to see you had a packet of that Kiwi/Aussie choc drink classic "Milo" in your room! Looked like you had a really nice stay. Cheers
I love a good iced Milo! Thanks for watching 🩴
Lovely review, thank you! Next 5 videos all 🩴 must watch and one 🩴🚨🩴…..🙈 Can’t wait!
Lowest score I’ve ever published 😳😳😳 It’s a doozy lol. Thank you as always for your support 🙏🏻
@@tfft wow…even lower than the Shangri-La Fiji 😰….and in my new home country…I’m really worried now 😅
Thanks for the great review + video!

Great vid. I live in Auckland and didn’t know the history of the property. Thanks for the info.
Beautiful city you have!

I like the “new” graphics for the Transportation time to hotel!
Thanks very much 🙏🏻 2 more bonus points if you can spot the hidden imagery in them 😂

So glad to see Kevin finally liking a hotel..
You talk as if every hotel for the past 6 months scored below 50 lol.
@@tfft Its not about the score. Its your overall impression of the hotel which, for the first time since I have followed your channel, looked good.
When it was the Sheraton the outside of the hotel was a pinkish colour, it really was the talk of the town back then
I didn’t know that, but I’m 89% sure I imagined it being light pink haha. Thanks for watching 🩴
I am glad that you had a nice stay at the Cordis . Coincidentally we also stayed at the Park Hyatt Auckland where I had a better experience. Both were booked through Amex FHR
We had opposite experiences at both it seems 😅

One of the more underrated Le Labo scents I’d say, taking second fiddle to the (just ok) Santal 33.
Welcome to NZ hope you enjoyed your time here! :D
Always!

I'm fine with that- I don't mind a mild soap smell, just keep the Irish Spring away lol
Ok, here's my guess for the upcoming video - Six senses Fort Barwara in Rajasthan.
✅
Hi, is there a charge for the snacks in the mini bar?
Sure is.
Premium price, premium amenities and products , but I rarely use them so it’s not a huge deal for me.
Nice video.
… I hope you bring your own then 😂
@@tfft always that’s why god invented “travel size” 😆

you should see queenstown then! @@tfft
I prefer a bar of soap. Body wash makes me feeling like someone slimed me ala Ghostbusters 😊
Hmmm, how do I say this... you may be using body wash incorrectly 😂
include 100 euro credit? What is it? Food for the restaurant? I do not understand:)
Property credit for any expenses at the hotel, included with all AMEX FHR bookings. Thanks for watching 🩴

Yes real wood as opposed to cheap hollow core veneers which are very common these days. Thanks for watching 🩴
Could you do more economy class videos? Maybe people on a budget could use a bit help.
There are over 30 economy class videos on the channel already and I’ll continue to fly it just as much. Thanks for watching 🩴
