    C'mon make a real list. Reasons to not come to Tucson: High crime, homeless problem, huge drug problem, poorly maintained roads, 5 month long insane summer, and once you do the tourist thing there is very little to do in Tucson. Mexican food in Tucson is number one in the world however.

    It's an interesting clip and an upbeat speaker. However, I'd hoped for an honest assessment of the pros AND cons, not a coyly worded all compliments clip. This clip leaves me still with no idea of the downsides of living in Tucson as it lacks objectivity. Saying you won't like Tucson if you don't like biking is ridiculous. If someone is not a cyclist they could still love Tucson. They'd just not cycle. Same with saying you wouldn't like Tucson if you didn't like art, or stargazing, or bird watching. That's silly. I appreciate the narrator's enthusiasm and love of the city. But I am looking for an honest assessment, warts and all, rather than a cheerleading chant.

    You missed the main reasons people don't like Tucson. The heat in the summer. Its only second to Phoenix in that respect, its unbearable unless you have A/C or a Swamp Cooler. Expect a high electric bill in the summer to pay for your A/C. High rents too.The roads full of potholes, expect damage to your cars suspension, lack of street lighting, poor street drainage so expect flooding in the monsoon, and too much traffic and a lot of road rage.

    I lived there five years, the things I don't like about Tucson: Trashy people , shitty roads, bad government, lazy and uneducated people, University of Arizona sucks (even ASU is better) crappy DEI mayor and government, city is backward and most of the city has made no progress or growth since the 70s or 80s and looks that way, Whole swaths of the city are incredibly ugly, and lots of crack heads and other drug addicts. The pros include beautiful mountains and National Park and some trails. The food and things she claims in the video are things that any city has and virtually every other place in the US else beats it on every measure. This person in the video said she hasn't lived anywhere else so she has no perspective. The only award this city has ever received is the " city of gastronomy" which was probably just given out for PC reasons and the food they are talking about is mainly mexican food which all cities have now.

      I don't know about ASU being better, but your right about government, the roads etc. A great place to visit and live in the 60s and 70s. Downtown was wonderful in the 60s. Alot of history which has been destroyed to build a better more ugly Tucson

    The entire East side of Tucson is completely UNSAFE. Assaults and property occur daily with police seldom responding. Look at all the trucks and riffraff parked on front yards and blocking fire access lanes. Paramedics and fire trucks cannot get through. There are several trailer parks that are nicer and safer than Civano. Biggest bad investment I ever made. Oh, and abortion rallies every Saturday. If you like that sort of thing, 4th Ward Tucson City Councilwoman hosts the political events on Saturdays right in your neighborhood where the children can hear it.

Summer hot but the monsoon’s bring really pretty thunderstorms with lightning displays and fall warm with nice breezes. Tucson has a couple nice malls and plenty of high end resorts. In my opinion it’s beautiful especially in the foothills with all the desert trees. SO much prettier than let’s say Phoenix metro. Tucson mayor Romero needs to stop her playtime and be a real mayor. It's gotten so bad with illegal immigrants here. Beautifying Tucson is one thing, focus on immigration, the homeless, transportation, fentanyl etc..those sre priorities. She needs to acknowledge that is a big problem here. She went to DC with other city mayors. Romero stuttered in her interview in DC, but never mentioned the immigration issue 🧐. One thing she NEVER has discuss the border issues. AP Reporter saw the percentage of citizens complaining & are unhappy on social media. It's honestly a big problem. And disappointedly we voted for her. 🤨

    I used to live there in the 80's. Winters are great and even summers are not that bad, humidity is low so it in not uncomfortable at all. Even in summer one can hike in late afternoons and evenings. Because it is a desert, temperature falls down quickly after the sunset. The weather is so stable that you seldom need to listen to the forecast. The sprawling campus of the University of Arizona is very vibrant and cosmopolitan.

    Recently spent a week in staying in downtown Tucson as a visitor. The historic buildings and walkability made it quite fun and interesting. However, your downtown is being taken over by drug addicts, mentally ill and homeless. We were told by our hotel to use extreme caution at night and avoid walking. During 7 days we experienced aggressive panhandling, attempted car break-in, mid-day arrest and foot chase and being berated by homeless. We had a very pleasant dinner at a wonderful restaurant one night but the walk back to the car was a sketchy gauntlet of homelessness. Many nice things about downtown, but not in a hurry to return - too bad.

    I lived there for 4 years (early 90s), and I had only 3 real negatives about life there. July/August were absolutely miserable temperatures....while 7 months out of the year (especially winter). 2nd, the water had a funny taste, and after 4 months....I gave up on tap water for anything beyond coffee. 3rd, getting from one end of town to the other....was a massive pain.

    • @TucsonArizona
      @TucsonArizona  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes! All of this is so true! A lot of people here have reverse osmosis systems to filter the taste of the tap water. And yes, it’s a hassle to go from one end of the city to the other. (And I can confirm all this, as a real estate agent). 🤣

    • @spartacusyoya
      @spartacusyoya 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Why does the water taste so bad? I live in a city in central Alberta, Canada most peeps drink the tap water but I never drink the tap water 'cause the chemicals make it taste horrible.

    • @rhammond2152
      @rhammond2152 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@spartacusyoya Around Tucson, there are 'filling' stations where you bring your 5-gallon water container....put the cash in, an your bottle is filled with 'filtered' water from the city system. Neutral taste. I often thought that the water-industry selling you the filtered stuff....must be paying the city to do nothing....so that you got hooked on filtered-water. Even on the base, they had one or two of these filter-stations.

    • @spartacusyoya
      @spartacusyoya 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      In most large food stores in our city there are filtered water dispensers but it is a pain to have to haul 5 gal jugs back home. I add a pinch of sea salt and a little bit of baking soda to filtered water to get re-mineralization and increase pH. Sometimes I will buy a bottle of quality high pH spring water or high pH purified water and mix that with filtered water to create a quality drinking water. Yeah, it is sick to have to go through all that work just to drink and cook with quality water.
      I met an old guy in the 'hood recently, said he was living here since late 1940s. He told me they just dug a water well, and life was good.

A ton of our residents are either snowbirds who only live here in the winter time, or students who only live here during the school year, or people who move here from other cities and Mexico to stay here for a short period of time just to work here. We have a lot of people coming and going. We’re also a pretty laid-back town where things don’t really move that fast. 😆
