Just yesterday I passed my end of yr doctoral defence for yr one (at my uni we have to do one to progress to the next yr). They said my 10k word document was a pleasure to read. I owe you a huge thanks as you are my go to academic guru. Keep up the great work.
Congratulations on passing your end-of-year doctoral defense! I’m so glad to hear the content has been helpful and your document was well received. It’s wonderful to know you found value in the advice - keep up the fantastic work as you move into the next year! Thank you for the kind words, and I’m honored to be part of your journey :-)
@@DegreeDoctor no thank you for doing this for us. TH-cam is so often full of mindless nonsense or light throwaway entertainment, so it’s great to have a channel that genuinely helps our little academic community.
Good morning, Liz. I’m setting up the scene to edit my conclusion chapter, and it’s nice to see your new video first thing. It would be great to see more videos on PhD thesis writing and editing. I’ll be sticking with you for the rest of this year and next!
Good morning! I’m glad you’re finding the videos helpful as you work on your conclusion chapter. I’ll definitely keep the PhD thesis writing and editing content coming, so stay tuned. Best of luck with your chapter, and I’m here to help as you finish up this year and next!
It all depends on what your institutional requirements are, so try to get hold of a copy of your college or university's regulations. Usually, it's in the ballpark of 80,000-100,000 words.
Here are some prompts to get started with, and also check out my video on the Introduction Chapter - th-cam.com/video/yDBf2dPeNcg/w-d-xo.html "List key questions I should answer when writing the background section of my introduction on [topic]." "Suggest ways to connect my research aims and objectives to the broader context of [topic] in the introduction." "What elements should I reflect on when crafting the opening sentence of my introduction for [topic]?" These prompts are aimed at stimulating your own ideas and guiding your thought process as you draft your introduction. If you'd like more tailored prompts or have specific areas you're stuck on, feel free to ask!
I'll be coming back to this in the Spring, when I'm reviewing and editing.
