I'm still wondering where the "7 years" comes from, since the text of Daniel does not speak of that timeframe for Nebuchadnezzar's madness.

Fascinating subject because my old religion (Jehovah's Witness) hangs so much of their religion on 607bce - 1914 as "proving" their appointment as God's only true religion today. Clearly the evidence in the Dead Sea Scrolls debunks this, and so many cuneiform tablets. I've got the book, excellent.

I come from a highly religious family. My grandfather, father, and brother are Freewill Baptist preachers.
I know the bible and its origins much better than you could hope.
I became atheist after extensive study of the bible, religious history in general, and after using critical thinking skills to unbiasly challenge the beliefs taught me as a vulnerable child.
I was extremely indoctrinated with the belief in Hell as a child. It took lots of evidence before I knew without a doubt that atheism was truly the correct position. Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to say with ease and confidence:

The Bible itself says prophecy that is not fulfilled is false. What you call Yahweh's word I call men's word. Whether reading Hebrews' writings as the Hebrews did or with modern cultural inclinations, metaphorically or literally, it is cruel and brutal, immoral and unethical. The "rationalist" does *not* and will *not* "believe" any writings just because they're written down, or anything on radio/tv/internet/newspapers/whatever just because it's on whatever, evidence required. We know some people lie and everyone makes mistakes; that's why science is so careful to check and recheck everything, giving respect (not deification) to those who advance knowledge.
I'll take rationalism over whatever power hungry men claim "Yahweh says" (Simon says, Allah says, Krishna says, Kali says), especially when they quote from verifiably faulty literature.
It took Mythvision and guests like Dr Bowen (others as well) to finally get me to really read the Bible.

He is cute, just like his dad! In JW world, Daniel is belshazzar; and they still say that it was Nebuchadnezzar that went berserk, lol. So glad to find a real scholar to help explain the real story about Daniel.

Curiously the Aramaic sections of the Book of Daniel (chapter 2:4 through chapter 6:27 and also chapter 7:13-28) are where a lot of sloppy history can be found regarding the person of Nebuchadrezzar II (c. 642 - 562 BCE) and his son ‘Nabunarayid’ aka ‘Nabodinos’ (c. 599 - 539 BCE) - possibly due to sloppy transliteration (NABUCHADREZZAR / NEBUCHADNESSAR could easily become confus’d in the Aramaic transliteration process to NABUCH-DENASS(R) aka Nabodinus- the two names (Nabu Keduri Usar = ‘may Nabu (the god of writing) protect my eldest son’ and (Nabu-Nayid = ‘Praise be to Nabu’) share a lot of Akkadian phonemes in common
Either way it is clear that the author(s) of our canonical book of Daniel (having come down to us as a literary collaboration in 2 separate languages for different parts of the book) were not writing ‘positivistic history’ in the modern sense but rather were compiling moral/didactic narratives whose final editing (‘Endgestalt’) took place sometime around 154 BCE during the reign of the Syrian Greek Antiochus III ‘Ho Epiphanios’ (‘the revealer’ I.e. of divine mysteries) and it is this historical personage against which the final editor(s) had their biggest axe to grind …

Does anyone know the commentary on Daniel mentioned by Dr Bowen. I couldn’t catch it from the audio so would be grateful to know which one he is referring to.
He (Dr. Joshua Bowen) reminds me so much of a good friend with whom I used to hang out in my university days. The main differences are: He's grown up (woah!) and has studied a totally different subject in comparison to my old friend who used to study chemistry. In a sense, this is a plus! - This is a very enjoyable and pleasant conversation! I'm learning a lot from Dr. Bowen, thank you for that!

I'm currently reading his book. Well worth it.
Interesting that the Dead Sea Scrolls were rejected by Yahweh as His inspired word. Next will be denial of the RESSURECTION, and even Lord Jesus as a historical person.
Ladies and gentlemen, although Mr. Bowen is intelligent, and his research is extensive and zealous,it is not according to knowledge. He sadly is woefully incomplete in his research. Of the very learned, learned, average, and beginner, he is on the level of average. Nebuchadnezzar did conquerer Tyre. Understand that there were divisions of Tyre. Mr. Bowen falls quite short in his research. Josh read John Nelson Darby, William Kelly, F.W. Grant, etc... You tubers not all the time, but most of the time you will only get the average learners on this platform. Again Josh Tyre was positively to conquered by the king of Babylon. Go back and complete your research son.

If you haven't read Oliver Barnaby Lewis Bowen on this matter, then you must be a novice and therefore my son. He is the greatest biblical scholar of all time and debunks John Nelson Darby, William Kelly, F.W. Grant, etc.
