Ansel was also a tenor pan player with Tropical Harmony of Tanner Street Point Fortin.Music was arranged by Earl "Bostic" Rodney and pans tuned by Allam " Maestro" Gervais. He attended Tutorial High School on Wickham street, Point Fortin . His Copy Book with chords and his guitar were his book bag. Ansel was also a good center Forward playing in the minor league . They practised on lands that are nows part of The LNG Compound. Earl Rodney also played good football. In about 1965-6 we had a little combo side in Waterhole Cocorite and there was fete at Paragon's club.Joey was there and another Combo side, Half time Bede Mohammed, Joey' s Guitarist spoke to the drummer and Ansel borrowed a guitar from the combo side and Bede played chords while Ansel played lead . Tune : the Shadow Of Your Smile. People danced for over 30 minutes. In those days all who believed that the guitarist from Silver Strings was the top gun realised that Ansel Wyatt was the Boss They got the message in the present tense.You always did it your way
Steve khan used to play with Ansel Wyatt ,and lived in Agnes street Marabella. My three brothers use to play with Ansel also, and Melody maker's steel band in Vistabella Jarvis st . thanks for the reply.
I remember that band , I know Javon wells combo, and his wife Joyce he was influence by Ansel also. Do you know Eugene Joseph D ballroom dance teacher married to Ansel last sister? I'm living in the states nj.
We were a family of 14 children, we all can play an instrument. my three brothers D Bass guitar, drums and D conger ' s there all died, D Bass man drowning takes place in myaro.last year.D only one alive is Steve Khan in Canada. we grew up with another family in San Fernando D Dutchess Brothers. D 2 Thomas brothers died Reggie and lester,Ansel give me a CD of 18 songs he did not record ,I was not a member, but he used to say I am his little brother.

Ansel's band had a great impact on our formative years in the sixties , and in my mind's eye I can see your brothers ( especially the one they called Boojie ) on stage as if it was yesterday. And BTW , much as I searched the internet and queried relatives in Trini , you are the first verification of Ansel's death. May he Rest In Peace
BTW , some friends and I also formed a combo in Marabella called Silhouettes Combo , which was around even after I left T&T in 1968. Our band was obviously influenced by Ansel Wyatt's combo.
