There is no other musical artist that I am aware of who is more able to bring redemption to their voice. Suffering is not error. JJ allows the grief to be present in her awareness, and eventually transform her grief as well as the grief of those who hear her sing. She always touches my heart in my own suffering, and I remember why I am here. Thank you.
Thank you, Jai. I have been battling the bigness of these conflicting waves of emotions this week. Struggling to understand why they don’t progress but rather elbow each other for the main seat each day. Today was a day of rage and loss. I feel guilty for feeling rage for someone I love. And yet, my love for myself feels equally defensive. But isn’t it a gift that as humans we possess the capability to feel and process such thoughts!
Yes. Yes and yes and yes. You've named something we ALL struggle with. I am grateful for the expanded societal awareness of everything that contributes to good mental health (including but not limited to the VITAL importance of feeling, expressing, processing, and metabolizing ANGER as a part of any healing odyssey), which is hopefully helping to remove shame & guilt from the equation... but it can be very destabilizing to feel both love and rage toward the same person, and it's hard to heal when we can't find equilibrium. I wish you (and anyone else who reads this) a well-lit path toward repair. Sending HUGE love. ❤

This song is so aligned with the energy of my life right now. It makes me think of facing the storm head on, feeling the pain and birthing a new self! - With hurricane ian heading to florida and said to hit tampa and my sisters area my entire family has been holding their collective breaths. My sister was about to give birth in the midst of one of the worst hurricanes. She followed her intuition and decided to stay, while people around her fled and boarded up there homes. At the last minute the hurricane changed direction and the next day she said the sun was out and that night she gave birth to a beautiful little girl!
What a story! I'm grateful she & the little one were safe... and I hope you have come through (or *are coming through*, if it's ongoing...) your own storm safely, too. Much love, sweet one. ❤️

This beautiful, poignant, potent song couldn't have come at a better time. 7 months ago, my father passed away. We had a complicated yet very deeply connected relationship, as both of us are very sensitive individuals. And I forgave him for his mistakes and liabilities, because I know how good hearted and soulful he was as a person. And in so much of his own pain that he was never able to relinquish. 💙 This song eloquently and gently leans into the entire process, and all of the stages of the loss. Each one shows up at different intervals for me still, however the Grace stage has been the most recurring the more I allow for the other two. The rawness and the openness of the other two. There's been so much forgiveness and understanding through this journey of loss for me. And you don't know until you experience it; you certainly know, sharing this gift of a song. 🙏 Thank you so much! So cathartic.
