I agree on what we need, but doubt that they will get all that. My opinion, in this order.: 1. Sign Tucker long-term 2. Top closer & pen help 3. Top starter 4. Strong bat
Excited to see what they do. I feel like our pen is decent right now but you can never have too much pitching. Also want to see what they do with the starting pitching. Again (on my soapbox) trading Nico Hoerner for a starting pitcher would be ideal!
Thank you, Mike, i definitely appreciate and enjoy your podcast, thank you! I agree with your suggestion of getting Justin Turner. He can mentor Shaw or Bush at 3rd and still has a productive bat. There's a lot of youngsters on the Cubs, so Turner would bring a veteran presence to the team, and has plenty of playoff experience. I'm glad that you mentioned Turner, because my buddies laughed when I suggested that we acquire him! I'm still hopeful that we can get Roki Sasaki and a proven setup man and closer. If we can do that for the pitching staff, acquire Justin Turner and PCA and Bush can take a step forward and Shaw can hit as well as we're hoping for, the Cubs should easily win the division, and once they're in the playoffs, they could get hot and win the whole damned thing! Let's go Cubbies!!💙
I enjoy your coverage, but having watched Jed’s presser on the Marquee TH-cam channel, I didn’t need a recap of the ‘whole’ press release, maybe just a few hi lights. Just an opinion😊.
@@lttraveler2458 I would not mind Bregman one bit! I know he wants a substantial contract tho. I wonder as time wains will he accept a 1 year deal. Cuz Shaw is gonna get some playing time this year in the majors
This org has the minor leagues to deal now. If they keep their top 5 in minors....they are golden. Yet, Horton, Caissie, and Shaw should not be dealt. Triantos, Alcantara, B Brown, J Rojas, and Ballesteros should only be traded for players with years of control like a Mason Miller, George Kirby, and Logan Gilbert. 3b is either Bregman or Shaw. 2b is either Hoerner or Shaw. They need a CF and OF plus a guy that can play 1b, 2b 3b. I am saying they need Luis Arraez or Andrew Vaughn. At of/cf they need Laureano or maybe canario can play cf. Bullpen is tough for them. FA relievers cost too much. Burnes, Buehler, and the others I mentioned above are on the table. This is the time.
@@ChiCubsCentral Bregman happens if they trade Hoerner to the Mariners. Shaw is either 3b or 2b this year. 6 yrs $174m is projected on Bregman. $29m. Or about double Nico
I like the Pablo Lopez rumors but the writer that wrote it was high. Say cubs would have to give up Caissie and Triantos plus Assad or Wicks. Guy needs to lay off the crack pipe.
How's about Whit Merrifield - 1 yr 5M - not the ideal 3B replacement but can fit in if we need at 3B Nick Ahmed - MILB deal - Depth piece defense is still above average Tanner Scott - 3yrs 60M - As steady as it comes over the last 3 yrs 20M a yr save some cash for the deadline

It's on cubbies
I expect the Cubs in 1st place all year. I can’t wait to see what Jed does next!

Your comments on Happ and Swanson are spot on.
We need a legit closer to be real contenders, the absolute biggest weakness last season was the bullpen and to win in the playoffs bullpen is crucial.
Kirby Yates???

Suzuki is next
I hope they keep Suzuki. This should be his strongest season yet. He's used to everything now, and knows what to expect.
They need 2 more bats. 1 or 2 more SP a closer and a set up guy.
Logan Gilbert
Luis Arraez
