21:00 Fun Fact: Dundee is the home of Footballs closest Derby, since Scot Foam Stadium (FC Dundee) and Tannadice Park (Dundee United) are not 200 m next to each other.
The bright blue "lake" at 1:55 is a salt evaporation pool, used for extracting salt from seawater. The Aalborg power plant next to it is actually using salt as a new type of energy storage technology. Salt or brine pools are often very colorful and can vary from bright cyans into reds. You can find a lot of them south of the Dead Sea. Then, the missing lake at 8:28 in Lombok is an artificial reservoir created by the Batujai Dam, finished in 1982. Though it is not a natural lake I don't know why is is not on the vector map; even though it does show up in satellite view. The label is there though: "Waduk" is Indonesian for "Reservoir"
what i researched is: Nordens Kridtgrav As the name suggests, this chalk pit has been created over 70 years ago, when a cement factory was digging for chalk, creating a soft limestone rock at the bottom of the lake. The chalk lake has been open to the public by the Aalborg Municipality, since the 1980s. The lake is 600 meters long, 200 meters wide and 10-12 meters deep, and is filled with stunning blue-greenish water. The magnificent composition of the lake’s colour has been created due to the large amount of calcium in the water; as the light is reflected in the water, a picturesque, impressive colour is formed.
@@burn1n Oh, ok, thanks. My research showed it was a salt pond. But I'm not from there so perhaps it's different. Regardless of whether it's chalk or salt or some other industrial mineral pond/lake, the microscopic particulates can create vibrant colors.
11:35 that runway configuration is used both to save space but also for just generally quieter airports. It's much cheaper to build a runway like that. A clearance to land will also include a clearance to "backtrack" and vacate - though you'll notice both taxiways are angled so if they're going 'slow enough' they may still be able to take them. This one is at least set up both ways - something like King Island in Australia requires nearly a full backtrack to vacate if landing on Runway 28.
First game was a lot more tricky for me. First round was doable. Second round I searched through India, South Africa even Kenya, didn't really think Indonesia was an option. Ended up guessing India. Third round was again fairly easy. Fourth round took a looong while, but I somehow managed to find the correct island. Last round I started to be tired of that game taking so long and wasn't thinking straight anymore. Ended up guessing Germany. 3 perfect rounds tho, 18k total score. Second game was a lot easier, even recognized one of the airports straight away (the Orlando one, something about the geography immediately reminded me of central Florida, even tho I've never been to US). Only difficult round there was the Polish one. It did look Eastern European, but couldn't figure out where, and it was just too small to find. Guessed in Czechia, so didn't lose that many points. 4 perfect rounds and a total of just above 24k is pretty good game for me. @1:36 On the first round the football stadium sign was barely readable as Aalborg, only way I managed to get that round in reasonable time. @4:46 Technically not a river, but a strait, as there is a sea access on both ends. @8:30 My exact reaction, when there was no lake :D
Tried this one in "normal" street-level mode - they were mostly easier mostly due to signage. However, the one with the palms and lakes was hard. There were no lakes visible from street level, so it was just tropical with English language (no specific signage) which sent me to Hawaii, then Guam, then Miami, Tampa, and then off to Texas... finally just plunked in a city I hadn't looked at yet, and... right city! Crazy. If I had seen it "from ABOVE" I would have recognized it instantly. lol Thanks again for sharing these maps!
@@Donanzador Acores might not be counting to Europe due to it's location. For example Hawaii isn't officially in Northern America, even if it's part of the US. About Keflavik... blame Irish Propaganda. Even if you google it, it calls Shannon the most western international airport.

Interesting! Seems to be a very controversial fact, though. You need to ignore Azores and Iceland, and Lisbon Airport seems to be more Western than Shannon Airport
For the first round of the first game I was certain it was Dundee but I was disappointed when I realised that it didn’t quite fit but then when it was actually Dundee it made it even better to have known it and I am not even from dundee

I got the first one of the second round instantly. The sheer amount of golf courses told me that there's only one option, and that's Scotland.
Good point! 😄

9:10 says Hakodate on the airport
I totally missed that 🫣

Interesting! Thanks for the additional context!
32:10 It's Nonce 🤣🤣🤣 Instantly realises the slight mis pronunciation love it 😂😂
Pretty sure on the italy round you can read Firenze on the street and also A1.
I think "international airport" just means "airport that has border control and customs", it doesn't imply anything about size.
Yeah, I think you are right
I believe Scotish "Loch" and Irish "Lough" are pronounced the same despite their different spelling.
Interesting! I didn't know that
I should have noticed it was dundee because of the bridges but figured it out by the retail park...
Ah the joy when Peter uploads a satellite view video. Love this
I'm glad you enjoy them! 😊
Love the satellite view videos
Thanks! More to come! 😄
Do more big cities from satellite view ! Can never get enough of those.
Thanks for the suggestion! 😄

Immediately recognised Hakodate from the Star Fort along with that coastline.
Good job! It certainly looks unique!
Super fun video!! The only one I could recognise was the Hakodate one, because of Goryokaku (the star fort) haha
Good job recognizing that one! 😄

Well done! It's a while different challenge from the regular street view level 😄
Aren't the red lines hypothetical flights that make it international?
No, it was just a path script they was bugging out that I forgot I had enabled 😅
Nice! As an aviation fan I enjoyed this!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! 😊

great video as always!

On the Aalborg one I could just barely read the text on the side of the stadium and it said Aalborg!
I recognized it because it was the first airport I ever flew into, coming from Copenhagen.

let's guess airports..."ok let's look at this city" :-D
Well, of course not only airports 😂
Can't be in France, all military instalations there are pixeled on Google Satellite images.
Hmm, good point. Could have been some historical one though 🤔
Great video
