Beautifully summed up : "a little slice of Spanish paradise". Totally agree. I love Cadiz. A tip for anyone staying over - stay in the old town and experience those beautiful buildings from the inside. You're then an easy walk to the best bars and restaurants. Enjoy!
For the sake of accuracy, Cadiz was not taken by the Spanish in the 13th century. It was retaken by the Christians from the Muslim. They were all Spanish. The myth of the Islamic population of Spain being invaders is hardly that, a myth. They were by far and large converts. Other than that, what a lovely video!
0:33 wow that's so wrong. Cadiz wasn't ¨taken by the Spanish¨ after the muslims. on the contrary, Muslim heritage in Spain is way more vast than those who came after. the Visigoth, the christian kingdoms you called ¨the spanish¨ owe EVERYTHING to the Caliphate: food, architecture, technology, culture overall.. It was the muslims who translated and preserved all the previous knowledge from Greeks and Persians during Medieval times, while the Visigoths were just praising the bible. the Visigoth were no more Spanish than the Muslims or Romans.
I have to strongly disagree with everything you say. Spain is quintessentially Christian. It was so before the Muslim invasion and it came back to it when Islam was erradicated from the Peninsula. Spain as a nation cannot be understood without the key role of both Christianity and the constant fight against the Muslim. I do not believe that Spain owes the first thing to a culture that is totally alien . A few beautiful buildings an some words do not make up for some real heritage. One example of the extremely limited relevance of Islam for modern Spain is the utter obliteration of its footprint. Have you ever wondered why you cannot find any Islamic cemeteries from that period? Because they were all desecrated and the tombstones used as materials for all sort of projects. Nothing was spared, all was erased. Of course, through our modern lense, it all looks terrible, but it is exactly what happened and I do not belive it should be presented in any other way.
Do it! We spent 3 days in Madrid, then went to Italy for a week and explored the Puglia region (rent a car) then we went back to Spain, rented a car and explored Seville, Cadiz, Ronda, Granada and then Toledo. It was the best trip ever!
...our ship stopped here last September - would love to go back. Thank you for the video. Beautiful city...

مسرورم که شاهزاده هم گردهمایی چونان کاریز را مفید تشخیص دادند آنها که در اطاق های شیشه ای نشسته اند سنگ پرتاب نکنند
