Some of the songs on the Nier series soundtrack use fictional language. just like this one. AUTOMATA is really nice game, It has been seven years since the game was released, and it still receives rave reviews and its price has remained unchanged even after seven years. And the nier automata animation season 2 will be released next month.
Afaik it's a mix of french, german, english, spanish and japanese, and maybe some other languages. The point is just to use the voice as a musical instrument, no need for lyrics. It could also just reflect the state of language in the far future in which the Nier games are set: a mix of many languages.
The game is in year 11.000 + Maybe the old languages are "forgotten" and so they use it as a melody !!! It could be a think, in this way to put the music into the story I just love it 🥹
Finally more Nier! For your question regarding the language, it isn't any real language. A lot of the OST uses a language made for the game called Chaos language, which was created by the singer. This is also a background OST when you first enter the amusement park, not a cutscene OST. Your reaction at the end is pretty spot on with the atmosphere the amusement park is supposed to give.
I remember they said it was primary based on French and something sounded like French but it's not a real language, but the lyrics are more like part of the notes instead of lyrics to enhance the mood of the piece. (there are some creole words that supposed added it to make the whole thing sounded very foreign to everyone.) The singer, J'Nique Nicole, speak French .... BUT she's from good olde Tennessee.
The language in most Nier games OSTs is Chaos language a made up language invented to sound as if our modern languages had drifted away for thousands of years to finally become indistinguishable to us. Nier Automata and Nier Replicant games are in my favorite games off all time. The story and music in these games are some of the best ever seen in video games. These games have so much good music I could easily recommend at least 20 OSTs to react to. Please check out "Shadowlord" or "Grandma" OST in the future from the game "Nier Replicant".
i cant read the word "shadowlord" without Kaine's no-context opening rant popping in head lol the OST to the original really was amazing. i played it when it released, "beat it" once and sent it back to gamefly. 3 years later the soundtrack made me want to go back to it. found out i still had a lot to do in the game.
"So how many Nier OSTs do you want Luke to react to"? *YES.* by the way, Luke, yes, "Amusement Park" is a gameplay OST, but it's not a boss fight song. If you want to listen to the boss fight from the amusement park area, listen to "A Beautiful Song". But careful with spoilers!
If u ask me, Amusement Park One of the most unforgettable moments in gaming history. I don't wanna spoil it for u, but when u hear that music with that specific scene, u feal uneasy, magical, u think. I was just stunned with music and scenery front of me. And i'll never forget that scene. It's a art.
4:25 its background music. The best part of nier automata soundtrack is being dynamic. In some part of map you get calmer version, without vocal, and without full instruments,in menu it becomes muffled etc.
If you think this sounds German it's possible it is. The idea behind Chaos Language is Emi Evans bases each song on a real language but sings how she imagines each language will evolve over the next thousand years or so.
if anyone wondering what language is used in the nier universe it's angelic (mostly german but its a mix of every language on earth), it's a fictional language but a real developed language exclusive for nier:replicant and nier:automata basically this language is the last shred of memory of everyone on earth that went extinct after project gestalt
"I imagine actually fighting someone listening to this" You are absolutely right. Actually, inside the game, the music is coded, so that more and more instruments begin to pick up, as you get closer to the central piece of the amusement part - and that part you mentioned, that violin begins to pick up as you jump onto a rollercoaster, and start fighting enemies. In other words, the music inside the game is very dynamic, and it often depends on where you are within a certain stage.
yeah, it's from gameplay. iirc it starts as a subtle striped down version, but the game will add/remove layers as you go through the level until it blasts the full version in an appropriately chaotic setting.
This is my third favorite game of all time, with the best ending I've ever seen in a video game, do highly recommend it, it is an experience. Super happy there is a nier:automata anime coming out since I've said before I thought this world would be perfect for one. However, Nier more than any other game has an experience that is fundamentally tied to it being a game. The fact that you are playing a game is central to everything, and what it does elevates gaming. I recommend everyone to play the game before watching the anime because the anime will NOT be able to do the same thing, the media prevents it unfortunately.
Its a language that is part of the game that unique to the game called Chaos Language. The entire soundtrack is a masterpiece! I've been to one of the live orchestra concerts for the game before it is amazing how well done the songs are. I feel like the music is another character in the game because of how much emotion each song brings to the game. I hope you listen and react to more of the songs from the game! But yes this song is amazing and glad you reacted to it!
The language is fictional and was created specifically for this game. Referring to it as "Chaos Language" it was inspired by various languages, including English, Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, and French. They also drew inspiration from Gaelic. Funnily enough there is no mention of German inspiration, but it does sound German is some parts.
The first time hearing this is so surreal because the atmosphere clashes with what you've been walking around until now. Then, in the extended route, [something] happens and the song changes to a slower version with less instruments. That change made this song into one of my absolute favorites.
Hey Luke, just a quick correction because you kept saying that was a xylophone and I figured you may want to know what that actually was. You were close, but that's actually a glockenspiel. It's very similar to a xylophone but made out of metal and typically smaller. Also, as others have said, this is a made up language for the game and yep, this is just a regular ost for one of the areas of the game. Your idea on what this is supposed to make you feel is pretty close, honestly, so well done there!
Both games have a fantastic soundtrack that I could listen to daily. I hope you'll also react to the different Song of the Ancient OSTs from Nier Replicant and Automata.
so much melancholy in all of niers songs. the composer did an immaculate job at keeping that underlying feeling of "humanity has been annihilated and all that remains are their broken toys" present all throughout the soundtrack. this particular track is the pinnacle of that feeling IMO
That language doesn't actually exist, it's made up to sound like a language from thousands of years in the future where many languages have melded together, so it's become and made to sound like a blend of English, German, French, Japanese, Spanish, and more, which is why you kept hearing something that could sound German. They called it Chaos Language, and it's beautiful. Yoko Taro is truly one of the coolest people ever, certainly my favorite alcohol fueled genius. Unless Hideo Kojima and Yoshi-P are also alcoholic, in which case I'd have three favorites. Also the background is, if I remember right, the inside of a run-down mall. Man I wanna nerd out so hard and say so much, but that'd be titanic spoilers, and I don't wanna spoil you in case you ever play it, chaos language is the only spoiler I'm willing to give ;) Anyway, listen to A Beautiful Song. It's name is very accurate. Also fun fact, iirc, Yoko Taro was upset the OST was so amazing because it felt like it overshadowed the game itself and seemed to get more praise than anything else. Suffering from success lol
Gotta say amusement park is by far my favorite soundtrack in Nier:Automata. I still remember, that when I played that game I sometimes just went there just to listen to its OST, even if I didn't need to go there :D Always get chills from the violin part. Oh and yes, you were right.
Background music from location that breaks the rules u getting used to, for the first time in this game, at this point for me personally, this game begin to be more than just awesome bullethell slasher :D
That's insane really shows how good the OST is .. I'd say you pretty much spot on described the atmosphere in the area (yes, Amusement Park, but post apocalyptic) at the end of the video. You also kind of guessed the type of "exploration" with the DMC comparison. There are more linear paths, but it's nowhere near as strict as DMC or Ninja Gaiden etc. A lot of areas are more open which makes it feel more open world than it actually is sometimes. But it's also nowhere near as open as say Elden Ring or Zelda BotW etc. Best thing about the game is how beatifully designed it is - in every aspect. Music, gameplay, visuals, dialogue, plot, even the way the story is told, all fits so well together. Played it on release, completely new to the IP, and still consider it as a masterpiece. Maybe it'll make it on stream sometimes, at least there's a chance to finish it before the decade is over since it should take somewhere around 30 hours unlike Genshin and Elden Ring (which I STILL haven't finished either even though I love the game too lol)
This game and its soundtrack is such an emotional and amazing experience. Highly recommend playing it. If you not gonna play at least you can watch Amusement Park part in here, starting at 11:11 th-cam.com/video/q5e1Kwo8dgI/w-d-xo.html
Since your'e doing Nier it would be awesome if you could do Nier Replicant, "The Dark Collosus" and "Shadowlord" "Ashes of Dreams" Snow in Summer" and Drakengard 3 "the final song" those will definitely give you great vibes
As far as I know, the language takes individual sounds from English, German and Russian, and uses them as the base for a language that sounds like gibberish to us, because it is supposed to be the result of modern day languages evolving and merging through many centuries.
Nostalgia, I did finish the game about 3 months ago it was amazing, currently on the first game nier replicant the one before automata set 1.000 years in the past it's good same for the music. And no this isn't a cutscenes it's exploring the theme park with that on in background
Yes, it is the backround music to the amusment park section. Nier Automata has both open World elements but also lined up parts like in Devil may cry. The Battle system plays a lot like Devil may cry with a few rpg elements on top. The game has an incredible story and super interesting character interactions.
Love this theme! Before entering the park the whole game is super dreary and pale when it comes to the environment/story. This is the first moment where I was like woah this changes things! It’s got a nice and creepy/unknown feel to it while still holding a sense of wonder lol
"How is this a game?" That's pretty much how the director feels! He said the quality of the soundtrack Keiichi Okabe produced, gave him a massive inferiority complex. He started to think the only reason NieR:Automata was winning so much praise and acclaim was because of the music!
Mi OST favorito, arte puro lo que hicieron uniendo fonéticas de diferentes idiomas para crear su propio lenguaje del caos y aún transmite las emociones correctas en el momento
i lately started listening to Nier Soudtracks as background music to work to. So nice to have it just playing. If i can soujest something that has the same "How is this a Video Game OST" feeling, listen to Terraria Calamity Mod Music - "Roar of The Jungle Dragon". It is literly just a soundtrack for a MOD from the game Terraria, but for some reason it is one of the best boss theme in a video game i have heard. For a MOD!
hey, here's a recommendation for another series of games that has (in my opinion at least) very good osts, altough i don't see a lot of people talking about them: the Lobotomy Corporation series (Lobotomy Corp-first game, Library of Ruina-2nd game, Limbus Company-3rd game) i would recommend listening to the 3 Warnings from Lobotomy Corp first (1st,2nd,3rd warning) in the same video so they would have a greater impact Keep in mind that Lob Co. is a monster management game, so to explain the warnings without spoilers, they basically mean that stuff is GOING DOWN and you need remediate the problems.
Here are my recommendations for your next OST appreaciation! Game OSTs/OP/ED: 1. Nanoha A's Portable The Battle of Aces OP (th-cam.com/video/6YS8iG98smI/w-d-xo.html ) 2. Final Fantasy XIII theme song "Kimi ga Iru Kara" (th-cam.com/video/5OQ0iulaG9M/w-d-xo.html ) Anime OSTs: 1. composed by Yoko Kanno: Macross Frontier insert song: "Yousei" sung by May'n. awesome!! some new music recommendation - Ajin op & ed songs(if you haven't already). I've loved each and every one of your videos, new subscriber here😊
After humanity collapsed and rebuilt itself again from the ground up. It’s 10,000 years after Nier. Nier being set 1000 years after the fall of humanity civilisations and a complete reset in technology
Nier language is a fictional evolution and merge of like 5 languages, japanese, german, italian and 2 others evolved after about 10,000 thousand years, might have added an extra 0 by mistake
The whole Nier OST is a very complex work. You listened to some kind of song compilation, so it can sometimes look weird. The soundtrack in this game is very dynamic, almost every song has 3 states: calm, medium, and high intensity - it depends on the player's action and the music inside the game can be immediately transitioned accordingly to the player's action at any moment. On top of that, the vocal can be totally removed or added as an additional layer. Also, the 8-bit version exists, when the player performs the hacking process, it smoothly continues from the part in the music, when the transition began. So, you listened to a compilation of almost all music states, it doesn't play inside the game fully in that version.
Check out the soundtrack for Xenoblade Chronicles X by Hiroyuki Sawano. I’d recommend the tracks “Black Tar” and “Uncontrollable” as good starting tracks to react to.
Btw, you should totally react do NieR Automata's Anime Adaptation in the future. Its a little different from the game story, but the end of the Season 1 basically ends were Ending A and Ending B ends. I do prefer the game experience, but the anime is not a bad experience at all, and the anime will have its Season 2 this year! Would love to see your reaction to it, man
Saw it a few times in here but throwing an additional recommendation to listen to "A Beautiful Song", I also quite like "Song of the Ancients (Atonement)".
I've been recommending Nier songs for ages, I actually was the one that recommended this exact OST on twitch 💜 I really hope we get more reactions in the future
Listening to the raw OST doesn't hit even a fourth as hard as when you actually play the game and go to the amusement park. There are reasons for this, as the story drives your emotions to a place of immense confusion and this song plays on those emotions flawlessly.
Game is a superior form of media than movie, comic or books. So if anything, music should be generally better in game than other media, not the other way around
There is a different arrangement of this song in an album that has a bunch of unused tracks that were discarded for the full game. That version of the track is arranged by Arai Tasuku and sung by momocashew (vocalist of Mili, you should check out that band) and has a way more sinister tone and I think it's heavily underrated. You should give it a listen, even if you don't react to it. I really recommend it.
Why you hear this song with quiet, loud, epic version because this aong plays in dynamic way without breaking the beat and flow, one place in amusement park in the game would play the soft quiet version, then on other places it'll be the epic version especially on combat
I would love for you to react to the character themes from Guilty Gear Strive 🤟. A new character was released recently, and you could start with that one. Based on your tastes, I'm sure you'll love it and want to keep listening to more and more. I'll leave this here in case you decide to react: Latest character: Slayer Theme: Ups and Downs Recommended channel: CloudDrop

nier automata use 5 lenguajes or more in ost all game
Some of the songs on the Nier series soundtrack use fictional language. just like this one.
AUTOMATA is really nice game, It has been seven years since the game was released, and it still receives rave reviews and its price has remained unchanged even after seven years. And the nier automata animation season 2 will be released next month.
React to Drakengard 3 Final Song, Silence is Mine, Five Song, and Two Song.

That's pretty much how the director feels! He said the quality of the soundtrack Keiichi Okabe produced, gave him a massive inferiority complex. He started to think the only reason NieR:Automata was winning so much praise and acclaim was because of the music!
You should absolutely play the game.
This game changed my life
Mi OST favorito, arte puro lo que hicieron uniendo fonéticas de diferentes idiomas para crear su propio lenguaje del caos y aún transmite las emociones correctas en el momento
i lately started listening to Nier Soudtracks as background music to work to.
For a MOD!
This has and always be my favorite OST of all time. Even if it has been years since I've played the game.
Finally ❤
I love the Nier music.
The structure of the ost is split into 3 parts. Every location has a soundtrack and depending on the area or combat, it gets more intense.
Please react to "A beautiful Song" or "Song of the Ancients" from NierAutomata
hey, here's a recommendation for another series of games that has (in my opinion at least) very good osts, altough i don't see a lot of people talking about them: the Lobotomy Corporation series (Lobotomy Corp-first game, Library of Ruina-2nd game, Limbus Company-3rd game)
i would recommend listening to the 3 Warnings from Lobotomy Corp first (1st,2nd,3rd warning) in the same video so they would have a greater impact
Keep in mind that Lob Co. is a monster management game, so to explain the warnings without spoilers, they basically mean that stuff is GOING DOWN and you need remediate the problems.
Please listen to the Black Butler Openings NANA Endings and Paradise Kiss Opening and Ending
Here are my recommendations for your next OST appreaciation!

3. Garei Zero OST: Reincarnation (th-cam.com/video/RGmUceIgG14/w-d-xo.html )
It's a language that Bae sing on one of her song, a chaos language, full of gibberish that sounds beautifully.
the language is a made up language just for the songs and is a combination of multiple languages
awesome!! some new music recommendation - Ajin op & ed songs(if you haven't already). I've loved each and every one of your videos, new subscriber here😊
Nier Automata is a story set in Tokyo over 10,000 years in the future.
After humanity collapsed and rebuilt itself again from the ground up. It’s 10,000 years after Nier.
Nier being set 1000 years after the fall of humanity civilisations and a complete reset in technology
Greatest OST, greatest story, greatest writing, greatest game of all time.
edit: Nier: Automata is not just a game, it's a life experience.
u have to play nier luke, it's a beautiful mind breaking game!
Most songs in this game have 3 versions, calm, normal and intense depending on context. This goes through all tree stages
I think you should play the Nier games! As good as the music is, actually having the story and context makes it all the better!
Would love to see your reaction to it, man
need some Nikke osts
Tungsten by the man Hiroyuki Sawano
Satellites by Ama Lee
The Red Hood red ash theme
We Rise main theme
Booms Day etc etc
Saw it a few times in here but throwing an additional recommendation to listen to "A Beautiful Song", I also quite like "Song of the Ancients (Atonement)".
Nier music is the best of video game music !❤
we need more nier and drakengard 3 ost reactions as well
I've been recommending Nier songs for ages, I actually was the one that recommended this exact OST on twitch 💜
I really hope we get more reactions in the future
@@ShadowNeo_2 glad u are with me there, hope so as well
You should play it. This game was one of the best I've played in my life.
みんな同じ道を通ってくれて嬉しいです
Listening to the raw OST doesn't hit even a fourth as hard as when you actually play the game and go to the amusement park. There are reasons for this, as the story drives your emotions to a place of immense confusion and this song plays on those emotions flawlessly.
More Nier Ost!!!😊🤗
Just stumbled upon it, go listen to the version arranged by arai tasuku, it feels *very* different PLUS it's the singer from Mili 👀
I prefer to play next to a fan or my AC. Some people prefer to play near a tomato. To each their own.
Havent play it, but im guessing the amusement park is abandoned like the scene from detroit become human, thus explained the creepiness
It finally happend
Game is a superior form of media than movie, comic or books. So if anything, music should be generally better in game than other media, not the other way around
Do some PGR OST reaction too! Narwhal is waiting for you!
More NieeeeeeeeeeR ❤❤
Why you hear this song with quiet, loud, epic version because this aong plays in dynamic way without breaking the beat and flow, one place in amusement park in the game would play the soft quiet version, then on other places it'll be the epic version especially on combat
ooo nier aaaaaaaaaaaaaa
I would love for you to react to the character themes from Guilty Gear Strive 🤟. A new character was released recently, and you could start with that one. Based on your tastes, I'm sure you'll love it and want to keep listening to more and more.
I'll leave this here in case you decide to react:
Latest character: Slayer
Theme: Ups and Downs
Recommended channel: CloudDrop
