    When you said "Thank you very much for watching" I replied out loud "No, thank YOU". I was confused in class yesterday but all of your RC videos are a treasure.

    Thank you sir,
    I have one question, in last question u did, mention the capacitor fully discharged (5. 26.8s)=134s..,
    Can this formula (5RC =5. 26.8) will applicable to charge fully ...?

    • @stepbystepscience
      @stepbystepscience  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the capacitor is considered to be fully charged after 5 time constants.

    Hi sir ,
    here you used two formulas v(t)=Vb(1-e^-t/RC) vs v(t)=Vb(e^-t/RC) i confused over here in previous one you used this formula v(t)=Vb(1-e^-t/RC) for calculation but here it is different , can you help me here
    And also i have doubt over how to select the capacitor input value for to store high voltage
    am doing voltage doubler circuit but without this knowledge i cont able to continue my self
    Please help me here

    How do you calculate the Capacitance and Resistance given only potential difference(voltage) over time?

  • @salom77
    @salom77 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    what do you mean by the cap is fully discharged after 5 time constants? is this a standard rule with all caps regardless of the value of capacitance? Thanks in advance :)

    • @stepbystepscience
      @stepbystepscience  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, that is the standard rule for all capacitors. The actual time will be different because the capacitance and the value of the resistor in series with the capacitor can be different. Time constant = R x C.

    I have a problem I can not solve: I have a power supply of DC=12V, a resistance of 12Ohm and a lamp (bulb): 6V; 0.5A. What capacitor do I need to light the bulb 2 seconds? Thank you!

    what is the value for R if you have a bunch of resistors in your circuit? Just parallel resistors or Req?

    • @stepbystepscience
      @stepbystepscience  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Then you have to calculate the equivalent resistance.

    please consider adding an annotation explaining that e is a predetermined number, , excellent video, thanks

    • @stepbystepscience
      @stepbystepscience  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      e is a constant, ruler's number, 2.718, I think I said that in all of the videos, if not, my mistake. Thanks for you positive comments.

    • @draculaoppa834
      @draculaoppa834 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      To understand e, we first need to understand "GROWTH!" Assume you have 1 dollar and you will get 100% growth a year from a bank as annual growth. Okay, then. After a year, you will have 2 dollars, right? Assume the bank pay you 2 times a year now. You will get your money after 6 months. But they will divide 100% profit into 50% each. But this is slightly better for you. After 6 months, 1x50%=1x0.5=0.5 cents, and you have 1.5 cents in total after 6 months. And after a year, you will have 1.5x50%=1.5x0.5=0.75 cents, and you have 2.25 cents. Slightly better right? (1+100%/2)^2, you have half the growth rate over 2 times period which is called semi-annual growth. What if you gonna have 4 different times in a year? You will have (1+100%/4)^4, and so you will get 2.441$ at the end of the year. That's called quartly growth. So the formula is (1+1/n)^n. I know what your thinking! Is it possible to get unlimited money? Chill, bro. Now, you put n=1, you will get 2$ for annual growth right? If n=2, you will get 1.5$. Now, assume you are getting every day. n=365, you will get 2.7146. Let's make it every minutes, every seconds, how so ever, n=1000000 (1 millions times), you get 2.7182804. Now, I hope you understand about what is e? It is the maximum possible result after continuously compounding of 100% growth over 1 time period. Thus e = 2.718.

      that is eulers number (e which equals 2.718) raised to the power of minus 1 and that equals 0.368.
