Henry! 🤣🤣😂 No doubt the production manager thought just a continuous close up of Dimash's face might be a bit boring! And don't forget; with Dimash having micro-oversight of every element of his work before it's released - Henry might BE Dimash!! 🙃😂🙃🤣 Actually, some of 'Henry's' wide shots are useful. Not only can we observe how Dimash centres and grounds himself for those belting high notes, but also the way he opens his arms and moves his shoulders back as he engages his diaphragm. { for Voice Nerds this is interesting ). His skilled movement around the microphone is yet another form of Master Class, as he plays with letting it enhance his crescendo's and diminuendo's. So great.

The manner in which he sings this is phenomenal; this is one of the things people are referring to when they talk about his control. His management of his sound is superior. I love his transition from the high "ahhs" in the middle to that full chest lower register again. Seamless. We love this song; my daughter won't go to bed until I play her "Dimash relaxing playlist" at night and "Ikanaide" is on it. Thanks for sharing!

In 2020 Dimash also participated in the famous annual Tokyo Online Festival with 2 songs:

The sad true story of this song... very touching: It is about Yoshiko Yamaguchi (*1920-2014), a Chinese-born Japanese actress during World War II. She hid her Japanese heritage under the name Li XIanglan and became famous in China. However, when the war was over and she revealed her identity, she was accused of being a spy. She was deported to Japan and longed for China. Ms. Yamaguchi did not return to China until many years as deputy environment minister in the Japanese parliament. The song is a metaphor as the lyrics speak of how a person should hide what they are feeling.
The original Japanese version Ikanaide/ Please Don’t Go (composed 1989) is by Koji Tamaki, *1958, Japanese songwriter.
Koji Tamaki sent a wonderful message to Dimash, thanking him, and praising him for singing his song in Japanese.

Dimash's Japan Fan Club asked the famous Japanese author of 'Ikanaide' Goro Matsui about his emotions at Dimash performance. It's one of his favorite songs:
"… I heard Dimash singing "Ikanaide" by accident. The first thing that impressed me was his crystal clear tone and expressive voice. I heard other Asian artists perform the song many times, but despite their magnificent vocal skills, none seemed to capture the true meaning of the original lyrics. In the chorus of the song, the line "Ah, Ikanaide" is repeated several times. And although these are the same words, each line has a different meaning. And it seems to me that Dimash felt it. "

The Chinese (Autuumn Strong) and Japanese (Ikanaide/ Please, Don’t Go) versions have completely different lyrics and meanings… and of course Dimash sings both very differently. Both are based on a same true story.
The Chinese version shows the image of leaves dancing in the autumn wind as a metaphor for how fate affected Yoshiko Yamaguchi's life. ...sad but inevitable and irrevocably
The Japanese version does not want to accept the loss, is full of pain, pleads, suffers ... heartbreaking.
I'm totally mesmerized by how sensitively Dimash differentiates and conveys to the listener the feelings of sadness and loneliness in the Chinese version and loss and pain in the Japanese version. Even his whispers and his breath are music... it breaks my heart and the tears flow... and at the end everyone suddenly holds their breath, we hear Dimash breathing, then a deep and comforting hum.
I've never heard anything like it from a singer in my entire life. Only Dimash can do that. This is true mastery.

Слышал много версий. Исполнения самого Коджи Тамаки. Димаш исполнял на китайском на слова китайского поэта ,,поздняя осень,. Песня интересна с историей Ошико Ямогучи ,Ли Синь Лан. Димаш с душой показывает все эмоции. Не понимая языка, понимаешь суть переживаний. Такой талант, гений. У Димаша нет простых без историей, смыслом, песни. This was especially for the Tokyo Jazz Festival. That year they were honoring Koji Tamaki the composer of this song. Other performers had sung this song for him but not in Japanese. Dimash was the only one to sing it in Japanese. Tamaki thought that it was special. Dimash usually sings it in Chinese. Remember Dimash only speaks Kazakh and Russian and he’s been doing pretty good in English these days. When he does a concert in another country, he tries hard to sing a song in their language. He can sing in many languages but that’s only phonetically. Dimash is a special young man! Many people try to put him in a box but as soon as you close the lid, Dimash comes busting out of the box. He loves music, all kinds of music and he’s still trying to learn as many genres that he can. 😊
