PROEX FOOD Potato Processing Line; Fresh-Cut & Vacuum-Packed

  • Yes, potatoes, beets and other root crops are commodities that we serve with our innovative, turnkey processing lines.
    This particular example is for peeled whole, quartered and/and diced potatoes. End potato product is then vacuum packed, downstream. Our customer had primarily been producing manually. However, like many processors, labor shortages and capacity constraints were holding them back. Enter PROEX FOOD!
    We worked with this customer to design, build and install a complete line. This line utilizes both a roller and knife peeler, so that the end product retains the hand-cut look their customers and end consumers were accustomed to. This line also utilizes an optical sorter to sort by three different criteria. The sorter is far more accurate than the human eye, and improves product recovery. After this, the roller conveyor carries product to the next step.
    Gates and controls separate out product to the appropriate output style: whole-packed, quartered or diced. This particular install has sensors throughout the process than monitor each processing station and automatically meter and adjust to streamline the operation. All controls are centralized, requiring far fewer operators to monitor.
    At the end stage of this video, product is primarily packaged in bulk bags in a semi-automated fashion. We're already discussing the next phase for this processor, with the next steps to further automate the operation, through vacuum pack, case packing and palletizing.

      Sorry, that is propriety knowledge for this line. We can say that some lines use fresh water, some will use a shelf-life enhancer, some use a bacterial kill-step. That is always specific to each customer need and requirement, and we establish that need during project discovery. Many times, it is buyer dependent.
