Grant’s understanding of and appreciation for how remarkable Giannis is does not surprise me. If you’ve seen this dude, live, especially courtside, you know exactly what he’s talking about. Grant knows ball. 🏀
Monk and Sabonis are so good together and the attention they command in that pick and roll opens up shots for keegan and Keon. It's the engine that's been driving these wins.
Remember when Mike Brown told us that you don’t lose a game in the first quarter? He said it when discussing why Malik should not start, should be Sacramento Kings bench guy. Said it is most important who closes a game. I never got that because four others started and closed. The first quarter was the quarter where the starting five lost this game. How you start a game IS very important. It sets the tone for your own players and for what the opponents can do with the tone and rhythm allowed. Momentum and ball energy begets momentum and ball energy. Fox has done slow starts to games since I started watching the Kings. And I have always felt he isn’t "running the points" as the a Kings announcer says every home game he plays. I don’t see him as a point guard. But there are those who thinks Fox is Him, I just watch him play and see what Ryan sees. Monk sees the floor well, and he sets up other teammates to let them shine. He trusts the other players. Watch him run the team. Not one other player passes like Malik to get other teammates shots. He sees who is open, Malik doesn’t get this reciprocated. He can be open and often the ball never is passed to him. Even Fox doesn’t pass to him when he is open. Often other players drive or dribble into the paint, get jammed up and only pass out to another teammate because they are in trouble, stymied, jammed up. Malik drives into the paint oftentimes with intention to pass out to who he knows is open. It is in his plan, on-the-spot plan because of his mentality as a team player, and sees the play he is going to deliver ahead of starting his drive, You don’t see this from Fox or DeMar. This is what Malik's gift is to the team. But many people are stuck on Fox being The Number One Guy.
Did you watch the game? The starters didnt lose the 1st quarter..in fact Milwaukee called time out when up by 2 as even with good shooting by Milawukee they were not pulling away..now after the time out with half the quarter left was when the flood gates openned. Thats because Huerter Carter and Lyles didnt produce.
As stated in an earlier post, I do like the way Monk manages the offense better than Fox does. The vibe of the team just seems to be more positive with monk on the floor. Monk seems to be of a higher basketball IQ than Fox, and a much better and smarter distributor of the ball to his teammates helping to create more opportunity for his teammates. The team also seems to be more energized, free flowing, and confident when Monk is running the offense. Also, the Kings are too small and non-physical, which was exposed by the Bucks tonight.
@@urslow8819Theres a reason Monk commands 18mln and Fox $40mln. Also, Monk just started to play well in the Philly game...his shooting was horrendous most of the seaaon..Hate all you want but Fox is a top 20 player and Monk a very good supporting player. Kings will be a better team with Monk on the bench leading the 2nd team. Its the bench that faltered tonight and led to the 21 point deficit in q1. You think Huerter and Carter shooting 3 for 13 wasnt the reason for the Kings falling behind so much? Fox had the best plus minus net rating of any King throughout the game.
@24:41 fox is starting to be in his prime because point guards mature later in the NBA. He is getting smarter and more multi dimensional. He is going to become a better passer and shooter. He is in a bit of a slump but over all his speed and quickness is going to turn into skills. The problem is the kings have 3 players that are similar and another player that can play the same role so it does seem like a trade could help but for who and for what team?
At this point, Fox is no longer a key component of the team. And how to treat him is purely business decision. He (especially his agent) will want maximum money, and they are known for bullying/pushing team. Fox is not a max guy. Save and use the future money to complete the team, get maximum value (talentwise) in trading him soon. And remember, when fox is 30, he is not likely to be as fast as he is now, and will kill the team by chucking more 3s!!!
Ryan and Grant I missed the live show sorry, but is this a true picture of the difference between Monk and Fox? Or just so happens no Monk and Fox came back? It’s interesting we play a whole different brand of ball without Fox… 🤔
Anytime a guard has more 3pt attempts than assists its not a good sign lol. FOX should start game running team and get the team going through passing. Get the team players involved then work his scoring in after that unless hes getting wide open shots from the start.
I’ve said it for a couple years now, I believe Fox is great but he’s not a number 1. He’s not an all star. Hes a fantastic number 2 maybe 3rd best on a great team. If we can move on from Fox and get a leader, a true pg who facilitates or a great big I say pull the trigger.
The thing about a team sport like basketball is utilizing what you have. Efficiency and adjustment are critical. Stale, stagnant, confused, lack of getting your teammates involved enough to adequately use their strengths, is what describes this game. That is what leadership on the court is about. It's not upping your personal stats, for these are pointless with a losing team. The problem is that the kings don't have a legacy of winning. It's one of losing. It's a monkey on your back. Get it off and adjust. Play smarter not harder!
Last season, every chance I could I mentioned how Fox should not be taking so many 3s because frankly he isnt a good 3 point shooter. He shot 40%+ in November and December and suddenly thought he was Curry...and started averaging over 30 points thinking that was the path to an all nba selection. I kept saying SGA became an MVP contender when he reduced his 3 pt attempts from 5 to 2.5 and shot over 50% FG. This is what Fox should have become but believe the organization kept encouraging 3s and that is the modern NBA. Anyway, this year they ADDED Derozan who most already said was not a good fit AND in desperation put Monk in the lineup. Now Fox has the worse net rating and being blamed for not fitting in the team and not gertting enough assists..etc...just like MB I feel he is getting too much of the blame here. Fox is not a PG but is their most consistent scorer who kept the Kings in most of the games when Monk Murray Huerter Lyles and even Demar were not playing well. Fox gave you 26 a game on near 50% shooting AND didnt miss any games until recently. And btw to insure the win against Memphis he had to go in strong when he knew he was gping to get hit hard. Yes the Kings won 3 without him but GS played on a back to back and without Kuminga. Against Miami the Kings pulled out an absolute Miracle but Monk was like 1 for 9 in 3s. They should have lost that game and were down 19 without Fox. So you really have a very small sample size of saying the Kings are better without Fox. Fox has had to adjust the most playing with Monk and Demar. Fox net raring the last two years has been one of the best in the team. So now people think thet are better without Fox....Teams without their best players are lucky to win a few games. Thats the reality. Today despite the slow start, Fox net rating at the 8th minute mark in the 4th was +4 when they were down 11. The bench net rating was awful at close to -20 at the time they were down 11. So blame Fox for not completing the comeback but for 3 and half quarters he had the best rating of the team and kept them in the game.....What needs to happen is for Monk to be in the bench so there is a consistent bench. The starting lineup should be Fox Sabonis Murray Demar and Ellis with Monk leading the 2nd team. Yes he is their best creator but as weve seen this year if his 3 isnt falling that negates his effectriveness. Monk with Lyles and Huerter and Carter is a solid bench as Monk can create for those guys while Demar Fox and Sabonis can create for themselves and Keegan and Ellis.
I noticed Giannis change from his rookie year, from really skinny to the Incredible Hulk, why does no one suspect PED's aren't a thing in basketball? It only happens in baseball allegedly..
Disappointed in this loss. The mojo is gone. Stale offense and way to few shots not enough assists and a real missed opportunity to go undefeated on this road trip. Fox is probably not 100% not enough playing by a lot of players, meaning just not enough activity. Too much reliance upon the three and just scary because is this the new look kings now? I hope there is a euro league coach in the locker room that chews out someone.
I never said fox is a bad player. But I did say he's a TRASH POINT GUARD TRASH LEADER TRASH FRANCHISE PLAYER. Fox is given the WRONG ROLE. Or fox just doesn't and will never have the awareness to accept he should just play the DERRICK WHITE ROLE. -An Olympic gold medalist - a nba champion - the ULITIMATE ROLE PLAYER. On the kings, he's a #1 option. On any other playoff team, fox is a #3 option... maybe a #2 option. But in actuality, fox should be a #4 option. SHOOT LESS. FOCUS ON DEFENSE. Focus on play making and being a CONNECTOR. Be an ultimate ROLE PLAYER... like DERRICK WHITE. BUT again. Fox will never have to the court awareness and BASKETBALL INTELLIGENCE to accept being the #4 option, like a DERRICK WHITE.
Man, l'm just not a fan of Fox's game. l've been saying it for years. I will support him for as long as he wears Sacramento on his jersey but he's just not my type of PG. Fills up the stat sheet as a talented scorer, but doesn't make his teammates better, subpar playmaker and passer for a PG. gifted athletically but when we're talking IQ he's never been that guy. I see Malik run that 2 man game with Domas and then I see Fox, who just can't do the same.

Psssst, you dont want to trigger the Aaron Fox Superfans by telling the truth, just talk about how great Foxes Box score numbers are.

There's no way we get the value for Keon that he brings. I am VERY hesitant to trade him, even for a good deal.

Also Keegan has peaked. He should not be untouchable
Maybe JMac getting minutes could help the "pushing the pace" issue if Monk is still out.
They pros grant they all travel first class

Grant only shows up when they lose
So he didn't show up during the 7 game win streak? Just stop it already.

No matter how i say this its going to sound bad so here we go. The show the context is awesome but "rhinos" voice is the worst almost unlistenable
