So good to see Johny Massey on James English's Anything goes, i spent time in Parkhurst with John and what an absolute gentleman, a really nice man..but upset him and you'd see a totaly different John , with John you get what you see, he didn't suffer fool easily and wouldn't tolerate them. We we're both on the Coopers Troopers party, some comical people on Coopers troopers that, John was witty with a dry sense of humour and had me crying tears of laughter on many occasions, a very funny man when he chose to be, the man that i saw today on Anything goes saddened me , to hear of his health issues and all that has happened to the man since the 80s, John was an ultra fit man though still looking well today. I wish you all the very best John , much respect now as then mate, stay safe and take care. Kevin .

You can certainly tell, the early life experiences have affected John. Plus you can tell the stuff he has done, has affected him and deep down he regrets what he's done. I hope he finds piece in the rest of his life. Another great interview James. 👏

I'm a close friend of Charlton Higgins, the son who's father was murdered by John Massey, maybe James English should interview him as I think his viewers and especially those commenting about what a great guy John Massey is may find his side of his life very interesting, growing up knowing that your father was murdered and that his killer has never shown any remorse and is now a free man who is moaning he can't claim his pension.

To be fair to James he interviews the good the bad and the ugly.. He never glorifies these people but he lets us hear a fascinating story. When interviewing a guy that has served decades in prison there is going to be people in his past that got hurt and families that are still hurting now. But James has this platform for us to hear these stories, they are fascinating to listen to and I often think of the victims behind some of these characters.
Having said that, I do understand exactly what you are saying and I'm sure James would have no issue interviewing your mate.

I have utmost respect for John, he certainly is no psychopath, I was a kid that went through the detention centres, borstals and the prison system, theirs more psychopaths locking us up, and running the country than actually behind the cell door. I had the pleasure of spending 18 months in Spain with John, he is a true gentleman. A very intelligent man that has had lifes worst troubles thrown at him since such a young age but John never gives up i know this personally. The 1st time i spkoke with John about some of his issues that he was facing at that time, to me it became pretty clear that Johns was not going to allow that to control him and he was fighting the system at that time. I think John would agree that the Spanish system was more in favour of him being successful than the Uk were. Great man.

Whoever did the diagnosis in that experiment is incompetent, it's clear to see John isn't a psychopath. Sociopaths are often misdiagnosed, there's a massive difference. It's really important that folk know that. There is a good deal of literature on the subject. Being a sociopath in and out of institutions for years I know the traits. John would be someone I'd trust in a minute because what you see is what you get. I've met guys like him both in and out of prison my whole life, there aren't many of them left, but thankfully there's still a few around to share their stories. Great stuff James.

Good to see and hear John,
I was on the other side of the fence. We got off on the wrong footing.
I was a PEI at Long Lartin and was at the door getting a class in, anyone who knows what it was like at the door taking names, will know it was manic! Prisoners impatiently waiting as you ticked off the names, John came to the door in a queue unbeknownst to me at the time John had his Badminton Racquet with him.
Had I noticed I’d have told him that we had a footy comp on in the Sport’s Hall s there was no Racquet sports.
John had raced down to make sure he got his court! You can only imagine how he felt when he got into the sportsHall.
As the queue shortened John was on his way back to the wing, but not before throwing a round of fucks into me!
I tried to explain it was a genuine mistake and I wasn’t taking the Pisa out of him.
It ended with me telling him he’d got a 2 week ban.
John just stopped short of lumping me one.
He went back to the wing, I can only think after getting back to the wing and telling people about the cunt at the door, they must have told him I wasn’t like that.
Fair play to John he came to the door the next day and apologized, takes a big man to do that, I quashed his Gym ban and we then got along.
Sometime later I was on detached duty at Parkhurst and when I went I asked about John, he’d gone there on a so called progressive move, Parkhurst was going through a tough time and it turned out they’d placed John in the Seg saying there wasn’t a cell on the wing.
I made time to go and see him at his door. I told him I will do my best to see if I can get him up on the wing, fortunately I managed to sort that for him.
Sorry to see you’ve had health issues John but I’m really pleased to see you’re out now and living your life.
    Take care
    Phil (Retired PEI Long Lartin)
