many thanks for the intel. i went to cdo last year and i had no issues there , provided i stayed my behind from the south. el salvador city is safe as well. just gotta keep your head on a swivel if you're gonna go off the beaten path
Mindanao is a beautiful place. Never had a problem. The only thing I recommend is to be very wary and vigilant (better yet...avoid it) if you find yourself in the Marawi City area.
I rode my motorcycle from one end of Mindanao to the other end everywhere almost look the same. I went from the Dipolog all the way to Davao city there were a few red flag areas I got stranded in Cagayan de Oro but they help me to get to sogo hotel put my motorcycle in the jeepney. And they kidnapped Americans there but my skin is brown and also I put my knit cap on it made me look like a Muslim 😂 my godmother made that hat for me years ago it might have saved me I don't know. But they were real cool they didn't rob me or anything they had long hair look kind of wild and they were cool.
My first trip in 2009 I traveled to mindanao. I was adamant on traveling to zamboanga. My girlfriends family pleaded and convinced me not to go. Cagayan de Oro was as far south east as I went. Lol
@@TheBlackFilipino Jay, when is a good time for a consultation with you? for me it would be sometime Saturday here in Alaska which is Sunday there. How does it work? Do I request a certain time, or does it automatically connect me with you?

Stay either on luzon or visayas. First time expats, live next to other expats till u figure it out. Stay in Makati, Cebu, Angeles City, places that our known for tourism.
Can anyone offer advice on Magsaysay, Lanao Del Norte, my Filipinas parents live here they said I could visit them but I can’t stay there and I should go straight back to my motel afterwards
I am so happy to hear that your traveller on Philippines that’s really really nice of her when I come to Philippines I’m going to travel around those islands stay safe and God bless always
Ive never heard of a foreigner experienced targeted by riding in tandem, they only target drug pusher and drug addicts, so if you are not into drugs you are very safe
Thats that South Jamaica in you Jay. I had a Filipino Supervisor from Tondo take a hit out on me but couldnt find me cause I was told by a coworker and I stayed incognito my whole time when I was there.
That's a hell of an experience. It would be really interesting to do a youtube Vlog on that experience on this or another channel. I know I'd be interested in seeing it. How, as an American (I'm assuming you're American), did you find yourself in that situation? I know a story of another American expat whose life was threatened. He had mouthed off to an off-duty police official. The official told him that, but for the expat having ties to some important people, he wouldn't have made it back to his hotel.
@@lawman3966 Yeah something like that also happened to me twice. I was renting a condo at East Ortigas Mansion in pasig off of Ortigas ave. I would go to the Ortigas SM just about every day then one day I was approached by a female police officer who asked me where I was from? I thought she was interested in me so I told her New York City. She then told me to come inside the station. While in the station she told me to remain seated. Later she asked for my passport? I told her it was in the safe of my condo. She told me to go get it. I told my G.R.O. she told me to please go get it and go straight back to the police station. I did and she said she didn't believe me because I was polite but all New Yorkers are arrogant and act like rappers. The second time was when I arrived at Ninoy Aquino Airport by cab but the cab driver didnt have change. I went to see if I could get change at a stand in the O.F.W. part of the airport but I was not allowed in because I was not an O.F.W. so I asked the guard to do it for me. She did then asked for a tip but I told her I need the money for a cab when I get back to Kennedy Airport. Just when I was about to pay the airport tax an official looking gentleman approached me and asked me why I stole money from one of his guards I immediately went into survival mode. I denied his claim and told him she didnt ask for anything until after the deed was done. He told me to wait right where im at while he goes and gets his guard. I thought about it and knew it would be her word against mine. I realized I was a cashier and baggage check away from leaving Philippine legal Jurisdiction and entering into international legal Jurisdiction space. so I paid the airport tax and went through baggage check and hid myself until my flight. A NYPD police friend in the Philippines once told me "If you are a Vic. in the U.S. you will be a Vic. anywhere you go".

Mindanao is one of the most beautiful place in the world. I've traveled all over the world and Mindanao has it's unique beauty especially around davao city. Lush green, many wildlife in jungle: birds, crocodiles, fruits you will not find in other parts of the world i.e. durian, litocco, santol, star apple... Yes, stay away from sulu area because of muslim separatist groups.
Sulu Sea is definitely not a place for some American expats especially those who are prior or serving US Military. Although there are expats living all around the Philippines now, but it's not really for everyone. I have noticed though that there are more and more expats making their living in Philippines having such simple life. Some of the areas there are just like anywhere in the world or even here in the USA. Thanks for sharing Jay.. Aloha from Hawaii
What area would you suggest that’s near ish Manila but near beaches and that you’d be able to build ( I have family in Philippines so can purchase) and have a backyard and be in nature ?
Visiting is enough but living there is not my thing. I am a business man and doing business there as a foreigner is not a good thing. But those who do decide to go this year need to becareful due to people looking for foreigners with cash to rob due to the economic fallout the pandemic caused. Stay safe everybody.😎✌️
Take a step back from Puerto Galera for like the next year buddy!!! Where you been recently playa haven't see you in the travel streams over on Good Doc's channel recently! Also when are you thinking about going?
Crime, and civil unrest are the main reasons some shouldn't consider travelling to Philippines right now. A nice juicy foreigner makes an interesting target. Thing is, the more isolated the area, the less likely you are to have access to goods and services if the isht hits the fan. C19 showed exactly how bad things could get in an emergency. Then you have the caught-on-tape violence such as Police Staff Sergeant Jonel Nuezca with what appeared to be cover-ups which might have succeeded if not for the viral video.
Bruh, as you know we have boo-coo talents from all over the world right here in Cali. I have been to the Philippines on several occasions and what I love about the country is the natural beauty and tranquility and the fact that they speak English. I see you just feel at home w/ the fam. and just be chillin' like a villain - haha, and that is beautiful
I have been once in Mindanao and I promise myself to never ever go back there again even Im a Filipino having lived in the UK for 47 years its a no no for me .
Mindanao is big and not all parts are dangerous. I was born and raised in Davao del Sur. I have lived now in UK for 22 years and I still visit my family there regularly with my British husband. I never take him to the dangerous areas of Mindanao.
