As a dissenting opinion, I think the Orthophonic (as far as I can discern from my speakers) has a mellower sound, with perhaps better bass, than the Meltrope. I shall have to listen to the other videos...
Thanks for the input! That aligns with what I heard in person--I just found out that the Meltrope's diaphragm is a bit dented, though, so it will be interesting to hear how the sound changes after it's fixed.
@@e.q.b.gramophones7506 The sound is much richer with the Meltrope. I have a Decca 50 portable with the Meltrope soundbox as was impressed by the clarity and loudness which some other soundboxes cannot achieve.
This has always been one of my favorite songs! The first one sounds best to me!
