I remember going to Ukraine first time this summer via Przemyśl. It was a bit confusing at first due to looooong queue, I think it took almost 1.5h to get to the train.
But I really feel your pain regarding the line Kyiv - Przemyśl. We also waited around 3-4 hrs. I had no idea that this would be happening. Just exactly like you, I had no sleep on my way to Poland and when we arrived it didn't get any better because I had to get back home- Warsaw. And in the train to Warsaw I also didn't get any sleep so I was absolutely exhausted, so I absolutely relate....
But I heard (didn't experience it though yet) that it's easier on route Kyiv - Chełm. But I'm assuming you had a flight in Kraków so this information might not matter.
Hope to hear why you left Ukraine in the next part!
    Happy travels! 😇

Yesss Przemysl is confusing. I'm guessing pre-war it was a really quiet border crossing so it didn't really need many resources but now it's kinda overwhelmed.
It was super exhausting. And made worse that I couldn't check into my Airbnb right away.
Yes I had to take the route to Przemysl.. anyway it will become more clear with Parts 2 and 3
Thank you so much! Wish you all the best!

I crossed through Przemysl a couple of weeks ago. Couldnt agree more about the delays in processing at the border. It feels like a major weak spot considering how much traffic is coming through the town without airports open.
It also feels like something that would need relatively low resources to be drastically improved. There was probably 8 staff doing the whole train at 1am, took approx 3 1/2 hours in a blizzard. I didn't find the attitudes from the guards at all welcoming - to say the least.
Much easier outside of winter and I'd recommend getting a train car number close to 1 if you want to be processed earlier. Although those cars are much more full.

Exactly! Considering the increase in cross border traffic from Poland and Ukraine. I'm sure pre-war it was a quiet little train station and didn't need many resources but unfortunately times have changed. I would say at least a heated tent where people can queue up. Especially in the cases of older folks and children

I would get so sleepy during this trip and wish I was traveling with someone just in case I miss a stop. I don’t think a full cabin would keep me from sleeping if I was as tired as you. Glad you stayed awake from that stretch of time until you could check into Airbnb.

$40 is a decent price for an overnight stay. Last time I paid that price in the U.S. was a long time ago when they used to have accommodations for solo travelers.

I enjoyed your video Nick. As far as Polish border crossing goes, I think they are really worried about Russian & Belarusian infiltration.

Yes I guess so but still don't think a heated tent to wait in line in is too much to ask for 🤷🏻‍♂️😅

Maintaining zero terrorist attacks in your country comes with a few inconveniences at the border for the rest of us, unfortunately!
Do you just use your American cards when travelling through Europe, or some sort of travel card, out of interest?

    • @wayfarernick
      @wayfarernick 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Well that's true, security comes at some inconveniences and that's fair enough but they could at least build a temporary structure so that we are not all standing in 0 degree weather. Especially for the elderly and children.
Yes I use a Chase Sapphire card since it has no transaction fees. I've also heard Charles Schwab has a debit card with no fees as well so if you're looking for one you can try that
