It's a cultural celebration that takes place in The Bahamas during the Christmas season where various groups would depict various topics through large displays of picturesque costumes that are designed as floats through the streets of downtown Nassau along Bay and Shirley Streets. They are also dancers dressed in costumes that move to the pulsating sound of rhythmic music called Junkanoo music and is a blend of brass instruments, cowbells, goat and cow skinned drums, black horns, whistles, scrapers and conch shells. The Valley Boys is one of the first organized groups that was a part of this cultural experience and have been active participants for 60 years. The junkanoo culture has evolved so much over the past 60 years where other junkanoo groups have become a part of the celebrations and all groups compete for top prizes mainly the "Best Overall Group Award". The Valley Boys is the winningest group in the Junkanoo competitions garnering more wins during the various parades than their counterparts.
