  • Every day on Highway 37, just west of Vallejo, thousands of people drive by an old outhouse in the middle of a marsh. This is the strange story of how it got there.

Drove by the toilet last week and noticed a man sitting on it. Drove by today and the man is still there, so now I know it's not a real person, but it's still pretty creepy.

I was driving some scouts to camp this summer and it was really funny to hear how enthusiastic one of the 17-year-olds was when we were coming up to The Lone Toilet. "We're almost there!"

This is not between Vallejo and Fairfield.
More like Vallejo and Sonoma Raceway.

Great story! We need more of this kind of reporting. I could watch storys like this all day long.
Idea for a story: 12 Mile and 14 mile house on Auburn boulevard.

Seems like some people have taken a dump in it. I wonder if anyone has done an upper decker?

A great next story would be to check out the remains of the old Portland Cement Company off of Highway 29 in American Canyon, just north of Vallejo, which was known as Napa Junction back in the day. Those concrete ruins are pretty cool and eerie to see when you walk around and through them. Quite a history to this piece of property indeed, which was later bought by Basalt Rock! ;-)
