In this video I have discussed the difference between gerund and verbal noun in detail . Many grammarians call gerund a verbal noun . This is true to a large extent but for Verbal nouns , there are some features which are not seen in gerund . Thats why gerund should be called as a part of verbal noun . So remember that all gerunds are verbal nouns but not all verbal nouns are gerunds .
Although a gerund is functionally noun , it has some characteristics of a verb whereas a verbal noun behaves like a pure noun .
