I’m a senior in high school who applied Early Action for the class of 2026. Your video just reassured me and gave me some confidence about getting in. Thank you!
Great vid, I just received my appointment to the class of 2026 for EA!! I’ve been trying to get in for 3 years now and I finally made it. So happy to finally be able to go to my dream college.
2019 Grad Here! Thanks for this video. I remember applying to the Academy seven years ago and wish I had amazing advice like this. Can't wait to see you in the fleet!
I was Air Force and I took my daughter to the Air Force Academy family day. She spent the day talking to cadets visiting the school and at the end of the day she said no way. Oh well it's not for everyone. She went on to college and is a RN now.
Retired USNA prof; now CGA writing center tutor. How to get into an academy--aside from being an Eagle Scout, valedictorian, and captain of the football team? Can't say. But once you're accepted I can tell you how to prepare for Plebe Summer and Plebe year. Run, run, run. Math, math, math.
Great video. One error you inadvertently made. You don't have to have a Nomination BEFORE applying at the DOD Service Academies. You apply at Navy, Army & AF at the same time you separately apply for a Nomination from a member of Congress, the Vice President and other sources if applicable. USMMA has a slightly different Nomination process. Good luck in the USCG. For others: USCGA does not participate in the Nomination process as said in this video.
Hi Erin hope you had a blessed Thanksgiving looking forward too the dinner tonight. Stop bye the scullery and say hi. Glad your doing videos again. Looking forward to winter break I know you are to. Thanks for the video! God Bless!
Another awesome video Erin! Wish I had these when I was in HS. Great advice as always! Wishing you the best this holiday season and for 2022 and your Coast Guard career!
Great video! I just want to point out an error. It is risky to apply EA if you do not have the strongest possible application. It is ONLY a POSSIBILITY for your application to be moved over to regular decision. They can outright reject you from EA, and you will NOT be moved to regular decision. However, it is possible to get looked at again in regular decision, but NOT a guarantee.
Hey Erin! Just wondering if you knew how much the academy took SAT scores into consideration? If the rest of my application is strong how much will a lower SAT score affect me?
Hey erin, i am a freshman and am considering mechanical engineering at the academey, wanted to know what somethings that i should doing now to prepare for aplication.
Hi Erin, I’ve been planning on applying to the Coast Guard Academy. I come from a small school and town. What would your advice be to get myself out there? I don’t graduate for another 5 years, but I’m planning early so I give myself the best shot.
Thanks for all the great tips! I am in 8th grade and Involved in scouts (boy scouts)and plan to get involved in sea scouts, is there anything thing else I can do to get prepared besides getting good grades and stuff like that?
Bigger boats have a gym space, smaller boats not so much but you're not on patrol for as long. There's usually space on deck to do some body-weight stuff though haha
Glad I found your channel! I am in middle school and want to go to USCGA (or USMMA). Just curious why you don't talk about USMMA is it because they are your rivals? Plus also do you know much about Webb Institute, I like that school too. Thanks. Good luck with your last semester. Plus I TH-cam too (gaming channel). Your friend E10!
If you want to hear about USMMA or see the end product: 1 second everyday at USMMA is a great video and Brian Boyle is a graduate of USMMA and you can see what he does !

SmarterEveryDay did a video on USCG search patterns and my first thought was "I wonder if Erin would enjoy this."
Thank you for dedication to the defense of the nation

I am so glad I know thanks so much and I want to join the academy in 5 years
Awesome video. Can you create a video on coast guard academy football admissions? Maybe interview a current player?
Very good advice. Well thought out. Complete yet concise.
Hey Erin have a safe and happy holidays with your loved ones. Taking a nice break as well God Bless!

I’m older and didn’t really shine in high school this video has me pretty doubtful lol I applied for the reserves
I just saw on the USCG academy website that it is test optional for SAT??
Are you looking forward to the EAGLE

When you go to high school, see if it has a JROTC program. That can teach you some basics and it’s good on a academy resume.
You are about to start your last semester. Excited? Ready?
All of the above!
How do Coast Guard personnel work out on the ships…is there a gym on board

How do you join as a college grad
Do they accept homeschoolers?
Would doing sea cadets boost my chances of getting in do you think?
Definitely!
You should be studying for your exams!
On it!
Who needs studying? 2.0 is a go baby! :)
18% acceptance rate; rule #1 is don't have unrealistic expectations and make darn sure you have plan B, C and D.
