Banished cc mod is still hands down the best city/colony builder. Basic but still better all around. If/when ostriv becomes a game where u can build how u want to and not how dev wants u to build then and only then will this game be any good. But so long as ur forced to start in certian locations and always have to build the same build order for the first 3 years and literally 1 or 2 of 7 maps are even playable. This game needs more balance and less of anything else. So tired of the same build order on every map fot the first 4 or 5 years. Too boreing
Just love this game!! One of my all time favorite. The developer does a great job when he's able and has already made a great game of it with more to come!
Indeed. What with his country being invaded and all. He even made a game call tile cities right after the invasion and he donated the money to his fellow countrymen and women.
Need a forestry, thachery, clay pit and smithy to get the ball rolling, prior to housing. After housing, I build a trading post. You can't produce food from farms or fishing in a timely enough manner to save your population, so you have to import your food. Charcoal is the easiest way to make money early on. I've had up to twelve fields per farm, ten seems to be optimal. Keep an eye on your firewood and food supplies, they sometimes run out unexpectedly, I had several warehouses stuffed with firewood, and within minutes it was all gone. People left the town. I've got 2,350 hours logged on Steam. Agreed, maps need expansion, they get small quick. The animations are pretty good as is the landscape. I like the game very much.
but to build houses, smithy etc you need a mine to get mats to make nails, meanwhile you have run out of nails building forestry and clay pit. So then houses arn't built. Winter has come and the people have all left. How to get them back....no bloody idea! I do wish they explained more what to do in order and how. Im told there is no wood available yet surrounded by forests, I need to hire, no idea how to do that either...is there a guide somewhere that explains these games when they dont?
This game was I think the first city builder I watcher you play and the first one that got me into city builders. Will always be a classic and one of my favorites! Good stuff
For the algorithm, this is an excellent builder that I got many years ago and haven't played for ages but this makes me want to give it another run after watching this...
This is a great game. I'll never look at a pair of shoes again and take it for granted. Love Manor Lords too. One thing to consider comparing the two is that Ostriv consciously doesn't involve itself with combat, so ML has a harder task. I find it not coincidental that it starts in 1721 - the year the Peter the Great established the Russian Empire. The labor division is smart and cultural. Seeing the variable family structures and their names/faces a great feature. It's fun to watch a new family arrive in the wagon and the ladies doing the charcoal. I have the soundtrack and really enjoy it. I'm fine with the notch back in graphics for more content mechanics. Agree that the building animations seem more detailed in this one. Selective cutting - ML doesn't have that.
i love this game, it's like my zen garden. i've had it for years and recently tried manor lords too. the similarities are quite obvious but i feel that Ostriv's economy is more balanced
Manor Lords is just like Ostriv you mean?! (I have both). No battles in Ostriv and that's fine by me. Ostriv came first and it is intricate city builder, rivet counter heaven. 😁 Paths/roads develop over time, but tell me, why do houses have a clay container inverted on the front gate post after some time? Must be a Euro specific thing. 🤔
LOL it's actually easy. it just has a slow start. The economy is also broken, specifically the tax and buying products from citizens at zero cost and then sell them back at full price lol. XD
oh i LOVED watching you play this as well as life is feudal and foundation back in the day. so exciting they're still getting updates. my PC broke a few years back and i haven't been able to replace it so i can only play mac games 😭 i miss them
Please do a new series I'm asking "aggressively" lol I started playing along with you, I've had this game for years and it's really great to dive back in and see what's new
@ The potato had a bit of a rocky introduction in Scandinavia. When the land barons decreed that their peasants should grow and eat this crop they neglected to tell them what part to eat. The result was a lot of sick people and a firm prejudice against the plant. Eventually that changed but people are still a bit suspicious about it. Most people in Sweden, for instance, will not eat the potato skin no matter what.
105% for building animation is a little off the mark. Manor lords is a solid 60% and this is more like 90. I want to see ladders and every nail hammered! haha
east european WERE POOR. they mostly care about the function. not decorations. and thats one of the reasons of communist revolution to happen. don't be dumdum...
People complain because it ‘has’ to be a cozy utopian dollhouse city-builder. Well guess what? This game treasures authenticity and realism. Go cuddle with your furries.
How does this game compare to Manor Lords when it comes to the complexity in making the industry work and the peoples level of satisfaction? I am new to city building games (except for a few games about 20years ago), so I don’t want it to be to complex to start out.
There is a definite learning curve to this game. As far as industry goes, it is rather complicated. Ex. People in the town will move away if you don't have shoes available within 3 to 5 years. To make shoes you need learher and a shoemaker's shop, but to get leather you need cowbarns and cows first. Then you need a slaughterhouse and a tannery. To get the tannery to make leather you need salt and lime. The saltworks requires two oxen which requires the cowbarn. For the lime you need other buildings. So it's complicated and if you don’t stay on top of it all you end up losing people or going bankrupt. I started over and over, slowly getting farther and farther. Still, I find it fascinating.
is this game in beta or full release? because i don't see the point in comparing a full release game with a beta. like you expect a top-notch game on beta?
The problem with this game is green flat grass !!... Feeling like big green carpet.. I was supporting the dev since early alpha ... This is the only thing I wish to change right now .. Manor Lords and Farthest Frontier have the point I was point about it..
Ostriv is better than Manor Lords, at least at the moment. This game has a much deeper gameplay with respect to city building. This game should have at LEAST as much love and popularity as Manor Lords, if not more. It's criminal that it doesn't! I found Manor Lords rather disappointing in terms of depth of gameplay and gameplay features compared to Ostriv. It seems to me that the only reason Manor Lords has the popularity and Ostriv doesn't is that Manor Lords has fighting... This one has MUCH better an deeper gameplay.
Ive really enjoyed my time with this game. I can't wait to play it once the devs have build it out more and given it some polish because many of it's core mechanics and ideas are very novel and very good game design.
Still hopelessly waiting for it to get a guide or grid on the ground. It doesn't need for the buildings to snap to said grid but the grid is just there so I can align my roads and building especially the farms. Even early people knew how to align their roads or buildings. Would also be cool if there's a tool or guide line to make a curve.
This game has a special place in my heart, I think this game is so good, it was here before Manor Lords and still captivating to this day.

The answer for the trees planted closely along roads or field fences are for the purpose of wind protection. Wind blockers.

For sure a series. I love this game and need to learn more.

Thanks for pushing this game! It's one of the best!

Please, let's expand this village!
Ive played many city builders, cant beat ostriv at all. The economy simulation, the production system is superb
LOL it's actually easy. it just has a slow start. The economy is also broken, specifically the tax and buying products from citizens at zero cost and then sell them back at full price lol. XD

This is one of my favorite games! Love the history and details of this game.
I want to see a series!!
Glad to see you going for Baroque.
Biggest issue with this game is that the villagers feel dead, empty, and void of simulation. Needs character, personality, and voice effects.
I've been playing this game even before it came to steam. I really love the whole game.
Me too !!!
Alpha 6 is set to release in about 1 month.
I want to see a series
So like the chimney in the middle of the house
I wanna see a full 3 day live stream! no cuts!
Please do a new series I'm asking "aggressively" lol I started playing along with you, I've had this game for years and it's really great to dive back in and see what's new
Glory to Raptoria!
Ostriv is a goodun. Love that you can sit and get to end game building in relatively short sessions.
This has been a great game. Nice that you could do a video of it. :D
Moar Ostriv is needed
, milord!!!
more , MORE !! And MORE !!!!!!!
I want a series
Second it
Thank you for the interesting video!
If you were in Scandinavia onions are hugely important
not potato??
@ The potato had a bit of a rocky introduction in Scandinavia. When the land barons decreed that their peasants should grow and eat this crop they neglected to tell them what part to eat. The result was a lot of sick people and a firm prejudice against the plant. Eventually that changed but people are still a bit suspicious about it. This is looking good
try worker and resources , you won't regret it

I prefer Ostriv to Manor Lords. Also, the Ostriv developer is continuing to add content, balance the game, and fix bugs.
Makes me think of one in Norway
A little more color would be nice. People did paint their houses, if only to protect the wood from rotting.
The dev should let a real artist fiddle with the palette, saturation and contrast. It would really elevate the entire experience.
east european WERE POOR. they mostly care about the function. not decorations.
and thats one of the reasons of communist revolution to happen.
don't be dumdum...

paint on wood, CAUSES wood to rot by creating a barrier for water to escape.
@@hummingbir6 No, look at Manor Lords to see that realism can be beautiful. Or go to a museum.
You should try workers and resources again.
Love Ostriv!
This game is WAY TOO OVERPRICED for its value. Manor Lords is the best! Great play.

This is cool
How do you play it and is it a free download
wow ostriv🎉
Love Ostriv
The que is convenient
Nice

like i agree few things said, but how do we know it won't be implemented? like fishing on the river.
This game is still early access
Intriguing love a good developer competition
MOAR

Series or else

Lmao u said farthest frontier too and i thought u said farthest frontier 2...lmao inwas about to fkn say dude 1 is still in EA....lmao😂😂😅
Maps etc look very Poor on Grafik side
I hope these devs stay safe what with Putin's insanity going on.
Manor lords will never be great because Greg has very illogical immersion breaking design ideas.
Don’t like combat
