It definitely is my favourite Roguelite, while it isn't a true rogue like (important distinction).
Time limit is optional, but can be present. Which skills you get also affect your playstyle through rng. Enemies are pretty systematic with roles too, some spawning, having unique patterns each that you have to keep in mind and have to learn how to dodge, to jump or to parry. And enemies are rather aggressive, especially on advanced stages and higher entropy levels. Plus the game is still being patched and developers are listening to feedback! I have been with the game since open beta and they are really taking to heart it all and the fun aspect.
I feel like the best comparison for this game is Hades, with set stage order and the "heat/entropy" systems of difficulty, with exception being that Entropy is just... better for me. I also completely disagree with other commenter here lol
More bosses than in Hades make it more unique and much less repetitive, especially since they have even harder versions unlocked with Entropy. I also entirely do not understand "No surprises in a fact", when roguelites are greatly about learning patterns of opponent moves.
Where Entropy Effect stands out is in the character customisability and variety of options - Different Tactics and Character skills create extremely unique variables, choosing different character having actual impact on all mechanics - dodges of varying s, jumps of different hights, different combos, different playstyles, unlike hades where you are always stuck with a projectile special move and a basic dodge, the weapon change only altering two moves and not entire playstyle. Potentials further add into variety of your build, making sure that each run even with the same character also suggests a diferent playstyle than before. Sometimes game wants you to invest into dash attacks (Mai with dash attacks is extremely fun), others into summoning, spawning debree etc. Some synergies are also hidden, giving you dopamine when you get one and it clicks.
Thank you for bringing more attention to my favourite roguelite lol, I am definitely happy to see people talk about this hidden gem!

Thank you for the extensive comment and the correction! I completely agree with what you're saying, it's also the reason why I'm enjoying it.
Let's hope that the videos can make this gem of a game a bit less hidden ^-^

The one small aspect of this game i do like is that you play as this robotic character (don't know if it has a name) that can virtually take on different forms of characters. as of most i've never played Blazblue fighting games but having this series in different kind of game style looks interesting.

i would like to add that the shareholders decided to run with the money the moment 1.0 came out
so the devs are on their own
please buy the game to support them they have made an amazing game

@@spuffy6402 while I agree my guess would be that they did not earn the money they were expecting so they dipped
These kinds of people don't really play games or even care about games they only care about profits they most likely gained as much money as they invested so they pretty much wasted their time and gained nothing. They ran because they did not see a profitable investment

Hope so too! Definitely a chance to attract more players from the original BlazBlue franchise if their favourite characters are in the game

Dead cells has way better level design, enemy varitiy as well as difficulty design compared to this game. However, this game excels in combat.

It feels sad seeing some of my favorite fighting game characters of all time get demoted into interchangeable, no-personality shades of their former self. I think this just means Blazblue is very likely dead forever. The game itself doesn't look bad, but I was a hardcore Blazblue fan and own every single one, and this simply doesn't remind me of Blazblue. The Blazblue characters could be swapped out for anybody and the game is exactly the same. I appreciate your review on this, but it seems this game just isn't for me.

Yep, I understand you, it's why I had to mention at the end, if you're a blazblue fan, it's probably not what you're looking for.
It's made by a new studio, so it doesn't really have much to do with the original, if at all, it only uses the characters and name for marketing. It's a good game in my opinion, but it definitely wasn't made to appeal to blazblue fans, so while the game in general has been received very well, it's mostly by an audience that has no former knowledge of the BlazBlue franchise.
      Thanks for watching though!

I didn't really enjoy entropy. Either because I played Blazblue CF before and felt too simple compared to it with me seeing the same cast or because it's bad.
Risk of rain is fun because at first you are competing against time later against rng as you realize how to get desired rolls and get powerful enough for certain estimated time.
Hades is fun because you are dodging haphazardly at first but then you time your attacks and dodges because the enemies are systematic with roles.
Dead cell is fun because the combat is very committed and enemies can be very variably aggressive.
Entropy felt like a can of worms with nothing standing out. It to me suffered the Korean MMO phenomenon, very flashy and mobile moves, yet there is no necessity to do so as everything else is mundane and bland.
Most fights feel like touhou boss fights but you can zoom the map with a button press, like the enemies are not even in the same dimension with you. As long you don't get hit(feels like old malaise from dc) there should be no issue which is a very bad mark. There is impeding doom, rush to target certain mobs, no surprises in a fight, no difficulty spikes mid run. It's just bland.
