Santa Monica installs new Digital Information Kiosks

  • Santa Monica has begun installing touch screen digital information kiosks throughout the city.
    Wayfinding + Economic Recovery: Direct residents and visitors to local hotspot destinations and highlight small businesses.
    Public Wi-Fi: It is estimated that 80% of international tourists travel without an international data plan.
    Community Messaging: Announcements for events and community programs and services, as well as public art exhibits and local artist spotlights.
    Transit Information: Real-time transit information and shared mobility locations will help residents and visitors get around town.
    Inclusive + Accessible: Information provided in all major languages, ADA accessible, and kiosks include special features for hearing and vision impaired users.
    Public Safety: Kiosks include emergency blue phones, emergency alerts, and optional surveillance during emergency situations.
    3-1-1 Access: Provide access to City of Santa Monica's 3-1-1 customer service portal.
    Community Advocate: Long-time Santa Monica resident will be single point of contact for all community questions and concerns.
    Maintenance + Repair: BIG Outdoor will handle all kiosk maintenance, repair, and replacement needs, with a maintenance team available 7 days per week.
    Revenue-Generating: City will receive 50% of net kiosk revenues ($5M guarantee/year) and received a $4M signing bonus - all to support community priorities!

    They should have spent the money on more police in the area.
