Interresting thing is that they put in the remaster some lines from the transmission of soldiers in Washington. The music, the atmosphere, the fear of loose in the own contry still the best mission of mw2 the atmosphere still epic.
Everything about this mission is so good. The atmosphere, the radio chatter, the weather it all gives off the sense that the situation has no control and they are desperately fighting for the capital, even the intro with the emergency broadcast shows the despair of the situation

This entire mission is incredible in the way it stands out from the other missions in MW2 and really loved playing between 141 and US Rangers wish MWII did something similar to it.
A problem I have with modern cod games, which is why I stopped playing these games so much, is that they seem to forget what made call of duty so great. War being hell. Sure the modern games have these great looking cutscenes but I’d trade all of that for atmosphere like this. It’s brings forward a deadly feeling, like this fight may be the last. Now a days, call of duty forgot that tone and made it all about “YEAH! AMERICA ROCKS! GOD BLESS THIS COUNTRY! YEEE HAW!!!” And if you’re a fan of that, great but that wasn’t what call of duty was about. It was about shaking the bravery of soldiers who fought tooth and nail to save the day. And as the series went on, it lost that focus.
MW2 is Red Dawn (Wolverines should be obvious) Lotr Rotk (Of their own accord, The Gulag being expys of Minas Tirith and the Black Gate respectively) and Apocalypse now (Shepard being evil, the sheer hell of the DC missions akin to vietnam) all rolled into one Spec ops is essentially a series of incredibly violent 007 missions

Keith David doesn’t get enough credit for his Role as Sgt. Foley. Dude is up there with Reznov(Gary Oldman) when it comes to the grit, rigor & vigor he put into being a military commander.
Easily my favorite mission from the game and definitely one if my favorite missions in all of the call of duty. The action, the atmosphere, the feeling that this could be the day russia takes over! Just an incredible mission overall!

I never like this mission in the remaster. The music that plays when you link up with the SEALs and take off is almost muted in the remaster and it completely takes away the atmosphere from that part of the mission.

I feel like the sound when they emerge from the bunker is a bit off in this edition. Like, in the original the moment you peak out you get overwhelmed by all the shooting and the helicopters and stuff, and the music goes along with it quite well too. Meanwhile, here it's kinda quiet for a moment, then two helicopters fly overhead drowning out the music, then everything else kinda starts to kick in, and you've got these weird silent moments in between. Also, radio sounds way too clear. The bunker itself is clearly better though, you actually get the sense that it's full of... you know... wounded soldiers who are actually in pain, not just... injured looking people sitting down. They actually make noises and stuff.
Fuck me man they made the helicopter crash so much more intense in the remaster. I get chills at how well done it is. That heroic music cuts off right as your chopper takes a fatal hit from a SAM launcher and all you're left with is the sound of it going down and the pilot frantically calling mayday as you hold on for dear life in a death spiral straight to the ground. Intense as fuck. Not to mention right after this happens is when the nuke launched by Captain Price is detonated in the atmosphere causing the resulting emp blast to knock out all electronics barely saving whats left of you and your squad. I miss how good games used to be.

In the og version, at the end of the chatter you can hear what sounded like a kid screaming then followed by static. In the remastered version however, Atlas 1-1 sounded like the operator let go of the button mid sentence.
I can't help saying that The Division 2 should've looked a lot more like this. It's the capital, so obviously they would've deployed national guard and the army to defend the white house but in TD2 it looks more like it was abandoned. The atmosphere in this game is phenomenal and I wish more developers took note of how atmosphere is just as important as gameplay and story.
I know it's a game but it's still interesting how US was outnumbered by Russian Air force and troops when they have the largest Air force in the world lol
