    Great job!
    Mine must have a pin hole near the top element or threats that no longer seal. No other video talked about that.
    Thanks!! 8:21

      Thanks, glad it helped! I’ve seen a few pin holes in tanks over the years but over 90% of the time it’s corroded threads at inlet/outlet or elements.

    Hi Jensen, just an update. Watching your video helped me to better understand how these devices work. Unfortunately, my electric water heater was too old and it was necessary to replace it. When the plumber got here and he told me about the replacement I checked with him the pipes on top and asked him to open the upper box with the elements (everything was wet and rusty inside and it was the same outside at the bottom of the cover), things I would have never heard about before!! When I bought this apartment 4 years ago I never knew how old this water heater was, it just looked old but it always worked well. Then the leakage was going underneath that part of the laminated floor (fortunately only a few inches got damaged). Ohh well..., it was not cheap but at least problem solved.

      I’m glad there wasn’t too much damage! Now you should have many years of trouble free hot water👍

      Well l hope the internal threads were okay & you got it fixed up. I’ve seen many where the tank had to be replaced because of corroded inlet or outlet tank threads. Thanks for sharing!

    The place I'm renting has an Everhot dual handed electric water heater and I'm pretty sure it's leaking!

    So I noticed where the hot water cold water connects. Mine is wet so do I need to drain the tank to change out those tubes asking from Alabama

    • @JENSENDIY
      @JENSENDIY  17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@joearnone8138 If the water inlet & outlet are on the top of the tank vs. off the side then l usually drain off about a gallon or you could just use a towel to soak up any water as its usually not a lot. If the threads look corroded beware as you may have to change the whole tank. Good luck!

    My 8 year old Rheem 40 gallon tank, natural gas hot water heater started leaking from the TOP of the tank yesterday. The water appears to be coming from where the gas vent is at the vet top middle, not f from the hot or cold water pipes.
    It's still heating the water fine with the hot water turned off.
    Wondering if I need a whole new hot water heater or just some part replaced up near the top of the tank. Seems to not be a very common place for these things to start leaking, and while only warrantied for 6 years, it doesn't seem like 8 years is a very long life. The only external corrosion is on the hot water pipe where it enters the tank, but that does not seem to be where the leak is coming from.

      @@kathybenton2680 I have seen plenty of tanks develop a leak even before the warranty was up. If the tank is 8 years old & you see rust at hot water side, unfortunately I would say it’s time for a new tank. Better to take care of it before it gets worse. They don’t make em like they used to. Good luck!

    Thank you for this video. Greetings from Northern Indiana. Our family has had a GE Smart Water tank for a looooong time. I did not know about the rod needing changed (which I think you mentioned in another video), so I will look into that. I do not see a leak at this time, though it is dusty and needs cleaned. I know you said some anode rods can be flexible, but other than that, are they generic to all tank heaters? Thank you!

    • @JENSENDIY
      @JENSENDIY  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JenniferMathew-gh2vf Welcome! Yes water heater anodes are mostly generic in thread size & composition. l have seen some tanks that don’t have them at all but that’s usually smaller tanks.

    Which water heater you think is better, an electric water one or a tankless one, for a small apartment with 1 to 2 people living in it. Thank you, gorgeous man!!!

    • @JENSENDIY
      @JENSENDIY  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you! great question, I have found that tankless water heaters work well if they run on propane or natural gas but if they are electric they require a lot of power to run. So either a storage tank type electric or tankless gas powered would probably be best for an apartment like yours.

    I have a question, I just installed a 28-gallon electric water heater, and it's leaking from the access panel, but not from the element . It's coming from the top of the panel. What do think it is? Is the tank defective?

    • @JENSENDIY
      @JENSENDIY  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@juanclaregutierrez5494 Possibly defective but it could be leaking from the threads where temp/pressure relief valve is installed or hot water outlet threads. Water could make its way to top of access panel. Hope this helps!

    My electric water heater is leaking from the upper element. It appears it's coming from behind the gasket. We are from Englewood, Florida

    • @JENSENDIY
      @JENSENDIY  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Welcome, thanks for watching! If it’s a flanged element you can probably change it or have it changed. If it’s a threaded element you may be able to change it but the majority of the time the tank will need to be replaced.
